Only ones on the beach...

Im sure they do there best to keep this beach clean but the water wasn't as clean as other beaches in the area. Plastic and seaweed covered the sands and one worker trying to clean it just couldnt keep up. There was NO food or drinks and a charge to get in which seemed to turn some people away to the more active beaches. Swim to monkey island if you were adventurous enough ? Apparently there is some reefs out near monkey island but they were too far from shore to swim to on ruff sea days.
If you want privacy on a beach this is a good option but bring your own water and food.

Disappointed
Aug 2019 • Family
We had not been back to San San beach in over 10 years and looked forward to going. However, was very disappointed with the maintenance and facilities compared with Frenchman’s Cove as we went the day before. Both were the same cost but major difference with upkeep and service

Beach needs
Aug 2019 • Friends
My SanSan trip with my church to San San was average. SanSan is a beautiful beach one of the most beautiful beach in Portland but the facilities there needs massive improvement. Major work needs to be done to make this wonderful getaway a place to reckon. A changing room needs to implement so that you wont have younger children bathing while adults look on. Needs a good restaurant and bar. Needs to maintain whoever is taking care of the grounds need to go back to the drawning board and come up with creative ideas to make this lovely getaway into the ultimate getaway.

Needs Refurbishing!
May 2018 • Business
Nice beach, but most times always dirty and polluted. The beach chairs are like from the 70s and the facilities needs upgrading! Seems the owners have neglected this property or not taking it very seriously.

Beautiful but tragically polluted beach
Feb 2019 • Couples
My partner and I visited San San beach at a local's recommendation in February which I sadly do not recommend. Admission for two was around US $18.00, and under the circumstances of its maintenance, it should be free. A positive is there is a decent restroom. We had the long beach entirely to ourselves, and the view is beautiful and water crystal clear, however, beachfront in Port Antonio, if not all over Jamaica, is privately owned, and San San beach is totally neglected and has been left to rot. The crystal clear water was filled with plastic and dumped food packs probably from cruise ships, that clearly had been in the water for months, not weeks or days. We spent about an hour and a half pulling all the garbage we could from the waters and making a huge pile back from the shore. The next day we discovered that our swimwear and shoes STUNK from the water, though fortunately the smell washed right out. There is a sea plant that grows densely in some of the water so, there is the possibility that the scent is from that rather than pollution, dunno, but anyway I can't recommend this beach in spite of the beautiful view and privacy. The sad thing is it could easily be cleaned up if the owners hired staff to do it and then maintain the efforts. I should also mention that its right across from Monkey Island, which makes me wonder about the water there too, and motor boats from nearbye Blue Lagoon go back and forth constantly to do a beachfront villa tour - which cannot be doing wonders for the water either.

Dirty and smelly!
Nov 2018 • Couples
Very disappointing. The beach is very narrow and is filled with rotting seaweed and plastic garbage. There was one person with a rake trying to do something but it needs some real TLC. Left immediately.

Clean and peaceful San San Beach
Sep 2018 • Friends
Needing a place to get away and recharge that is not crowded or over-priced? San San Beach in Portland, Jamaica is that place. Talk about a clean peaceful place to just chill and soak up Jamaica's natural beauty.

Family beach trip
Aug 2018 • Family
Took the family to Portland yesterday and as expected all the beaches were jam packed. However having spoken to the security at one of the popular spot he told me about this little hidden gem. Sure enough it was quite serene. With not the huge crowd(price may have something to do with it) but well worth it. Well kept lawns for resting after a good swim. The only drawback is the limited selection at restaurant but bring your own food and have a blast. Will definitely be heading back there.

San Beach was a Flop
Feb 2018
having heard of this beach I was enthusiastic to go there.
But on trying to get there, the beach was overun with Seaweed at that time and the facilities were non-existent.
It looks like it could be a nice beach if it was maintained properly.
Did not like what I saw and went to Fisherman's Cove which was not too far from San San beach and had a great time.

Dirty and overpriced
Apr 2018 • Couples
We visited the beach on saturday 21st of April 2018.
Had to pay 1000 Jamaican Dollar / 10 US$ a person to enter ( same price as the lovely Frenchman’s Cove next door) and we were really dissapointed. The views are nice indeed. But what could be a long stretch of paradise beach is a long strip of driftwood, rotting leaves and a huge amount of plastic and garbage. You can move towards the small, cleaned area in front of the beach bar. For us San San was an economical / ecological sin. Wished i had taken photographs as proof. If staying in that area or just a short stop, there are much better options.
