I've been there and it surprised me because I always thought of it as just a Disney cartoon until I was actually there. It's more than beautiful, brimmed with ferns, and tall banana trees. And everything is green, even the bunches of bananas high up in the trees. I did not see any wildlife but I do not doubt that Fern Gully is home to many exotic animals. Definately worth seeing.

I loved the ride through Fern Gully. Our guide informed us that there was no wildlife there, I did not ask why. But is was beautiful. For those that do not have the opportunity or stamina to hike the rainforest, this cab/van ride is the next best thing you are going to get. And the large male sculptures are quite impressive, if not comical.

Great scenery during the daytime. Completely different in the dark and definitely more dangerous with few options to turn back once into the gully

This trip was not worth the time or money. You simply drive though a road surrounded by ferns which to the untrained eye (our eyes, I suppose) is just a bunch of tall plants and trees. I've seen much prettier sights driving cross-country in the US. The road is bombarded by a bunch of sellers trying to get you to buy their mass-produced souvenirs. No matter what they say, they didn't hand-make anything.

This small, 10-minute trip was so boring my husband and I didn't even know when we entered and when it was over. Its just a normal road. No entry gate or anything. A complete waste.

Fern Gully is not just a "dull stretch of highway" in Ocho Rios. One must consider the history of its creation when recognizing its true aesthetic beauty. The actual road was a river bed and an earthquake changed the course of this river. The road is not man-made but is an actual geographic alteration to the Jamaican rainforest. The road is now a winding and unpredictable series of twists and turns under a sheer canopy of green foliage. Fern Gully is home to the most diverse species of ferns; although, because of the natural disaster which occurred there, the specie numbers have begun to dwindle. Because of its natural curvature, those who are prone to motion sickness are actually recommended to sit at the front of the bus. Therefore, the trip through this land is not only a beautiful sight, with the tree roots literally a fingers touch from your window seat, but is an adventuresome ride for the whole family. While the tour would only be a true sight to see during the daylight, to give you the idea of the sudden & hair-pin like turns, Jamaicans would much prefer to take on the road at night because the headlights bouncing off the amazing wall of forestry eases navigation of the blind turns verses the continuing melding of greens during the day.

I went there, and was eaten alive by mosquitos during a walk. Everyone was. Then I got sick a week later and I think it was from the bug bites.

Also, some people think 'Fern Gully' relates to this place. It doesn't. The Fern Gully from the movie is near Australia.

The Jamaican 'Fern Gully' is really just a a stretch of dull highway. If you stop, people will try to sell you nick-nacks and you'll get eaten by bugs.

Not classy.

Fern gully is a nice drive through a little valley/canyon where both sides have been planted with a variety of ferns. The road winds through the canyon and you can admire the tropical greenery on both sides of the road. I am a big admirer of lush, tropical plants but found this a bit disappointing. Maybe that's in part because I was driving and had to watch the road and could only glance occasionally at the greenery and in part because there is, as far as I can tell, no walking trail through the area, which would be a much better way to enjoy the scenery.
