The Los Haitises excursion can be purchased at any hotel and is pleasant day trip. Buy the excursion which uses the large catamarans as the bay can be choppy and the boat trip is 45 minutes each way. Caves are very slippery and tight passages in the 2nd caves so be mindful of shoes and your body type and condition.... More

The day long excursion through MotoMarina took us for a relaxing double hulled catamaran trip through the islands in the national park. Rum, fresh coconut and pineapple was offered on board. Visited two caves. Note: not accessible for people with even limited mobility issues as it's wet, slippery and uneven. The cave formations were interesting and have been restored, although... More

You won't be exploring a tropical forest by foot. You will be riding boats around densely wooded little islands, a little boring to me. One of the islands is full of flamingos, we didn't see any other type of birds. The only time you get off the boat is when they take you to the cave where there are some... More

Make sure to visit the Los Haitises if you are interested in wildlife (particularly birds) or are just a lover of nature and beautiful landscapes. As for as the caves with ancient carvings... they are interesting, but not mind-boggling in any way. A great experience overall.

We took a catamaran tour from Samana to visit this large and spectacular national park. Our trip included great bird watching, visits to two caves and lunch on Cayo Elivado, a beautiful island just off the coast from Samana. Highly recommended.

Based upon our expectations, we understood the tour of " Parque Nacional Los Haitises " to be monitored by the D.R. government as a privileged part of their history. Sadly, that was not reality. The 45 minute trip to the preserve is conducted by a prominent tour company, utilizing a catamaran style vessel with a seating capacity of 50 -... More
