Booked thru tui but obviously subbed to these people.
Bus was late for pick up. Driver Joe and guide Nikisha? Friendly enough.

Few more pick ups and then a rest stop which seemed to be more for the staff benefit? I'm presuming the company have an agreement with this stop for the enforced purchase of correct footwear to climb the falls plus any other souvenirs etc. We were told the sticker on the back of our hand entitled us to a 50% discount yet the staff I the store told us this was not the case as there was already a 50% discount in place?
From there to the falls we were basically subjected to a 20 minute rant by our guide about the poor minimum wage in Jamaica, how the company charge us so much money for the trips and the staff don't see any of it, can't afford to buy property etc etc etc. Tiresome and essentially a long winded way of demanding a tip from all of us.
On arrival told you won't need sunscreen as it is all in the shade, apart from all the hanging about to be let in, briefings, led to various stages to fill in the detailed paperwork jamaica seems to insist on.
All in open sunshine. As all the fellas were advised to take their shirts off for the climb this was particularly poor advice!
Overall not impressed by tropical tours.
I have reviewed the falls climb separately.

We booked with Tropical Tours for four adults on June 29. The tours included Black River pontoon boat ride, YS Falls, and Appleton Estate Distillery. Total cost was $508. Unbelievabley it did not include lunch which was another &12 per person. We were transported on a small bus that fortunately wasn’t full enough to require 2 per seat. Unless you were very small and thin there’s no way two adults could share one seat. They must have been for children! The ride to the Black River was about 2 hrs. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable, pointing out some interesting sights along the way. The pontoon ride was just ok. Saw a few alligators and birds. Nothing more. Had lunch where we boarded the boat. Lunch was okay also. I wouldn’t say worth $12. Then onto the YS Falls. Unfortunately we only were allowed one hour (including changing into dry clothes afterwards)to experience the beautiful falls. The guides there were wonderful, helping you maneuver the slippery rocks and lending a hand if necessary. I went on the 15 ft rope swing at the the falls. What an experience! Before we knew it our time was up. Barely enough time to enjoy the beauty and relax. I suggest adding an hour there. Twenty minute ride to the Appleton Estates where we experienced the Rum distillery tour. We were given a very informative tour by a great guide. Lots of rum samples among other things to try. Nice gift shop and Rum to purchase. Now the 2 hour ride home was HORRIBLE. I’m thankful we survived to tell about it. I believe our driver was trying to make up time for the tour lasting a bit longer and therefore he drove like a complete maniac. Flying through crowded towns, passing people, cars, other busses at a high rate of speed. He took the curves way way too fast. I got quite car sick due to his very crazy driving. A bit too much to pay for no lunch included, a rather blah pontoon boat ride, and too little time at the Falls.

Airport transfers from Mobay to Ocho Rios and return. Overall the price is very good and booking through Hoppa seamless.
On arrival at Mobay the transport desk deals with you quickly and efficiently even sorting out your return journey times. Then there was a period of waiting in the van for the other passengers for the shared shuttle ( Not a problem to me)
A word of advice , make use of bathroom facilities before you leave the airport and have a drink and or snack as it is a 2 -21/2 hour journey with several stops to drop off guests only.
The minibus was not the most comfortable as AC not working properly, Unfortunately (no fault of the driver) due to an accident ahead of us we were stuck in traffic for a long time. With poor AC and no water the 8 of us in the bus were very uncomfortable. Complimentary small bottles of water should be carried and offered to passengers. Driver was polite and drove safely.
The return journey again uncomfortable though in a larger bus arrived on time but the driver not very hospitable to any of the many passengers picked up on the journey to the airport .

Good day liketravelling07, Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you found our prices affordable, the staff efficient and polite. However, we are terribly sorry that the air conditioning unit malfunctioned on the bus you traveled on from the airport. We will investigate the matter promptly and certainly hope that you enjoyed the rest of your vacation. Thank you for booking with Tropical.

We booked a Dunn's River Falls excursion with them. Never showed up on specified date, time, and location. Kept calling their business phone to no avail. Chatted with a rep on WhatsApp and she stopped chatting midway to the conversation. Horrible experience! If I could give zero stars, I would. Totally ruined our day.

I have no issue with the car but I was told I would get my 1000 deposit back within 24 hours. This is not thrifty and I use thrifty in America my husband is a branch manager in South Carolina and this is a bad reputation on them. I’m starting to feel like am nothing going to get me deposit back. After 2 days.

We used Tropical Tours to get from the Montego Bay Airport to a local resort. Even though we were 4 hours late arriving due to plane issues, they were still there to pick us up. Going home, we had to leave 2 days early but they were totally okay with that and arrived on-time at our resort and got us to the airport in plenty of time.

I personally own a travel company in Jamaica. And we have had the unfortunate experience of being swindled by Tropical Tours and their deceitful staff and management.

If you value your money and do not want to be taken from or lied too - we suggest you spend your money elsewhere.

This establishment is more than incompetent - they are purposely evasive and sneaky.

Specifically, the Manager Mrs. Phabian Scott - who is quite possibly the rudest and worst representative of travel and tourism on the island.

That being said.....I am ashamed this establishment exists in my country.

I travelled to Jamaica with my BF last month and while planning activities I decided to visit Port Antonio because since childhood it was described as the most beautiful parish. I shopped around and other companies were extremely expensive and only offered a driver without entry to attractions. Tropical Tours/Budget Tours was the only tour company that offered this day trip for an insanely reasonable price that included so many activities, so I reached out to them to investigate if it was too good to be true. Their correspondence was immediately and they were so informative and accommodating and felt comfortable booking with them as they answered all my questions and gave me payment options in advance. They picked up my BF and I at the hotel in a clean and comfortable van that included other travelers and we absolutely fell loved our guide Cheryl who was a treat providing so much information on the tour and did it with so much charisma. We also had a group of rude and obnoxious people with us and she handled them gracefully, never losing her cool. When we arrived to Port Antonio it was naturally amazing and the greenest place I've seen. We went to Somerset Falls first, which is smaller than Dunns River but way more beautiful and secluded. We were able to swim at the bottom of the falls and took a boat to get closer and into a cave underneath the falls. My BF suffers from back problems and the boat conductor took him out of the boat and to a section under the falls where the water massaged him...miraculously no more pain! We were allowed more time to swim around and take pictures and afterwards headed to the next attraction. Blue Lagoon completely took my breath away!! We had to pay $20 US extra for the boat ride on the lagoon but it was well worth it. I've never seen water with so many shades of blue/green...words cannot describe it. As we sailed around the lagoon we saw the villas of many rich/famous and as we continued further out where the lagoon met the sea, we were allowed out of the boat to swim in the warmest water ever. It was just gorgeous and it was delightful to see a speckled sting ray swim among our group. We then headed to Fisherman's Cove beach which is a private and super sexy beach with white sand and beautiful inlets and smaller adjoining rivers. Lunch was included on our trip and we were served chicken, fish, pork, rice and peas, fresh green salad and macaroni salad, along with dessert. Drinks were included, even Red Stripe! After Eating on the beach which was romantic and relaxing, we headed to the Rio Grande for rafting. As if we weren't having an amazing enough day, this was a perfect ending. Our raft captain was Valentine and he was a great guide who told us so much history about the river, the surrounding land, and about Sweet Jamaica overall. He even serenaded my BF and I with Jamaica folk songs ( I couldn't help to chime in and harmonize with him lol) It rained and boy was valentine prepared, providing us with an umbrella in the nick of time so we didn't soak. The rain in no way took away from the experience and after a 2 hour ride we were almost tranquilized lol. Overall this tour was A + and exceeded my expectations from the professionalism of the reps, guide (Cheryl), driver (Finney), the economy of the experience where we enjoyed so much, it was perfectly organized and other companies need to take lessons from you guys how to conduct business and how to make people fall more in love with Jamaica! I look forward to my next trip and will definitely use the company again. I already made the recommendation to my family visiting in June who anticipate having the same experience. Thanks again for wonderful memories.
