We purchased a season pass in advance on line as it seemed cheaper than one off. This worked well as the kids went three times and this more than covered the extra cost. A good facility, we had fun. Beware Negril is a ridiculously overpriced place.

I went to Negril In January 2007 and visited Kool Runnings Water Park. What a pleasure that was! I mean, I thought I was in the States at Rapids or something. The people were really nice, the rides were superb. My kids loved it! I would refer anyone and their families to go. koolrunnings.com

It cost my wife and I $56 for the two of us to get in. You enter into a small video games arcade, and can obtain a key for the lockers in the gift shop (J$700 deposit, and you get J$300 back). The lockers were small, but safely held our valuables.

We then ventured out to the main part of the park. There are a series of maybe 3 small rides in the first area, and then a larger set of 4 slides in the next. The slides are pretty good fun, and some of them require you to ride tubes (either individually or some of the bigger tubes allow up to 3 people). In truth, we got bored with the slides after an hour or so. As some of the other posters have said, its quite a small park (especially when compared with US theme parks), so unless you have kids (who are likely to be preoccupied for many more hours) there is not enough here to justify the price of entry.

There is only one small and rather basic restaurant (see picture) selling things like fish sandwiches and jerk chicken (for about J$600 each).

At the back of the park is a small children's area with mini-slides and a pool.

There is also a lagoon on which you can be taken out on a guided raft. It looked pretty pokey, so we gave that a miss.

The toilets and changing rooms are reasonably clean and do the job.

Lastly, some of the reviewers have indicated that the slides may close when it rains. This was certainly not our experience today. It was pouring down for about 2 hours. We waited in the restaurant for an hour before I got impatient and decided to venture out and try the slides in the rain. All of the rides were open and the rain had become a strong downpour at this time.

Awful place, cost 28 dollars each to get in ($112 in total) for 2 adults and 2 kids. Half of the slides weren't working, you only get part of the locker money back, the lazy river is green in colour and looks germ ridden. The floors are so hot you burn your feet! It's very low budget for a high entry price. You have been warned!

We at Kool Runnings would like to apologize for the condition of the lazy river on the day of your visit. Here at Kool Runnings, water quality is of the utmost importance as we strive to provide a fun and safe envrionment for all of our patrons. We maintain our pools according to international standards,  Oour chemical levels are checked at hourly intervals and adjusted based on our readings to maintain clarity and safety.  Every morning, each of our slides and pools is are tested before the park is officially declared open. On the morning of your visit,  we were performing upgrading work on some of our pool filters which caused the water in the lazy river change from its crystal clear color.to a dark green. While the chemical levels were still within acceptable limits up to par, we  played it safe by closing lazy river until the normal color was restored as it was by late that evening.the next morning. Knowing that this closure affected some of our slides, we offered all patrons a 25% discount for the day. Our upgrading work was complete by the following day, and all our pools are back to their usual crystcal clear selves. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience this caused and welcome the opportunity to make it up to you on your next visit.

The Kool Runnings water park is not a well-run amusement park and was a disappointment for me and my son who I took there on his 9th birthday while on a family vacation in Jamaica. We were the only non-locals to attend the park that day and we felt like outcasts with the local children completely disregarding us by cutting in front of us wherever we went. The staff members working that day were also quite unhelpful and preferred to either ignore us or yell at us rather than try to help when we couldn't figure out the "local rules" operating at the park. For example, when we arrived we couldn't find where to get the inner tubes and when we asked a staff member he shrugged his shoulders and said "I guess they are all taken" when he should have told us that the local rule is to simply just grab one from someone whenever there not holding onto it! Another example is when we went to get a drink we stood at the concession counter for a few minutes while the two girls behind the counter chatted with each other and they didn't acknowledge us until I interrupted their chat. Their response was "Oh, do you want something?" Yet another example was the staff member running the Mongoose slide who I had issue with several times over the course of the day. We climbed the steps three different times to go down the mongoose slide and we were never able to because he was so unorganized in his approach to managing the people and the lines. The last time we waited "in line" over twenty minutes only to watch every local kid cut in front of us and watch the slide go empty for minutes at a time while the operator tried to figure out which of the dozens of screaming kids should go next. Eventually we gave up as it was apparent it was never going to be our turn to go down the slide. I finally ended up yelling at the staff member as we walked back down the stairs so we could leave the park. Also, be warned that the concrete and bridge surfaces are extremely HOT and you are not allowed to have flip flops on the slides so be prepared for some feet!

The management at Kool Runnings Water Park is extremely disappointed about you and your son’s experience at the water park on such a significant day of your son’s life. This is completely in conflict with all the training and planning and preparation made each day in an attempt to ensure that all guests are completely satisfied. Many of our guests have questions even after their preliminary briefing on their arrival and we try our best to make ourselves available to assist in any way by looking out for first time visitors to the Park and to the island. Kool Runnings, priced at a lower rate than many other attractions, provides a desirable location for local and overseas guests and offers an opportunity for cultural exchange in a lively and fun filled environment. In an effort to make all patrons welcome, activities are conducted in which all can participate and foods offered include local as well as fun items young people associate with outings and amusement Parks. We must admit that there are those 3 days at the beginning of summer when the ratio of children to adult patrons is higher than any other period. The pattern has been well established that every year, several local school groups choose Kool Runnings as the place to be to cool off from the stress of exams at the close of the Jamaican school year. During those 3 days we typically experience a high volume of local children. Many of these children, unless they have left the island, have never seen a water park, in fact have never seen an amusement park before and may have travelled in excess of 5 hours to visit Kool Runnings. This and having the opportunity to be released from the confines of the classroom in the company of all their friends may contribute to their being more than overly excited about experiencing our rides and their sheer determination to maximize on the outing. We apologize if you felt alienated or uncomfortable. We are taking steps to make our hotel and tour operator partners acquainted with the fact that those 3 days in particular are extremely busy at the park and that overseas guests may have a much better experience coming on another day. Our greeters at the Park will also be told to take the time, however busy they are, to take overseas visitors and non school group patrons aside and urge them, should they not wish to leave, to take advantage of the activities offered at the new Adventure Zone first of all and leave the water slides until late afternoon. At that time the crowds thin out as the children begin the long journey home. We thank you for taking the time to review and certainly appreciate your feedback. We encourage you to write us personally at info@koolrunnings.com so that we can try our best to make it up to you. Regards, The Management and Staff of Kool Runnings

There are many reasons I like this place.

1. Location - in cool laid back Negril
2. Wonderful staff
3. Well-trained staff (there's a difference)
4. Activities for those who do not wish to slide or float
5. Activities for ALL age groups

A few downers are:

1. Being unable to bring your own food in, this is important because
2. The food sold there is expensive

The entry fee might seem like a lot - but you get a lot of thrill for your money.

You must go there at least once!

Had a fun afternoon at the water park with 2 kids age 7 and 9 and my husband and I. There are nice shaded spots to read for those of us so inclined and the slides and water rides were varied, exciting and not too busy to enjoy. This seems to be a local gathering spot with patrons from all over Jamaica coming in for the day.

The park is awesome the slides are off the hook, when your tired of all the exicment and just want to relax you head to the lazy river to unwind. The food is also good as their is a wide variety to chose from and i must say the MC at the microphone kept the place rocking to his music. The musical chairs game that was played was excellent well co-ordinated i must add likewise hulla hoo and guess the song and artist. I am definetly going back .

First they weren’t open on time. Then they told us they had just juiced the pool so it might be good to wait longer before letting the kids swim. And then they wanted $50 per person in cash without producing a ticket or receipt.

Last time I was here I found it to be a little on the high side in terms of price, but my kids didn't care. They love it here. It's nicely maintained, and as good as any water park I've gone to in the states. Its a good time for the young ones (and adults too)

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for your review. We are happy to hear that your kids enjoyed our water park. In terms of pricing, we do appreciate your feedback. We have found that in general once guests learn that they can spend the entire day here inclusive of rides for one flat rate, especially when compared to other attractions, they feel they gained value for money. We also have our twilight rate where guests can pay half price beginning at 4 pm. We do hope to see you again soon! Next time you come check out some of our new addition for adults like Paintball and Rafting on the Great Morass. Regards, Shari
