We booked this through our Carnival Cruise. The boat ride to the Falls was great. The scenery was beautiful with the water and the beaches. They offer water and punch on the ride to the falls. Climbing the falls was awesome! The boat ride back to the ship was where the party began! Free rum punch was great! Music and dancing! Captain Kirk and his crew were excellent!

Just got back from Jamaica via a cruise and have 3 suggestions if you plan to climb Dunns River Falls. First, get there early (the ship shore-excursion mobs arrive shortly after docking) so hire a private taxi to beat the crowds (we were very happy with lebert tours) Next: Hire a guide at the falls. We watched one young man, climbing without a guide, slip on the rocks, fall into the waterand ruin his camera and finally: Wear water shoes.

Dunn's River Falls was so beautiful and one of the best things we did in Jamaica! We have a few recommendations: bring water shoes (otherwise you have to rent/buy them there); bring a disposable waterproof camera (or two!) - don't even think about bringing your digital, you'll be so worried about getting it wet you won't have any fun; and try it without a guide - we had so much fun we climbed them twice! We were also able to hang out in the pools of water along the falls and set our own path. They don't really tell you that you're able to climb without a guide (there's a sign at the start that says it's done at your own risk) so don't be fooled! It's much more fun to try it by yourselves! Email me with your questions or for our tips on how to have the best time in Jamaica!

I recently booked a private charter with this company after using them previously on a trip to Jamaica. First time was great and all ran smoothly, this time was a disaster and despite several attempts to contact them, I’ve not heard from them since our sailing. Long story short - the charter was booked for a day when the weather was unsettled due to heavy rain less than 2 hours before sailing. We raised this concern but they insisted the trip should go ahead or we would loose all of our money. Needless to say the water was too choppy for the planned trip and we had to return early due to people being unwell and unable to fully enjoy the experience, which was organised as a celebration. Staff on board were nice and deserve a mention. However, I’ve not heard from the company since the cruise ended despite sending two follow up emails. I rarely leave bad reviews but after spending close to $3k, the courtesy of an email response would be respectful and at least some acknowledgment of our experience. The bigger issue is that the celebration that was ruined and that’s even more disappointing. The boat could have been cleaner and the dietary specifics that we highlighted before the cruise were ignored. Overall, I’d give this less than 1 if it was possible and advise that people look elsewhere.

I was looking forward to an exciting day of adventure on the afternoon of December 30, 2019 with Cool Runnings. The pick-up was on time. However, I must point out a few items that were severely disappointing.

1) The wait time for the boat at the dock was way longer than it needed to be. We waited 30 minutes for the boat to arrive to pick us up.
2) Once on board it was obvious that the boat was well past capacity. We estimate by 50 people. This was obvious by the lack of places to sit on the boat.
3) When it became time to snorkel. We all went to the back of the boat to get our gear. Turns out there was not enough gear for all on board. Once again I would estimate 50 people did not get snorkel gear and had no opportunity to see the pretty fishes at the reef. That of course included our group of 5. I'm sure there were ways that this could have been fixed, but the crew did not seem interested in having people share equipment or calling for another boat to give us more gear.

I will say the Dunn's River falls was a ton of fun. That was a great attraction and we had a fun guided tour. We all really enjoyed that part of the tour.

Finally, the dancing on board that boat on the return trip was fun. The crew made that a priority to include all on board.

Still we were disappointed in this trip being obviously oversold, and that took away from 1/2 of the trip.

I wrote to Cool Runnings regarding this experience, and have yet to get a response from them.

Came to Jamaica for my birthday with my family and everything has gone well except for this experience. It was completely different than what we expected. We were picked up and left the hotel at 9:30am, drove with two employees who mentioned several times that they should be tipped and not the people at the boat dock because they lie and say that they will spit the tip with them. When we drove to the boat dock area it was a small beach with gift shops and a rice and bbq chicken buffet and bar. After driving for 1.5hrs we waited to get onto the boat until 1pm for more buses to drop people off. There were about 200 people waiting to get on the bus. When more people started coming one of the guys in that area all of a sudden told us where we were sitting we had to pay for those seats. Unbelievable. Every time someone needed to go to the bathroom, guys were constantly asking us if we wanted weed, every single time. Couldn’t go anywhere in that small area without being asked if we wanted to buy weed. The first time is fine but I said no multiple times and was still asked. By the time the boat was ready to board it was 1:15pm and they said we would go to the river and back by 4:30pm. There was no way all of those people were going to get off, climb the river and get back on the boat to snorkel and then get back at 4:30pm. We thought we would back to our hotel by 4:30pm as that was the end time of the excursion. They said it could take 5 hours to get back with traffic. All 7 of my group decided not to get on the boat and go back 1.5hrs back to our hotel. Not worth the chaos at all. When we were heading to the car, our original driver said she wouldn’t see us so she should get a tip. We paid her a tip and left. Terrible customer service. Save your money.

Very boring
Very crowded, extremely crowded
Very boring
No one told us to be able to order food to eat we have to bring cash. Unfortunately we don’t walk around on a boat with excessive cash.
No alcoholic drinks allowed until the return trip, which hours later.
The music is a way too loud
Can’t even hear yourself talk
Total waste of time and money and experience
I wouldn’t do this again.
Extremely boring, just being honest

We took day tour to Dunns River Falls from Montego Bay. The staff at the resort did a poor job of explaining the trip. While very pretty, The fact that the falls are dangerous and that one needs to climb up them was never mentioned. We are very athletic but there were a lot of people on that trip that were barely able to climb up, thereby endangering themselves and others.

First of all, the guides are dangerous. Having a chain of 20+ tourists holding hands is a recipe for disaster. This position throws one’s center of gravity off balance and increases the chance of falling. Our guide was more interested in photo ops than in safety. Even experienced mountain climbers use a harness and rope! The group should be of 6 people maximum with a guide at the front and at the back of the tourists.

I watched in horror as my cousin plunged down 50 feet after being knocked off balance by another person. Fortunately, another tour member was able to stop her from falling further. No help from the useless guide who yelled at her instead and then asked for tips! Two others in our group also had falls. We learned later from the locals that many are injured at the falls and one man broke his back and is now a paraplegic!!

My cousin was severely bruised and sought medical attention from the first aid station at the falls after the tour. The so-called nurse just wiped her wounds with betadine and sent her on her way. The next few days she was in severe pain and finally went to the nurse at Breezes. She applied bacitracin and told her she would be fine. After arriving home, my cousin continued to feel worse. Upon seeing her physician, she was advised that she had a severe infection that was a day away from IV antibiotics in the hospital. The doctor himself had visited Dunns River Falls and said they are loaded with bacteria and that the wounds should have been wrapped and kept out of the water post-fall. The last thing anyone needs is to receive poor medical care in a third world country!

By the way, the harassment by the crafters at the Falls is disgusting. We were surrounded by pushy, highly aggressive vendors screaming, “It’s free, it’s free!” as they shoved unwanted goods into our hands. They then tried to shake us down for payment. It was a very unsafe excursion, especially for single women.

EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN MORE THAN ONE WAY
I reserved the falls through Carnival, they rated it as a moderate shore excursion. It is a 900 foot high climb. We had 90 year old women expecting literately a walk in the park. I knew something was up when all you hear is ambulance sirens coming and going from the attraction, but me and my family continued anyway. I have experience as a firefighter and rescue technician, and I found it to be the most dangerous situation to be in after the first 10 feet. It was the week of Christmas 2005, it was the busiest day the attraction has ever seen, they were jamming people in so tight, that they made us go up on a ledge that is normally not used, that is when tradgedy struck us, the ledge was slimey, and I could not see that under the current of water, and I fell 20 feet backwards down the falls, we had only went 100 feet to begin with. I fell with my leg underneath me and was unable to move, the park nor our guide would assist me, the continued on, i am 43, my 25 year old daughter was able to summon help from other americans in another group to help lift me out of the falls to a place that an ambulance could get to me. I had to be extracted from the falls without splinting my leg, which caused a lot of sufferring on my part. The park has no rescue measures in place, and to top it off, the guide wanted my wife and daughter to continue on while I was being splinted and taken away to a hospital. You must pay cash or credit at Jamaicas Hospitals, or they will NOT assist you, your insurance is as worthless as the care you will benefit from. Their were loose dogs in the ER, not to mention the filth. There was a heart attack victim, and another victim there from our ship while I was there. My suggestion for this attractio is "Just Say No", and if you do say yes, book it through your ship and get their travel insurance, and make sure that you can afford to fly yourself back home. Carnival will NOT wait for you. It will take me weeks to recover, and I will have severe scars for the rest of my life from this attraction. And I am bruised from my neck to my ankles, and currently immobilized.

We were at Dunns River Falls 2/3/05. My husband is 63 and I am 59 years old. My husband climbed the falls half-way he became tired and felt he had enough, they have a landing 1/2 way up. I was able to continue to the top and felt it was well worth it. The guides are the best, but they look for a tip from everyone. We gave him $5.00 US money and he did not seem too pleased. We took the shuttle taxi for $5.50 round trip and paid the $10 admission fee. We were not hassled by any vendors selling there wares as we left through the exit gate. The guides carried our waterproof camera and took pictures of us. I highly recommend going to the falls. If you do not climb the falls, you can take the stairs on the side of the falls and watch everyone climb. The falls are beautiful and well worth seeing.
