The Olympia Gallery has been around for more than 20 years, and is well-reputed in the art community. I am on the mailing list, and receive an invitation to new showings by local artists. The Gallery is actually located in an apartment building which has an open concept three storey central area. The Gallery takes advantage of the innovative building design in its showings, which frequently complement the artists' paintings and sculptures. Art, archeture, statues, and a sanctuary of quiet reflection is to be found in this gallery. This is truly one of my true favourite places to take visitors while in Kingston. Creatated to become an arts community it still has that creative spirit. Say hello to the staff from me.

The Olympia Gallery is a commercial art gallery with a commendable selection of art for sale by Caribbean (primarily Jamaican) artists - suited to enthusiasts as well as collectors. The selection on display may appear limited; but this is typical of Jamaican commercial galleries. In this respect, they are quite unique in having electronically catalogued their inventory so they can email images if you are specifically interested in a particular artist, style etc. Also, they have a fairly good website representing some of their collection and they host exhibitions from time to time. While I appreciate the benefit of the online presence, I must admit that I take every opportunity to go there and spend time discussing art with Mrs Thwaites.…
