About
Hit the hottest spot west of Kingston to sip delicious cocktails and dig into some jerk chicken and fresh seafood overlooking stunning views. Book a day trip from Montego Bay to jump straight into the ocean from the 35-foot-tall cliffs within the bar or people-watch and lounge in the pool if you’re in a more laidback mood. The DJ keeps the stereo blasting to make sure everyone has an amazing time on the dance floor. Since Rick’s Cafe is close to Jamaica’s westernmost point, watching the sunset here is a truly amazing experience. Families are welcome. – Tripadvisor

Too much money for the short time spent there
Everyone said GO TO RICKS CAFE!!! But after our experience, I likely wouldn’t say the same. We had a party of 9… the transport cost was $20 a person plus tip. $123 for appetizers and water and Pepsi. And the other party’s bill was close to $200! This was afternoon appetizers. The music was so loud that we had to YELL to visit. The cliff jumping provided about 30 mins entertainment watching the professional diver. Just not worth the $500 putting from the resort for our party of 9.

Don’t get drawn by the hype - is it really for you?
I don’t get the hype here. We payed a lot of money to jump off a cliff! For families it’s not great - really loud specific type music, lots of dodgy smells and a lot of queuing and long wait times for average, overpriced food. I get it for younger groups - it would have been amazing for us, when we were in our 20’s but not now. We also only stayed 90 mins as that’s what was part of the cruise. As it turned out, we were glad but not if you love it. The catamaran cruise was good though.

Fun day at Rick’s. Jumping, drinking, eating, chilling…
We had a great day at Rick’s. We rented a pool side cabana for $200 for the day. My wife booked the #2 cabana in advance of this trip with Kristin. She was so nice and helpful. The cabanas are spacious. Rashmar took good care of us and provided great service. We tasted a few of the rum cocktails. They were all great. My favorite was Jamaican Mi Crazy. The beers were cold. We had them in an ice bucket to keep them cold. The pool was very nice. It over looks the entire restaurant and cliffs. The music was excellent. This made it a great party atmosphere. My wife and I are here for our 39th anniversary and decided to take the jump off of the cliff. I am glad we jumped. My wife posted a TikTok of our jump. This was our third trip to Rick’s. The two previous times were on a catamaran ride, and we only stayed for an hour and a half. It was nice to spend a day here. Enjoy.

Our first time visiting Negril and we were told that we HAD to visit Rick’s cafe during sunset. That part was true! Such an amazing experience. For the record - we’re middle aged, so different ages may have a different experience. We stood at the bar for about 20 minutes while bartenders conversed, danced, flirted and ignored us until my husband kindly pulled one to the side and asked if we could order drinks. Drinks were fairly expensive compared to other places we visited, but they were good. Music was VERY loud, with vulgar language- but we’re grown, so it’s not like we haven’t heard it all before. We watched a few courageous cliff jumpers and a few that had to be pushed by “liquid courage”. Safety staff members were there to make sure jumpers were kept in line. We only stayed for about an hour, but that was enough to say that we had gone and we did get to experience the awesome sunset. Don’t think we would go again, but I do recommend it when visiting Negril.

    Worth a trip
Bags are searched on the way in, can’t even bring water in. Drinks are very expensive & they add tax & tips to every transaction. You can pay by card which is good. Views are nice & it is a laugh. I’d go again if I was about the area.

    Bring Your Wallet
Visited Rick's Cafe on Monday, October 23. Great place, fun time, but bring your wallet. Drinks are greatly overpriced for size of the drink you received. Drinks range from $10 - $20 depending on the drink and come in an 8 ounce cup which is mostly ice.

    Yeah mon…it’s a must!
We hired a boat to take us to Ricks cafe. We got there around 12 noon, there were barely any people there so we practically had the cliffs to ourselves! The kids and adults had a blast jumping of the cliffs. There are 3 levels to jump from and a lifeguard at each level. It was a hot day so if we weren’t jumping we were just swimming in the water. We didn’t eat or drink there, we just went to gift shop and kids swam in the pool there too! Definitely worth going to, it was our favorite day in Jamaica!!!

    Wow! You have to go!
Wow! If you are in Negril (or Western Jamaica, you must go! The food isn't that great, and the drinks are what you can get anywhere, but, the location, views, and chance to leap into the sea make this a must-see. Plus, come in the evening for a jam-packed, music-filled night.

Would Reconsider with a Young Family
I had done a lot of researching about things to do in Western Jamaica and Rick's was always top of the list. I'm not sure how I missed it, but nowhere did I read this is a party place. It was not what I was expecting when I went with my 6 month and 2.5 year old. The music was loud, the place was busy, the staff weren't friendly and the sun was very hot (I know the sun was not their fault, but it was just a compounding factor). In our group that ranged from 6 months to 70 years old, I definitely was the most extreme in wanting to leave immediately. Others didn't mind as much and the couple in their 30s said it would have been better if you arrived ready to party (and maybe had already started). We went on Tuesday in November at 4pm and the DJ had it bumping already. The vast majority of jumpers were tourists and wasn't that exciting to watch. I got to see a couple locals and that was more interesting. The food and drink wasn't as pricey as I thought it would be. Just know what you are getting into. If I had known it was a party place I would have gone to Xtabi or another place where I could carry on a conversation while eating. If I wanted to party, then Rick's seems like the place to do that while watching a beautiful sunset.

Ok, but management could make it better.
I can say I've been. Food is overpriced for the amount you get.....if the order is even correct. DJ is mediocre at best and overcompensates by increasing the volume to a point where you can't converse with a person sitting right next to you. Lots of seating, but it is a small venue and you can not escape the volume. This alone ruined the experience and gave several us in our group a headache. Half the volume would have been perfect.

Have many years of wanting to go to Ricks Cafe went today and found that it had poor service, over-priced and no vibe.

Given COVID hardly and visitors so you would think staff would be attentive and provide great customer service. When we went in we had to seat ourselves not one member of staff and I counted about 10 came to see if they could help us. No service staff just standing around chatting looking bored. So many staff and so few guests.
$5 for red stripe is robbery when no service or vibes the view alone not justify. Also cant understand why DJ not have bad weather set up he pack up and go home.
When I went to pay the bar tender asked if I wanted to leave a tip....but why you not offer any service whats ever and over price your beer, plus close of music.

There are many better places to go in Jamaica.

Rick’s is a Negril Staple. It’s one of those must visit places if you’re in the Montego Bay, or Negril area.

Upon entering Rick’s, you can’t help your feet from moving as you’re immersed by the vibe, energy and music. It’s predominantly a bar/restaurant, but in a vast open space, all overlooking a cliff face and open inlet from the ocean. The majestic azure waters, couples with the immense cliffs are mesmerizing.

To add to the fun, there are an assortment of cliff jumps platforms manned and setup at various heights raging from 6’ all the way up to 35’ (2-11 meters) from which you can jump or dive into the deep water (roughly 25’ deep). Each of these stations is monitored by a lifeguard to attempt to avoid injury, and while injuries can occur jumping from the higher platforms, if you do so safely it can be exhilarating and an absolute rush.

When you’ve jumped, the clarity of the water is simply breathtaking and the music and vibe just adds to the experience.

For those not seeking the adrenalin rush, a simple jump from 6’ or simply climbing into the water from a ladder is also doable and provides the ability to swim and enjoy the water. Alternatively an drink or more, dancing or just people watching is also fun. There are also some “professional” divers that occasionally do a radical jump or dive to thrill the crowds. Also just watching the cliff jumping add to a the fun and enjoyment.

Rick’s is a definite must visit when in Negril or nearby. Highly enjoyable!

Visited last wednesday with the group I was with and although didn't expect to do any cliff jumping I did the 27 and 40 feet jumps twice which were absolutely exhilarating.

Watching Spider the Diver jump from 80 feet was seriously impressive.

The view as the sun sinks behind the horizon is something else as well.

Seriously expensive though and the staff will try and rip you off if they get the chance (were three times charged from 11 drinks instead of 10).

There are other places with cliffs that you can go to in Negril to enjoy beautiful sunsets. However, if you are a party animal, then this is the right place for you. I regretted telling my driver to pick me up in two hours as I was done after 30 mins as the sun was already gone. One thing I wished I knew was that they offered free pick-up from your hotel and I believe the drop-off fee is 10 usd which is still cheaper than what Taxi's charged round-trip.

What’s not to love?

You can jump from a 10 foot or a 30 foot cliff right from the restaurant. (No worries there is a life guard there all the time)

You can have some of their great food and drink.

You can watch an amazing sunset as you listen to the DJ or live music.

Rick's is an iconic landmark in Negril and certainly worth a trip. However, I wouldn't go for sunset and I wouldn't plan to stay long. Other than the cliff jumping (which is worth the trip and really exciting) it's a tourist trap with expensive drinks. We stopped on a day we chartered a boat. Our captain suggested we go early in the afternoon because it gets crowded closer to sunset. He was correct -- we were able to cliff jump (after an overpriced drink) and then we were done. There are better/more relaxing places to watch the sunset. Bottom line - go jump and move on.

We went with Tui on the Adults Only Catamaran cruise to Rick’s Cafe. We did this excursion in April 2018 and March 2022 and the 2nd time was even better.
Cost $80 per person, including open bar with unlimited fruit rum punch, beer, rum, vodka & coke etc…plus banana chip snacks & mini biscuits on the Catamaran.

A coach picked us up from Royalton Negril hotel and dropped us off at Margaritaville Seven Mile Beach (7-10 minute drive).

I absolutely love the beautiful beach and the vibe of Margaritaville. There are plenty of fun props to take holiday photos.

We all boarded the catamaran and the fun began, music and rum punch flowing.
The crew on the boat were amazing, they were climbing the ropes and preforming aerobics, dancing, serving drinks and personally bringing all the guest drinks. We felt very safe and the captain was very strict and made sure all the guest obeyed the rules. An excellent crew, very professional and well organised.

Our 1st stop was to take part in some snorkelling in the ocean. The trip included the free uses of snorkelling equipment.

After snorkelling we headed to Rick's Café.
Rick’s Café is perched on the edge of a cliff above a sea cove and you can see locals dive into the water from the 10-metre cliffs.
Rick’s café is what Jamaica is all about and we will return to jump off a higher cliff.
My 1st visit I was too scared to jump and regretted not jumping but this time I jumped and the feeling was amazing.
Rick’s Café is all about the vibe, atmosphere, the people, music, food, drink and ticking it off your bucket list to jump.

Best value and experience excursion.

The best way to visit ricks Cafe, if planning to visit quickly for the cliff diving is by boat. You can swim ashore, get in line and jump off in a matter of minutes. Know what to expect if you take a cab: This is a lively Jamaican party bar with lots of drinking and bong smoking. They usually include 4 hours of cab fare in the trips and expect you to take your time.

Stunning scenery spot and great diving pool.

We had lunch here and although a little pricey we really enjoyed the opportunity to dive and watch the divers.

Worth a visit, just beware you cannot take your own drinks or food in.

This spot may be a victim of over commercialization, but it is still a great place to visit. You can get drinks, get food, or, like us, not spend a penny and still enjoy yourselves.
You can enter for free and just watch the fellow tourists jump from the platform, or, once or twice an hour, watch one of the locals jump from the 40 foot platform.
The most popular time is to time your visit with the sunset, as it is an unobstructed view of the horizon.
