Excellent place to visit and purchase goods made in Puerto Rico. We happened upon this store and was so happy to find a place to buy a souvenir or two that was made on the island and supported local craftsmen. We purchased some marmalade and a glass ornament. The ladies in the store were super helpful and so careful packaging our purchases. I would purchase more from this store next time I visit.

I wondered into this crafts shop in Old San Juan. It's near a plaza, with an orange awning. It's a large place with crafts you won't find in souvenir shops. Look for masks, ceramics, paintings. Prices are fair.

I found this web site in a search for ideas for an upcoming trip to Puerto Rico. The art prints available by local artists from the island impressed me. I did end up ordering a silk screen print prior to our trip, then when we were in Old San Juan we went to the store. It is very clean, very organized and has two floors of art work and crafts to chose from. It isn't a junky trinket kind of place at all. My daughters found beautiful jewelry and I found very nice one of a kind type souvenier gifts for friends. They have books and tshirts and I liked finding a local rum, not available in most of the United States, Ron del Barrilito right there in the art store. It is a great stop if you visit the island or are just web browsing. Tony, the gentleman who runs the store is especially helpful and does a fantastic job with the variety of work from a variety of artists. Check it out!

I agree with "Amanda R" below. Almost all of the shops in OSJ are filled with the same obviously-made-in-China, cheap ugly junk -- or, if the merchandise is nice, it's stuff that you could get at home for the same or less money.
PR Arts and Crafts was so nice and had such unique things and reasonable prices that I went there two days in a row. It was one of only two shops in the entire city where I found anything I'd consider buying -- and I love to shop! There was some cool modern jewelry made from steel or aluminum; I got a great bracelet for $10. I also got a multicolored ceramic bead necklace for about $20. We really admired some prints they had of OSJ, but they were a bit pricier and we were concerned re: paying for shipping, so we passed.

We shopped at Poet's Passage and Puerto Rican Arts and Crafts on Fortaleza. We eventually bought mementos of our trip at PR Arts and Crafts. The selection of handmade island made items was huge. The prices were varied and reasonable. The salespeople were very nice. We brought home some beautiful stained glass ornaments of places we visited in PR, and they were only $16 each. I got a cool bracelet for $35. Definitely visit it.

Arts & crafts & souveniers. I like supporting local merchants and artists so I stay away from the "Made in China" crap you see everywhere. This shop has a great selection of local artists and items. Beautiful items. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. Bought several items that make me happy when I look at them.

This place is for real. No products made in far away lands. This is one of the best places if you want real Puerto Rican arts and crafts in a range of prices and a vast variety of products. I have bought products from here many times at great prices.

My daughter & I went to the shopping area in Old San Juan surrounded by small, quaint streets & loaded with plenty of stores selling souvenirs & locally made crafts. I was looking for a handmade doll to give as a gift. What I found in some stores were the usual tourist items that looked cheap and in two stores the dolls were covered with dust & dirt. Other stores had nice
things, but were way over priced. One store we stopped in did not sell dolls, but the owner recommended Puerto Rican Art & Crafts. I'm so glad she did! This store was clean, well lit had a nice selection of hand made merchandise & the prices were reasonable compared to other stores. I found a very nice looking doll that was well made & I felt very satisfied with my purchase. If you go to this area, look around & price different things, but go to Puerto Rican Arts & Crafts when you are ready to buy.

This store has a great selection of crafts that reflect local traditions. Jewelry, hand carved wood work, paintings, and ceramics. Everything is hand made by local artisans. They have unique pieces and they also place orders for unique items. The service is excellent and the staff is very knowledgeable in local traditions. They ship anywhere in the US and they follow up with phone calls and emails if necessary. I've ordered specific items not illustrated in the webpage and they email me pictures to ensure I get what I want. I highly recommend this store if you want authentic and unique items.

Address is 204 Cll Fortaleza, San Juan, 00901, Puerto Rico. It's in Old San Juan. Once we parked in the parking garage near the marina, I was able to use my phone's map to find it. It took only 5 minutes to walk there from the marina.
