Mayfield Falls, skip Dunn's River if you're in Negril, this is much better

Want to see a spring fed waterfall that you climb up (450 ft in elevation) and don't want to be surrounded by mobs of zombie like tourists at Dunn's River? Yup. Visit Mayfield... read more

I went to scout this place a few days ago for a group outing later this year. The positive ratings and pics of lovely manicured lawns were not my experience. Road to location are in poor condition and not good for large buses. The property was overgrown and untidy. Change rooms small and unattractive [lets say old/rustic]. Access to the... More

Want to see a spring fed waterfall that you climb up (450 ft in elevation) and don't want to be surrounded by mobs of zombie like tourists at Dunn's River? Yup. Visit Mayfield Falls for a true Jamaican adventure. Hire a cab in town to take you there (1 hr drive through plantations, papaya fields up into the mountains past... More

A 60 min drive from the coast into the interior takes you through small towns and villages that hang off the narrow steep sided roadway and then past fields of sugarcane. A short hike then takes you through dense bush up to the river. A quick change at the Mayfield falls complex, where lockers are available, and you’re soon being... More

Our guide was Sean, and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took pictures for my boyfriend and I and told us a lot about the native plants (and had us taste one!). Very cool and the falls were absolutely beautiful and fun to climb. This is definitely worth a morning/afternoon visit if you are near the area! We stayed... More

Our driver said this is his favorite tour and he was right. It's a bit of a ride up in the mountains but once you get there enjoy yourself. Our guide Dennis was entertaining, enlightening and helpful in many ways. We are all between 61-65 and this was not a difficult walk in the river to the various falls. These... More

Great, secluded spot. Shane was an AMAZING guide. Don't forget to tip the guides (they don't get paid). Expensive to get in, but some of the money supports the local community, which seemed like a fair trade off. Great place. Take an underwater camera.

The Guide was terrible and expensive. It was 20$ entrence fee per person + "a donation of your heart" but at least 10 $ per person. He pressurised us to pay. The tour was only for half of the promised time and my friend got injured because the water was not deep enough and the guide said "jump"

No place in Jamaica felt like a tourist trap like this one. You need to walk upstream IN the river so you can't take your cash and stuff with you, but they have lockers for your convenience ... conveniently rented at $6 USD. It's not a good idea to do the walk bare footed in the stream, but they have... More

I had been to Mayfield Falls over 30 years ago and finally got the chance to return. It is still the quiet little oasis I remember, with a few more buildings and better walkways to get down from the parking lot. We had our guide Louis take us through the falls and he was very accommodating to myself and my... More

Picturesque, natural river with plenty of little falls and pools to soak in. You need water shoes as sometimes the rocks are a little slippery. We were lead by a guide and a photographer with Chukka Tours. We were never rushed even if some wanted to spend a little extra time at a particular spot. Small group of eight. We... More
