Known locally as BBC Beach, this is a great spot to stretch out and relax. Lounge chairs in sun or shade were available for rent for about five bucks. The water was very calm and clear for swimming but not good for snorkeling. Restrooms and a local bar right there, near Sur La Mar hotel. Natives selling clothes and jewelry but they don’t intrude. Only problem: a booze cruise boat came and unloaded a crowd, but they only stayed for about an hour.

Windstar was docked in the harbor at Saint Georges so we had to take a $25 taxi ride to and from the beach, which is the same price to go to any of the other beaches. I understand that some of the cruise ships dock in a different area near the water taxi which is much less expensive.

We stopped to see Grand Anse and didn’t like it, no charm, just big. It’s all in what you’re looking for. If what you want is a quiet relaxing beautiful beach with more locals than tourists,,?you’re at the right spot.

We stayed at Mahogany Run during our Term5 on the island and it couldn’t have been a more amazing long term rental for students like us. Literally a staircase away from BBC beach (72 steps we counted), this house was situated right above La Plywood and Fantasia. This is no false advertisement. The first time I stepped on the property, I was shocked at the proximity to BBC.

It was so close we would find ourselves rolling out of bed in our bathing suits, taking our computers down to Fantasia and eating breakfast while watching lectures and taking a dip when it got too hot.

The house itself is charming. It has a huge balcony where we would watch the sun go down, plenty of couches and tables to study on and 3 bedrooms, each with a ton of character. The house was designed so that from anywhere, you had an amazing view and could hear the soft waves crashing.

There is a school bus stop a minute walk away. To understand the proximity to Grand Anse, door to door between Mahogany Run and Umbrellas was a 15 min walk on the beach.

Lastly, what made this the easiest place to live was Diana. She’s super nice, came 2-3 times a week to clean the place, change the sheets/towels, clean them and just maintain the property. Being busy with school, maintaining a full home would have been so difficult. With her, we could just focus on studying and enjoying the island.

Overall, living here is a once in a lifetime experience. I urge you to grab this opportunity and run with it.

BBC Beach is a great beach with fewer people than Grand Anse. Wonderful sand and almost a glassy sea on the day we were there. Hardly noticeable is a great beach bar about half way to the end. Don't miss Rocky's! Sometimes he is open and sometimes he isn't. When he is there you will find perfect rum punches and wonderful conversations. The people who hang out at Rocky's are almost as interesting as Rocky himself. if there is an important football (soccer) match going on, it will be playing on his TV.

Reduce your expectations and plan ahead and you can have a good time at this very kid friendly beach.

If you drove there...parking is a MAJOR pain in the butt. I lucked out with a spot next to the restaurants, but going up and down the steep hill with people parking on the side turns the steep road into a one way street.

There are a couple good places to get a beer and some good beach/bar food in Sur La Mer and La Plywood. If its crowded the service will be slow.

Once you get situated, you'll find yourself in a very picturesque setting as the beach is a small cove at the bottom of the hill that is surrounded by hills at every point.

The sand is some of the best in the area. The water has a high clarity, so its good for snorkeling... and several boat tours stop off at this location reinforcing the point.

The cove setting on the Caribbean sucks out all the wave energy so you are basically swimming in a sandy or grassy bottomed pool.

At the center of the cove is a large inflatable playground set in the middle of the beach, so it really is a great place to take your kids. There are some small hotels on the beach, so their are facilities that you can rent beach equipment or items for water sport activities.

Bottom-line: Its not my kind of beach (no waves) and its a pain in the butt to get comfortably settled into, but once you do...you can spend the whole day there.

Pleasant beach and sand with good safe swimming and water sports .when 2 cruise ships are in port it can be crowded.lounge chairs can be rented. The little hotel has a bar and food but the service is really slow. Over 1 hour wait=only average mark

We only visited this beach as the one we went to had rough seas. This one was lovely with plenty of sunbeds, shade from trees so no need to hire umbrellas. The beach is not too busy. There are inflatables for kids and a lovely bar. We would definitely visit again

This hidden beach is totally worth the hike! We walked from our hotel Seabreeze Hotel to this beach with our 6 year old son. We followed the Google Maps directions but then found the short cut on our way back. For future visitors, when hiking / walking to find this beach your land mark will be Mariposa Hotel. When you see this sign take the road that descends it will lead you straight to the beach. Don't go over the ridge it's a longer way. The beach is must smaller than Grand Anse and I preferred it. Not a lot of tourists and there are public bars where you can get eats and drinks. The water is very calm and clear. There are chair rentals on the beach.

This beach is quieter and less crowded than Grand Anse. Should keep it a secret. Several restaurants offer food and drink right on the beach. Some evenings there are BBQ's with torches and steel drum music.

Enjoy swimming and sunning here.

Arrived by taxi and spent a few hours at this beautiful local favorite beach. Chill under an Almond tree and relax in calm blue water. Check out La Plywood for a rum punch and great view of the bay.

Water is not clear in this seaweed covered small beach. Grassy ocean bottom beach used as a spot on guided tour stop. Go somewhere else.
