la Factoria was recommended to me by several people and it lived up its' glowing reviews. It is a small place that gets very crowded late at night, but in the afternoon we sat comfortably at a window seat overlooking Old San Juan. The food came out quickly and was so delicious we came back a second time.

This is a fun bar with an intriguing setup. Essentially, you enter into the "first bar" can grab a seat for a drink or continue to the remaining bars. Each section has a different atmosphere to it. We purposely went on a less popular night to avoid the crowds.
I am definitely not cool enough for a place like this.

My husband and I Ubered here for craft cocktails and it was worth it! The front bar was crowded but we went to the one furthest back and were able to get quick service at the bar and had plenty of space in a cool atmosphere. The menu is creative and drinks complex and not too sweet. Would recommend for a night out!

Is my third visit in a this month and it’s been very difficult to get a good table for a solo person in the salsa launch last week and today cause is always full on a Monday. Well that’s what the front door man told me with an attitude cause I told him he did the same thing last week that I couldn’t get in and told me if I was “potrona” I had to leave when all was saying to him was that he told me the same thing last week after waiting a lot and I had to go. I love this place, love the antique buildind and ambience and I been here a few times with friends and never had any problems but now they said is due to COVID regulations. Who would say so?

The cocktails here are absolutely excellent, on par with high end restaurants anywhere else in the world. My party was fortunate and got a seat at the bar, so our service was pretty quick. We tried every one of their signature cocktails and had a great time. All were good in their own way. The bartender, even though he was super busy, made time to answer a few questions about how they made their drinks. Definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the city, but be aware, this place gets very busy!

Lured by the notion that it’s in the top 50 bars in the world, we got there a little too early and only one of the bars inside was open. But that ground floor bar had a lot of charm and some great drinks. It has a very nondescript exterior so knowing the address is key to finding it.

Male bartender that was working tonight is terrible. I stood up at the bar for close to 10 minutes without him asking me what I wanted, I even had my wallet in my hand and kept looking at him. After 5 minutes he came over and took the order of two people next to me, at that point I figured he’s take me my order next. Nope after he finished making their drinks he just walked back over to the other side of the bar and started talking to some people I can only imagine were his friends.

Stopped in on our first night Old San Juan and had a great experience. We got seats at the main front bar (visted on a Tuesday night) and enjoyed a number of their specialty cocktails, all of which were unique, delicious, not watered down and reasonably priced. The bartenders were very friendly and their service was prompt. It’s a very lively and hip atmosphere, and should not be missed when in Old San Juan!

Not so hidden bar with lively eclectic seating, open air and a labyrinth. Service was super slow so we ended up only having one drink and half the bars were closed due to Covid (not their fault) for the price the drinks were so so but not phenomenal. Would go back again when things open up more to give it a second chance but it's not on my top must go to advise.

Fun place to check out at least once. Came during the day and night. During the day the front bar and middle are open but not the back, which opens at 5 then a band comes. The drinks are good. The service is a little slow, but it seems to be the norm in the area.

What days and at what times does La Factoría have live music and salsa dance?

There was live music most nights and all along the area on Friday and Saturday. It is a great place to enjoy and just walk around enjoying the ambiance and energy of the area.
Are reservations needed?
Christine P

Nope. Not necessary. We got there around 7pm and it was mostly empty but within an hour or so the place was completely packed. Remember there are 3 bars in there. The back bar area is the largest area where the salsa dancing and bands play. There are however some tables in the back bar which showed they were reserved, so you could try and reserve a table but I don’t think it’s necessary. Have fun!

Not that I’m aware of. I would dress like you were going for an evening out, nothing too too casual.
