We did the Big Waterfall Rappelling Adventure, and it was amazing. André and Desi, two of the guides, picked us up near our hotel, which was convenient. We stopped at a coffeeshop/bakery on the way to the location, which was delicious with an amazing view.

The climbing and rappelling itself was incredible. As we hiked through the rainforest, André pointed out wildlife and plants and told us about the land (which is privately owned, and therefore empty except for us). The climbing was challenging but fun. The rappelling was magical. I know that sounds excessive, but I'm not kidding - it was thrilling, beautiful, and difficult all at once. It was a new skill for my partner and I, so getting to the bottom of each waterfall was a huge adrenaline rush. We aren't climbers, but we're active and outdoorsy; I wouldn't recommend this for anyone who isn't at least moderately fit, but the guides thoroughly explained every step and we felt very safe the entire time.

We stopped for lunch on the way back at the same place as the way there (it's also a restaurant and bar), and the food was great. Note that almost everything has pork in it, so if you have dietary restrictions, let them know ahead of time.

Bonus: Desi and a third guide, Luis, took tons of photos for us (no extra charge), so we could focus on the experience and still know we'd have tons of pics to look back on.

Best, most amazing activity I’ve ever done, literally anywhere in the world! Better than all the skydiving, white water rafting, hang gliding, para sailing, para gliding, spalunking, surfing, etc I’ve done before - seriously, this adventure was the most fun I’ve ever had. Andre & Desey are so skilled that you feel as comfortable as one can possibly feel going rappelling down waterfalls in the rainforest (don’t worry, the thrill adds to the excitement & you feel invincible when you conquer your first waterfall rappel!). The same is true of their skills for the hiking & rock climbing. Andre rappels like a spider & Desey scales rock walls like freakin Spider-Man (except better cause she doesn’t need webs). But beyond that, they really go out of their way to ensure everyone has the best time. Our group of 6 from 3 different places had so much fun that despite not meeting before that day, we met up again for dinner our last night in Puerto Rico. That was all due to Andre & Desey making the experience so fun that friendships were inevitable. There’s no way I’ll visit PR without making sure they’re free to take me & friends rappelling down waterfalls cause WOW! You also get the most incredible views, learn about the rainforest (not El Yunque; this is a private reserve, which makes it extra special cause no one else is around!), and swim in natural pools at the bottom of the waterfalls (on the rappelling trip). I can’t emphasize enough how magical this experience was. Andre & Desey, thank you for giving me & Ellie the time of our lives. We’ll be back!!

Big waterfall rappelling adventure was awesome! Andre and David are true professionals who explain the process, the risks, and risk mitigation for this adventure. The pick up in San Juan was smooth, the ride out to the interior was pleasant and informative. Made a quick stop for pastries…..you’re gonna need the extra energy and then off to the rainforest. We were fitted with our gear and given an insightful guided hike through the reserve. Different plants and flowers were pointed out and a few poetic references made along the way to the first climb. Once at the climb we went over the safety techniques and process and up we went.. Two of our group were complete beginners but with some coaching they made it and gained some confidence. The next three or four obstacles were fun and really pumped everyone up. At the high point of our climb we rigged up and one by one rappelled down the waterfalls. It’s hard to put into words the adrenaline rush you get walking off a waterfall but it is amazing and you should try it!!!!! The route back includes a few swimming spots if you’re not completely exhausted. A lunch stop on the return trip to San Juan includes epic views and some great food. If you want a thrill in PR gives Altura a call!

Wow. This Puerto Rico waterfall adventure was absolutely epic in every way. Andre and his team were incredible guides as our party enjoyed a jam packed adventure complete with rock climbing, repelling down not 1 but 3 breathtaking waterfalls and enjoying the great outdoors. Andre went above and beyond to accommodate the special needs of our party (one person had to leave with enough time to make it back to San Juan airport) and made sure everything worked out As we needed with the time constraint. This outdoor adventure was hands down one of the best experiences I have been able to partake in, especially being a first time repeller. I felt safe in the hands of Andre and his team. This is an absolute must if you travel to PR.

The Big Waterfall Adventure is worth EVERY DOLLAR! I would recommend this over and over again!! I still cant stop talking about it. If you love the outdoors and seek an ultimate adventure then this is a MUST DO! Not for the week.. but you dont have to be a pro either. I have never repelled before and did great. Andre and his Team were professional and serious about the safety of everyone. I felt safe and in good hands. Hiking through the private reserve took me outside of the typical touristy thing to-do and placed me inside Puerto Rico's homeland. No words can really describe how awesome this adventure was! Also, the best part is they take pictures of you through the entire adventure, at no additional cost, and you will have tons of amazing pictures to bring back and brag on how you repelled down a roaring waterfall in a rain forest. Yup!! I did that!!

This was my group's favorite day in Puerto Rico! It was so fun to get out of the tourist areas and see some culture and truly spectacular waterfalls. Andre sent out information via text and we made sure to follow his advice and bring extra clothes and shoes. He also played photographer and we got some great pictures. I also recommend wearing athletic clothes that you don't mind getting wet so you don't miss out on swimming in the waterfalls! I want to come back with my whole family and do this tour, I cannot recommend it enough! The hike was tiring but not exceptionally difficult. Overall a great full day adventure! Book it!!!

We did the Big Waterfall Adventure with Andres and David. It was awesome!!! These guys are the best in the business. Their level of expertise is immeasurable, and their guidance and tips helped us tremendously. I loved the way their instructions were simple, clear and very accurate. Furthermore, their knowledge of the terrain and flora was impressive. Our group had different levels of experience and these guys made it as smooth as possible for all of us. It was nice to see that these guys were constantly asking how we felt and if everyone was ok. We did the Hiking and rappelling tour and went up to about 2800 ft., 3 cliffs and beautiful waterfalls to rappel off and ended with a refreshing splash in a water hole. The views from the mountain top were spectacularly breathtaking.
The tour also included a delicious Puertorican lunch at the end. If this tour had a rating of 1-10 I’d give it a 20! Definitely recommending this tour, you won’t be disappointed!

Andre was a phenomenal guide! He was so helpful
With giving great instructions on what to bring and expect before the hike. He also took us to a wonderful coffee shop for a quick breakfast beforehand, had outstanding fruit during the hike and took the group to a great outdoor restaurant for a very hearty lunch. He was willing to take pictures for everyone. Andre also had pop up tents for changing after. He was extremely thorough with all that he provided. My husband and I would do this again in a heartbeat!

This was an awesome adventure in PR. It was everything it was described to be and more! Very challenging yet doable for someone just learning to rappel. Our tour guides Andre and Luis were very knowledgeable and friendly. They took the time to explain everything and at the same time taught us a little bit about the Rican culture. Would recommend this activity for anyone who likes the outdoors and is ready to get out of their comfort zone!

I did the rappelling adventure and it was well worth it. I am a local and I still learned things that I didn’t know about the island. Not once did I feel unsafe, the guides have a system with redundancies/safeties in place to keep everybody safe. If you want to experience the food, nature and beauty of the island in a non-traditional way, book your adventure with Altura PR! You won’t regret it.
