Nice trip up into the Blue Mountains. See coffee as it is grown on a vintage plantation. Nice hike through the estate and a great cup of coffee at the end. Good even black.

We visited this small coffee plantation on our recent trip in January. The ride was awesome with great views from both Kingston and back north. Everybody at the plantation was very friendly and welcoming. It was the first full cup of coffee I've had in my life (I'm 40) and was well worth the wait. Glad we brought some some! Thanks for the hospitality.

I always tell people that I don't drink coffee because I really don't like it - it would take too much sugar & milk to support its bitter taste. Then I read that some people were like me, averse to coffee, but liked this coffee: I had to try it. It is so smooth I did not need anything in it to love it - although the owner mentioned that it would be even better with a drop of honey. This taste has a price indeed: $25 for 1/2 pound (225gr), and $30 for the peaberry coffee. YOLO! They said they have a very nice trail through the plantation to the waterfalls (nicer than Holywell trails) but we could not go because of heavy rain. Stay 30mn to buy coffee (and taste it) or 3h to go on the trail and enjoy the mountains - up to you. Very nice people (son of Alex), full of tips on our remaining days in Jamaica.

We toured Old Tavern with Barrett Adventure Tours. Carolyn was our guide and she is amazing. Carolyn has a wealth of information about the flora and fauna and history of Jamaica that she shares with you as you make the drive up the Blue Mountains. Be sure to do the tour with Barrett Adventures and with Carolyn! David Twyman gave us a fascinating talk about coffee making and let us sample his coffee, which is the best I have tasted. A wonderfully passionate coffee grower, David is a generous host who loves to share his knowledge about coffee. We hiked some of his beautiful estate grounds as well, which are truly breathtaking. This was the highlight of our trip and I am drinking some of the coffee we bought as I write this. A truly wonderful experience that is hard to capture in a little write up. The Blue Mountains are spectacular and it is incredible that you are over 4,000 feet up at Old Tavern, in the mist, yet on an island in the Caribbean! (The highest peak in the Blue Mountains is 7,000 feet!) The lushness of this tropical paradise is a feast for the eyes, waterfalls everywhere, brightly colored flowers, and clouds literally drifting past you as you ascend the mountains. Don't miss this!
