- Wendy OWarrington, United Kingdom10 contributionsGreat beachPensarn beach is a lovely sandy beach at low tide. Free parking makes it a great advantage as well as having free toilet less than 5 minute walk from gravel carp ark. At the moment, it’s one of the best beaches to visit. Even at 1pm there was enough room to socially distance and spread out. The weather was great at 25 degrees and sunny but still a lot of space. National Trust posted on the same day that Formby beach was 95% full by 9am. Photo was taken at 10:30 - quiet even on a hot dayTraveled as a coupleWritten August 13, 2020

Great to drive over the railway bridge, park on the beach, have a tea and sandwich and a lovely walk before just sitting back in the car and letting the sounds of the sea in through the window. We loved Pensarn Beach and had many pleasant walks along the beach and promenade. Lovely little cafe where we could purchase Welsh memorabilia and enjoy a delicious coffee. I would recommend this beach, especially in the warmer months of the year.

This is a brilliant beach for families and dog owners. The beach is divided during the summer months so that people who do not have dogs do not have to share the beach, there is a large dog beach too. The beach area is very clean and a mixture of large pebbles and sandy areas. There are lots of things to do around the beach area, amusements and bouncy castle, several kiosks and cafes too.

While on holiday in a house close to the beach we used the beach everyday, in the sunshine and in the rain and we loved it. The beach is a bit stoney but as the tide goes out there is more sand and shallow water which makes it prefect for a toddler. Also has free parking and was not busy. There are also local cafes, shops and amusements that are always fun

Brief part of our visit to Abergele & locality . Sand / shingle , extends some distance , quite wide at high water . Shallow for kids but watch for currents & winds . Few facilities off season , but more beaches / facilities east & west in locality.

I frequently call here at weekends and during any holiday time spent in north wales. It has a most relaxing atmosphere , where you can sit back and soak up the north welsh coast line . I enjoy the cafe bars and all that's on offer including a read of the newspaper and basically to chill out . There is lots on offer to do here , walking with or without your dog, going on a bike ride, or simply enjoying the mountain scenery with Llandudno on the back drop. Me personally i just like to unwind and sometimes see the sunset.

Pensarn Beach is just brilliant, because, whatever the weather, you can drive onto the shingle and enjoy the sea views from the warmth of your car - and all this for free!
The local council has created an attractive area, with an outdoor mini-gym and landscaping, and this adds greatly to its appeal, when coupled with the places to eat - and for the children to enjoy the amusements and the Mini-Golf course. Pensarn Beach is truly a little gem on the North Wales Coast.

Free parking on the shingle beach and a free car park with toilet!
2 cafes, ammusments for the kids, ice cream and chips,Bingo for mum. A sea view and if you are lucky a seal or visiting rare bird to watch.
At low tide its golden sands are just the job with good swimming,a view of the little Orm to the left and Rhyl to the right. If you are still around at dusk you could be in for a sun set that will make you know what a wonderful world this is!

Pensarn beach is a pleasant long stretch of coast easily reached from the A55 and the nearby railway station. Low-key but with a full range of facilities for all ages, and parking is plentiful and free! Great for walks all year, its pebbles give way to sand at low tide. Loos are clean and paved walking is wheel-chair friendly.

Can you park overnight on the beach?
Christhers2n71

Parking on the beach is ok during the day. It would seem to be possible at night , tho' I'ld check with localauthority/Police (any history of vandalism?) You may want to consider possible wave/pebble damage in poor weather conditions.

Can I swim here?

We were there in winter , so we're unaware of Lifeguard arrangements in season . A good swimmer should be o.k.close inshore in calm water - but I'm no expert.

Is this beach got a blue flag and is it safe for children to swim
Reece D

It was but you can check current status on the blue flag site. It has large sandy areas and we found it safe for children to play and swim from those areas. The water next to the beach has a lot of stones so it can be uncomfortable to swim there though. Once the tide is out then swimming from the sand area is better. You need to keep an eye on the tide though as when it comes back in the water comes from behind you as well as in front in the latter stages so you can get cut off.
