A bit of a long coach journey from Puerto Plata airport but well worth it. On the plus side you get to see some amazing scenery on route.

The bay is pretty with nice opportunities toeat and drink in the evening right next to the water. Also the road has some places but the ones near the water have the ambience.

the bay of Samana is consider for many travelers as the paradise for fishing, snorkeling, diving, excursions, whales watch, zip line and many other activities, but it is also full of natural beauty, there is clear water, nice river and green forest to visit, but also friendly local people ready to make your visit special.

I really enjoyed Samana. We arrived in town, at near the malecon, stayed at Ballenas Escondidas resort on the bay and saw whales the next day. Amazing time in Samana Bay.

The place got a mega potential, but is pretty dirty, people doesn't have a good deal of environmental consciousness, everything gets dump on the bay, making it unsafe for even walking on the sand at times (high tides brings all the debris and washes off all the stuff thrown in it from every corner of the island). A bigger effort... More

Spent sometime here prior to catching the boat over to Cayo Levantado Island . Didn't have much time, but tbh there didn't seem to be much to do/see anyway. Lovely colourful shop/houses at the bay, nice to take photographs. Looked ice at night when dark and lights twinkled.

I went there during my vist to Samana last June, views are great, a plaza with a lot of traditional houses, good for pictures. Definately needs some bars and things to do, as other wise there is not much. So we decided to go to Cayo Levantado, there is a lot of guys selling the excursion there, and that was... More

Samana is nice to see another place, but we couldn't find a nice bar to relax away from the street. We tried to reach the bridge to the small isle. After some moments walking alone near the see we went back. We didn't know if this was the correct street, but looks like it on a map. Starting wale watching... More
