We booked a sunset cruise (with a chance to catch fish) one day ahead. I suspect this would be harder to do outside of a pandemic.

This is our honeymoon trip and Luis really took care of us. We went through the mangroves all the way to the downtown area then back out into San Juan bay. I caught a nice snook and lost a small tarpon on this leg of the 2 hour ride.

Then the captain went way above and beyond by taking us to open waterto see Viejo San Juan from the open ocean and to try for some bigger fish. He says he usually never takes guests out of the bay but bexause it was our honeymoon and he saw that we liked to fish we went out. We caught 1 small albacore and lots of great pics.

Captain Luis knows his history, is a good man and does good work in his community. Give him and Caribbean Fishing Academy a try, they won't disappoint!

On Monday, the last day of our Puerto Rico vacation, I had a great time fishing with CFA Caribbean Fishing Academy. Captain Luis took me to about four different spots, where I caught three yellowtail barracuda, a tri-tail fish and a hammerhead shark. Since the hammerhead is threatened/endangered, we took a picture to send to a local biologist and then threw it back. Another hammerhead and another barracuda got away.

Since it was my last day, and I had no way of getting the fish home, I let the captain have the catch. In addition to the great fishing, I got some excellent water views of the island, including El Morro.

The dock was only a 20 minute walk from my hotel, making the trip super-easy.

I highly recommend going out with el señor Bergos if you're in the area. Three final notes:

1. You'll have better luck if you do the morning excursion rather than the evening one.
2. This is NOT a party boat. We drank water and fished.
3. It's expensive but worth it, and your money goes to good causes: preservation of the aquatic ecosystem and educating local at-risk youth.

Our trip was AWESOME!!! Captin Luis Burgos not only put us on the fish, but he put us on trophy fish from start to finish. He knew right where the fish were, how to catch them, and he has good equipment. Our day started off with my girl landing a massive 38" Snook followed by plenty of Jack's, Hammer Head sharks, and a half a dozen instant bite off strikes that we presumed to be Spanish Mackerel. Unfortunately, both of the 60 lb plus Tarpon that we hooked broke off (due to my own errors), but not without a fight. When our trip ended, I was literally sick to my stomach, not because I was sea sick, but due to the fact that there were literally dozens of Tarpon feeding like Piranhas and we were out of time with no way to extend our trip. It was TORTURE!!! But I will be back, and I will definitely rebook with Caribbean Fishing Academy again.

Captain Luis is the man to go see in Puerto Rico. We called two hours prior for an afternoon inshore trip and he made it happen for our kids. If the fish were done biting in one spot, he took us to another honey hole. We have chartered many of boats and have never had a captain go so far and beyond for us. He helped make this trip so special for our children! We caught over 20 fish in a four hour trip that included snook, jack, and barracuda ... also hooked several tarpon. A fishing trip my kids will remember for a life time. Highly recommend.

Myself and two friends are all seasoned fisherman and we "booked" two trips with Captain Luis. He came through with flying colors by putting us on a variety of fish such as; snapper, yellowtail, barracuda, and notably tarpon up to fifty pounds, as well as large jack crevelles. Captain Luis brought us to a number of fishing spots both inshore and offshore in order for us to take advantage of seeing and fishing the mangroves, lagoons and the deep water humps. If you are a novice / beginner or a die hard fisherman, Captain Luis is the man to see because he is extremely knowledgeable of the local waters and most importantly he WILL put you on fish no matter what kind of trip half, three quarter or full day, it does not matter. We can't wait to return again to fish with Captain Luis who we consider not just a fisherman but a "good" friend.

I am so late writing this but life got the best of me. My three boys and I visited Puerto Rico in mid February and I knew we just had to give fishing a shot. My boys are ages 3, 5 and 7 so I was unsure how long to go out for based on there tolerance. This was also the first time my younger two boys would go on a boat so I was even more unsure. Being the fishing enthusiast that I am I had to take a shot and create these memories I knew we would have. Captain Luis was great, so patient with the children and even my 3 year old who was having a fit managed to calm down and enjoy himself. My older two boys caught 3 fish total and when Luis heard that I had always wanted to land a tarpon but never had the chance he knew just what to do to get us on the fish. Sure enough, I landed my first tarpon! What an amazing trip, the boys ended there day with feeding tarpon at the docks. I would do this every time I go to Puerto Rico for sure. Thank you again Luis! We will see you soon!

As always, we had a great time with Capt. Luis, he was very professional, following all the protocols and CDC recommendations. Equipment was desinfected before and during the trip, we wore facemasks and buffs, we also kept distance as long as we could. The bite was on fire, we used live bait and lures. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Captain Luis Burgos was awesome. He was very good at getting my 5 year old son involved in operating the fishing poles by letting him let the lines out. He was very knowledgeable of the history of San Juan. We also caught a 75lb Tarpon during the tour which was amazing.

Captain Luis took myself and 5 friends out on his boat and it was 10/10 AMAZING experience! I would recommend Captain Luis and this experience to anyone visiting Puerto Rico... We drove through the mangroves, did some sightseeing of different landmarks, then spent a few hours on a beach that was nearby.

Captain Luis had so much knowledge of the landmarks, ecosystems, and history of what we were seeing. He also brought us to an awesome spot with a beach and other things to see. If you’re going to charter a boat, go on a fishing trip, explore, or ANYTHING book with them! We had such an awesome time
