We visited during the week and so there were not very many people at all so we felt pretty safe considering the social distancing requirements because of the pandemic. Our raft captain was AMAZING. Shout out to Peter!!!! He showed us a good time, took pictures of us and engaged us in conversation the entire time. We didn’t feel pressured to buy the trinkets on sale as is reported by some other visitors. It was a relaxing way to pass an afternoon and we definitely enjoyed it. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because if you drive yourself to the attraction you have to get dropped off to your car after disembarking the raft and this is done in a rickety SUV with other visitors.

Definitely the best of the excursions in that part of Jamaica which is located in Trelawny between Montego bay and Ocho Rios. This place is unreal! Beautiful is an understatement.

For me it was a memorable, serene, peaceful and therapeutic experience made all the more enjoyable by our friendly Raft Captain Peter. It was a joy and privilege to be in his presence.

We bought the $22 dollar bottle of rum punch served in a bag of ice at the bar before boarding. There were vendors selling souvenirs, drinks. fruit and coconuts etc...placed at intervals along the riverbank but not enough to make it feel intrusive and there is absolutely no pressure to buy. I would advise that you take some extra money to tip your raft captain at the end to reward his efforts.

A must do if you want to capture the real natural beauty of Jamaica.

Highly recommend this tour. the scenerie is breath taking, the water is clear/clean, the surrounding is vibrant green and we had a great time with our Raft Captin Rolando aka Rasta Pasta. Rasta engaged with us, provided us with history about the rivers, the limestone healing mineral rock, taught us how to raft and took wonderful pictures. Positive vibes 100% MUST DO ACTIVITY in Jamaica 🇯🇲

Wanted to do some excursions whilst in Jamaica and came across the Martha Brae River rafting.
We booked at the hotel front desk cost was $85 per person.
We got picked up from the hotel and taken to the site where we board the raft.
It was very tranquil and relaxing. The captain was very friendly and gave us some history of the river.
I would definitely recommend

My husband and I did the Martha Brae rafting activity in December 2019. We did not do it with a tour group, but instead drove there ourselves. The trip itself cost $35 USD per person and we also generously tipped our captain Wilky. Please note you must pay in cash - credit cards are not accepted!

We were one of the last people of the day to do the rafting, because we waited until the sun was not as strong and it was worth the wait. By the time we did the rafting, there were no longer any vendors or bars open along the way, so if that sort of thing matters to you, make sure you don't wait until the end of the day. We didn't mind missing them.

It was a beautiful and relaxing time and my husband especially enjoyed this activity. Our captain provided a smooth ride, and was knowledgeable about the river.

We have recommended this to our friends and we will do this again. This is worth the trip to the Martha Brae!

Saw this on Ainsley Harriott chef programme. Bit of a trek from Negril, probably much better if you're based in Montego Bay.

Gift shop on arrival (you'll not go back at the end). Tip: If you're looking at buying a small raft model, wait until you're actually on the raft, not at the shop - you'll get one offered cheaper.

Two persons per raft (double), plus the tour guide. Life jacket mandatory to start but you can take if off (own risk) later for comfort.

A gentle punt along the river, taking in the awesome scenery & wildlife pointed out by the guide. He'll even let you have a go & take some snaps with your camera. You'll pass a few stores along the bank, no pressure to stop/buy & the guide will offer you crafts made by himself - again no pressure to buy. They will expect a tip but it’s not mandatory. Guides do put you at ease though & build up a good rapport.

Controlling the raft yourself is a must do, just for the photo opportunity. There's also a 'professional' photo at the end, which includes the guide+passengers. Also some small bamboo gifts on offer as you depart.

You could quite easily spend a bit if you get sucked into all the gifts & photos as we did but we didn't mind as we left with a few mementos & good memories. Purchases were our decision, nothing forced nor expected. No pressure to buy anything at all, just bear in mind they can all mount up.

A really tranquil place & unique experience. You've gotta try this.

We loved this experience. It's very relaxing. I would recommend bringing lots of smaller $$ bills. Besides the concessions and souvenirs at the top there are many people selling along the river. It would have been nice to get a drink here or there or buy something from some of them too but I had limited cash. ff you're not with kids you can even get off once or twice at a bar area.

Floating on Martha Brae River was such a great time! It was the only excursion we did during this trip to Jamaica. We really wanted to relax and enjoy the resort, Hilton Rose Hall, which we did. We were able to book the excursion through the resort the day before going for $147 for the two of us. The raft is optimal for two people and possibly a small child. If you have a bigger group, you can request the rafts float down the river close together. We opted for the 2:15pm trip so we would not have to wake up early, the other option was 10am. I am not certain of the actual tour company that took us out to Martha Brae but everything ran smoothly.

The tour bus came to get us (more like 2:30) and there were about 6 other people already on board. We were the last pick up (and first drop off) so that was great. Once we got to Martha Brae we signed waivers and had a chance to tour Miss Martha’s garden, use the restroom, etc. A drink (fruit punch) is included with your ticket and there is a bar if you want to purchase drinks for the ride. There is also a souvenir shop on site. While floating down the river, there are vendors selling drinks, coconuts and souvenirs so you can always stop then.

Our Raft Captain had a plethora of information for us! I learned that the water is fresh and you can even drink it. There is an underground filter and the water there services Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Falmouth and Negril. The ride is very peaceful and it is indeed a lazy river. You can choose to go in the water if you like. We did not opt to get in but our Raft Captain knew the areas where it was shallow and also where it was very deep. I did see one young lady in the water while we were on the river. Our Raft Captain was also a great photographer. He even told us the good areas for photos. Our Raft Captain had no issues letting me steer the raft. The ride itself is between 60 and 90 minutes depending on how many times you stop and how slow or fast the Captain is going. At the end, they take your photo, which is an optional purchase. We were back off to the resort once everybody boarded the bus. I would definitely recommend it on your next trip to Jamaica and I would do it again.

My daughter and I had not planned to leave our Hanson Back to the Island resort but so glad we did! Our tour guide Captain Ronaldo was THE BEST! Especially for decorating our raft with gorgeous flowers, for randomly singing, joking, and for being extremely knowledgeable about the environment. Ronald said it best, “all good things must come to an end.” We felt sad getting off the raft because we felt like we had made a friend. Excellent excursion!

Very peaceful and enjoyable raft ride in a unique long bamboo raft- hand made. Felt lush and tropical and very relaxing. I would recommend you bring a small cooler for the hour long ride. They do have a small bar at the start of the ride. And a little too touristy for me with the people selling items on the banks of the river....but they are trying to make a living. About a 45 minute or so bus ride from sandals resort
