I loved the fact that there was a structured agenda for winding the academic and theory parts of the courses with repeated chances to put them to practical use. There was plenty of opportunities to practice the skills. Even though there hiccups in the weather and logistics beyond LTD's control, the instructor quickly adapted and/or rectified the problem. Also there was plenty of time to go snorkeling, and step ashore for fantastic meals. Make sure you leave enough time to do the HASH event!

Gaining confidence sailing a 40 ft monohull boat and getting to know locals in Grenada. You’re treated like family. Our instructor Nico was great with advice and constructive critic. Ladies, he did it in an Italian accent. Learning was fun and rewarding. Thank you LTD Family

If you wan’t to really hone your skills and become a confident and proficient sailor, then look no further! I did the 7-day live-aboard mono-hull course and could not be more satisfied. Prior to discovering LTD, I completed the 101 and 103 courses over weekends in San Diego and was deeply dissatisfied in the training and experience I was receiving. The courses in San Diego were inside of the harbor under benign conditions, and were mostly discussions instead of hands-on experience. Prior to taking my sailing courses, I served in the Navy driving warships and was shocked by how little sailing experience I was receiving. I had almost given up on my sailing dreams until I found LTD. I highly recommend LTD for the following reasons: Location - Grenada is an absolutely stunning island in the Caribbean with pristine shores and breathtaking green mountains. During our live-aboard we sailed north to Carriacou and through some challenging winds and swells. We were able to practice reefing our sails by necessity, and got into a rain squall that allowed for some low visibility practice. We either anchored or picked up a mooring buoy each evening, and I was able to hop in the perfect water every morning to explore the underwater environment. We also got to snorkel at some pristine reefs and stop by the underwater sculpture park. Hands-On - The 7 day course was the perfect progression. We set sail the first day of the course on a 45ft monohull, and even with my prior sailing experience, I needed quite a bit of instruction on how to handle the winches, trim sails, and get used to the systems on a different boat. By the end of the week our instructor got to kick-back as we had completely learned the ropes and we’re handling voyage planning, sail trim, and all of the other essentials like a well-oiled machine. Family - The entire LTD staff has amazing energy and makes you feel at home. Our instructor, Andy, immediately clicked with all three students and gave us confidence and encouragement in our skills. I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty all of our meals were on board, and by the awesome spots Andy took us for dinner a few nights. I felt very comfortable asking questions and had the time of my life on our sailing adventure. While I can only speak for how great our experience was with Andy, when we returned at the end of the week LTD hosted a barbecue with a few other instructors and the groups they had taken out, and it was obvious that LTD rocks as a culture. LTD reignited my sailing dreams and passion for the sea, and I am 100% confident in my ability to charter a sailboat and sail it proficiently!

My son and I just completed ASA courses 101, 103, 104, and 114 through LTD Sailing. We stayed at Lance Aux Epines Cottages for the first 3 nights while completing ASA 101. The cottages are a short 10 minute walk to the LTD office and marina. There we met Sarah who was to be our sailing instructor for all four courses. 101 was taken aboard a monohull. Sarah was a delight, skillful and knowledgeable. With her patient instruction, we both passed the ASA 101 exam and moved aboard a relatively new 40 foot catamaran that was already generously provisioned. Again, Sarah was our instructor for the next three courses over 6 days. I can’t say enough about her sailing and teaching ability. She guided us and our two fellow students through an exciting and comprehensive program! In addition to excellent instruction, she guided us to different anchorages with ample time to explore the sites, people, and food of Grenada and Carriacou. We also passed the written exams for 103, 104, and 114. If that sounds like a lot of stuff packed into a week, it is. You’re getting a lot of bang for your buck! If you've been looking for sailing instruction with a live-aboard experience, stop reading this and do it! LTD Sailing and Sarah are just the best!

My husband has been dreaming of sailing for several years and finally convinced me to give it a try. After a lot of research through countless sailing schools, we found that LTD Sailing checked all of our boxes. During our week long cruise we earned our 103, 104, and 114 certifications. From the very beginning correspondence during booking to the end of our trip they were professional, helpful, and friendly. It’s very apparent that the owners and staff take great pride in delivering their customers a first class experience. Our journey began with a few bumps in the road, canceled flights, late arrival, and lost luggage. It was extremely stressful, however, once we stepped into the marina we were greeted with a big warm smile from our instructor Nico. The stress instantly melted away. We boarded a beautiful 44 foot catamaran, met our crew mates, and set sail. Our boat was beautiful with plenty of room to move about. Our berthing was very comfortable and spacious. Nico is a fantastic instructor, we would sail with him again in a heartbeat. He’s knowledgeable, patient, personable, and very safety focused. He is detailed in making sure his students learn the right way and are able to complete the skills necessary. We also met Sarah, another instructor who was teaching an all girls group on a mono haul. We moored in the same locations and got to spend some time with them in the evenings during dinner. She is also very personable and the the other class seemed to really like her a lot. I honestly think LTD has the “dream team” of sailing instructors. During our trip we were able to visit some beautiful off the beaten path locations. We enjoyed swimming, breathtaking views, fantastic weather, dined on delicious local foods (including a lobster BBQ feast on a secluded beach) and met interesting and friendly people along the way. We’ve traveled all over the Caribbean and I must say the people of Grenada may be the friendliest and most hospitable we’ve encountered. At the end of our trip we enjoyed a BBQ and rum drinks with the staff and owner of LTD. They are just about the nicest group of people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. The only negative, it had to end. We are looking forward to returning soon and expanding our sailing experience before eventually purchasing a sailboat of our own. If you are reading this and are considering taking the course, do it. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Thank you LTD for getting us one step closer to living our dream!
