This museum contains the remains of our national heroes. It is one of the greatest Haitian national heritage. A place that brings us back to our history and our culture. This is the memory of our people.

The museum has a very interesting architecture, as it appears to be only a curved dome...until you walk down to a subterranean entrance. The architecture continues to draw your attention in the entrance and the layout of the galleries, which progressively display artifacts from the earliest to the most recent history of the nation, the most amazing of which is the anchor of Columbus' Santa Maria, which went down off the north coast of the island. A small entrance fee is well worth it for the knowledge you will take home with you about the history of Haiti. Also included is an art gallery which is equally informative and shows the various kinds of art for which Haiti has become famous.

This rather small museum is packed with history. Unexpected and beautifully done, it is basically in 3 sections with history, art and the tomb of former Presidents.

This small museum is dedicated to the early history of Haiti. It is well done . The poster signs are both In French and English. There are some early artifacts and beautiful paintings.

An interesting summation of the country's history, starting with the Taino people, who were decimated by diseases brought by the Spanish, up to the overthrow of French rule by the slave population following the French Revolution. A must-see.

Visited the museum which opened until 4 pm on the wednesday i visited. The cost to enter was about $5 US. You cannot take any photos. We had a guide who spoke english and creole and walked around with us and told us about the pieces we were seeing. I learned alot from the tour. It was very cool to see some of the items housed there. The scenery outside was very nice too. we took lots of pics outside.

Take a good guide book or hire a guide since there's not too much info posted - zilch in English as it's all in French. Don't miss the back gallery which contains paintings of historic figures. Also don't fail to visit the pond on the roof with beautiful reflections to be seen in the waters.

For 10 minutes you can get a brief little tour through Haiti's history. It literally is that quick. We had a gracious translator walk us through. The anchor from the Santa Maria was the most interesting artifact in the museum, but it is ALWAYS good to understand the history of a country you are visiting so take 10 minutes out of your day and check it out!

I was very impressed by the museum to tell you the truth. Comparing to the quality of life in Haiti , the museum's standards can be compare to any "high class' Amercian or European museum. Visiting the museum will give you an extended picture of the culture, history and mentality of the country.
