Cool mix of beauty and local culture
We stayed at a resort along Bloody Bay and were able to relax on the beautiful private beach with little interruption. However, just a few feet away were rows of tarp tents that aligned the beach as makeshift gift and craft shops. Wood carvings, handmade jewelry and paintings were among the things available to purchase, and the locals were friendly and outgoing. The sounds, sights, and smells of Jamaica were abundant as you walk the beach, and the locals were eager to negotiate and even throw in free gifts if you stopped in their "shops."

    Good beach
Decent beach. I was staying at an all inclusive in the area so it was direct access. A fair amount of drug dealers, which some people are interested in. The resort kept most of them off to the side. I didn’t like the market, I don’t like people yelling at me to come buy there trash but it is a decent beach with good water. I walked most of it and didn’t see any urchins or dangerous things that some other people mentioned in reviews. I’d say it’s worth a stop.

    A little bit of heaven
We stayed in the Royalton Negril resort at the head of the bay. Every morning we had the pleasure of looking out on this picturesque bay. To the right (looking out into the bay) of our Hotel, a twenty-minute walk along the beech, no hardship in the sunshine, is a large craft market, with a variety of stalls and fresh food sellers which is well worth a look.

With only four resorts on the beach, it is not as busy or crowded. Plus, the resorts maintain a security presence so the vendors behave themselves. Still there is a section of the beach with local vendors, and three grills offering freshly cooked seafood lunches.

We have been to this property twice in short order, because we liked it so much. What can I say; Jamaica, the coast line and beaches of Negril and Bloody Bay, the resort and the people...all the best. In spite of what it may say elsewhere, our actual last date of travel was November 2018. Everything was beautiful that time of year. A special thanks on our last trip to our concierge, Keisha for making it special.

We loved staying on Bloody Bay. It’s some of the most beautiful water I’ve ever seen. It’s like a giant swimming pool. You can walk for a long distance before even getting close to your chest.

We stayed at an all inclusive on Bloody Bay and will be returning. The bay has incredibly clear water, white sand and little to no seaweed. Plus, not being on 7 Mile Beach provides fewer people and vendors, and less breeze making it easy to enjoy the water and sand.

Hello everyone. I have been to this area before and just had to go back. We stayed at the Riu Tropical Bay. I did post a review on the resort for all to read. The beach is the best part of BloodyBay. The location is great for just about anything you want to do. Lots of water sports and a few shops on the beach that sell anything you want. If they don't have it they will get it. If you want to take a water trip there is only one boat Captain, Henry. Henry is a personal friend of ours and will take great care of you. He can take you fishing or to Rick's. He also can get anything you need for a good price. I am a police officer in the states and I always think safety first. You can trust this guy. He took us to his home to see his new guest house he plans on renting out. If you want to get away from the big resort for a night. It was a great time.We were able to see the hills of Negril and hang with the locals for a beer. If you see him tell him Jason"the cop" says hi. You will get a better deal.
There are many music performers in the area that walk the beach and play music for tips. Most are not that great. However one person is a Negril Icon. His name is Ancel W Powell. You can't miss him, he only has one arm. You can find his music on ITuens and videos on YouTube. Get " Meet Me in the Park". buy a CD from him and you won't miss. This guy is the real deal. He has played witht he likes of Beres Hammond. He is worth a greenback to hear a icon.
All in all the beach at Bloody Bay is the best. Soft white sand and warm clear water. The sunsets are the best I have ever seen. Please visit my profile for more great info on Negril. And feel free to ask anything. I will try to get back to you ASAP. Take Care Jcin.

Bloody Bay is IMO the area with the best beach if staying in the resorts in Negril. There is also a group of locals on the beach mid section that have a grill set up that will make you lobster and fish. It is called the 'Office of Nature'. When you see the locals at the grill, don't miss the opportunity to have some of the best food of your stay.

Just got back a week ago.Stayed at the Riu
when we first got to the hotel I was totally impressed-it wasn't your usual 'nice hotel'-it had a beautiful open tropical appeal like ' cosa blanca'
very beautiful clean georgeous place- thinking the room might be a little less impressive-
was I wrong. even the towels on your bed were shaped like animal with hibiscus flowers!!
The people working at the hotel always seeking to please and very pleasant-unexpectantly belting out a song when the mood struck them!
Wel the drinks flowed and the buffets-what can i say except the BEST!
we were impressed with the quality an diversity of the food- decorating with fruit carver to look like flowers,fish,etc-fantastic!
Entertainment everynite,beachpartys,dancers-very high quality- I would stay there again for sure and am already planning the next trip
My "ONLY" COMPAINT-for real was that the mattress was hard.
Beaches-clean white sand and turquoise water-I swam in it several times a day
Vendors were a little way off the property and were not a problem or bothersome-infact we had a nice time talking to the locals and found the Jamaican people very friendly.
One of our best times was horsebackriding and swimming in the ocean on horseback!!
Ricks cafe also a must-go by cateraman-10 days was not enough!
Bring US$-lots of 1's for tips -most places only deal in us$
Going to MB was very expensive-so unless u have to i would stay local- Negril is much nicer BTW-The water is OK TO DRINK! NO
PROBLEM MON
Just in case
I started 55 Then went down-30 or better sunscreen,moisture cream,bug[deet] only the last 2 days bothered us. usual stuff to bring-burn relief,ibprophen,cold tabs,exlax,diarea relief,bandaids
U WON'T REGRET STAYING HERE.

It's been awhile since I've been to Jamaica, but I remember thinking that "the place to be" would be in the stretch of resorts on the 7 Mile Beach. We initially booked at a resort there, but then my friend, who is a travel agent, told me that she just returned from Negril and viewed a brand new resort which was not even open, but would be by the time we would be going there. This "new" resort was the Riu Tropical Bay on Bloody Bay. We paid our "cancellation penalty" and it was well worth it! Although my main concern was not being on the 7 Mile Beach... Bloody Bay, in my opinion was the place to be!!! What a BEAUTIFUL stretch of beach! At that time, the whole beach on one side of the Riu Tropical Bay was undeveloped and "deserted", which is NOT the case now. We walked up and down Bloody Bay, and one day, walked the 7 Mile Beach, to see what we were missing.... Although the 7 Mile Beach was "nice", and that's where Margaritaville was, and the stretch was resort, after resort... some nice, some rather run down... we were SO happy to be on Bloody Bay, instead! At that time, there were fewer people, and it was much nicer! If I ever went back to Negril, this is where I would return to!

This is one of the best beaches in Jamaica. Why? The bay is calm, clear, beautiful water with no waves to beat you to death! It is lined with resorts but in between two resorts is a place called the "Office of Nature" where you can eat freshly caught lobsters prepared Jamaican style! Next to the Office of nature is a little shanty town of about 15 tents where you can purchase true local Jamaicans arts and crafts unlike the imports sold in Times square by Indians or Pakistanis not Jamaicans. (Read review on Times Square shopping in Negril)
Some of the activities you can experience at Bloody Bay are: Snorkeling, Jet skiing, Parasail, Water skiing and souvenir shopping!

One thing you will experience while walking on that beach is you will be confronted by locals offering to sell you just about anything you can think of. They can be somewhat pushy but if you look them in the eye and say "No Thank you" they pretty much leave you alone.

I hope you find this review helpful. if so, please let me know. Thanks for reading!

Not only are the cliffs to the side of Bloody Bay some of the best hidden coves and snorkeling, the history of the bay is impressive too! The pirate Jack Rackham got his nickname from his fondness of wearing calico underwear. His mistress was Ann Bonny and his sidekick was Mary Reed, AKA “Bloody Mary”, who was brought up as a boy and was considered to be more ruthless than any man. For three years they pillaged British ships along the north coast and made their home in Negril. They were captured at a rum punch party in Negril, around Bloody Bay & were tried and sentenced to death. Both women were pregnant and given life sentences. Jack was hung in Kingston (Rackham Key) and Mary died in jail of fever. Bloody bay also got its name from the butchering of whales in the bay.
