I have done this excursion several times. It is a great way to spend several hours. They will come and pick you up at your hotel and drive you back when you are finished, Have your concierge at your hotel arrange this for you.

You will be given at least one cigar to smoke during your tour of the factory. The cigars they make and sell (Don Lucas) are of excellent quality). There will be opportunities to observe cigar making and the various stages - tobacco leaf to full cigar. Ask to view their humidor - it is a thing of beauty.

The tour also offers rum tasting, chocolate tasting (some of the best chocolate in the world), coffee tasting, a gift shop and cigar store (with many brands of cigars including Cubans) with opportunities to buy all of the above.

I have noticed the price of cigars at the store have increased significantly over the years. Keep in mind some of the brands can be bought at the duty free at the airport at about 30-40% savings. There was not as large a price discrepancy in the past.

Had a fantastic time at this place. I went for the cigar part of the tour and was not disappointed. Right off the bat we were offered a cigar to smoke. We chose the mild cigar and it was a solid smoke and we were allowed to smoke the entire tour. No wasting of a good cigar here. The cigar showroom had a great selection. Prices are marked on the boxes so there is no haggling. This was fine for me. I felt like they were priced fairly. I would definitely recommend the tour since it includes free transportation and you know you are getting good fresh cigar. The rum selection is good too.

Was planning on going to La Romana but the long drive from Punta Cana persuaded us to visit Don Lucas instead. Could not have been more pleased! Our guide was so friendly and made our small group feel as though we were part of the process and family. In addition to cigars they had chocolate rum coffee and souvenirs. Well worth the visit. We are cigar lovers and their higher level of cigars are a great smoke. Rum is tasty too

Easy to book, communication with Raphael was easy and swift. Transportation came on time and maybe we were lucky, but we did not have to wait, when we decided to go back to our resort.

Now the facility itself. I liked that everything was under "one roof". Cigars, rum, coffee, chocolate and souvenirs. Every "checkpoint" comes with tasting.

I liked the cigar tour, Ernesto was a good guide and we were provided with interesting information, saw the process and got free sample. Coffee came with a basic presentation, too. Regretably, we did not hear a word about rums and chocolate and staff at these locations was rather grumpy.

Overall, good for people that do not want to move around different places in Punta Cana or spend too much time on shopping. On the other hand, prices were quite high. I expected higher margins compared to local supermarkets, but price of the rum was shocking. E.g. Ophyum 23 was almost 30% more expensive here than in my homeland in Europe.

Good cigars but not willing to make any good deals. I was told they would. I did buy some boxes. I thought since I was going straight to the source that they would have better deal than in the states by cutting out the middle man. They are very proud of their cigars and they should be but are also proud of the price.
They sell other brands of cigars as well. I bought a box. I couldn’t get online to look them up so I bought them anyway. I paid $130 and I could of bought them online for $85. This is where I go frustrated. All I wanted to do was to find a local cigar shop and get local prices. They have a good cigar but it is a tourist trap. Trying to sell Souvenirs, Jewelry, liquor Ext.

Fantastic tour. Andres was a great guide and took good care of us. Not a super indepth tour but if you're into cigars and staying out in Punta Cana it's a great way to bust off resort and see how the cigars get made. They will try and find a cigar for you to sample while you tour if you tell them what you like.

P.S. Cigar lovers: 90% of the Dominican cigars are produced in duty free zones so the ones you buy there have already been shipped and bought back for resale. You wont find them any cheaper in the D.R. Best to get them in the US.

But since Don Lucas doesn't ship to the US and they are made right there I'm not sure why their prices were so high. I bought a 5 pack sampler for $55 US dollars. They are great cigars but still seemed pricey to me.

Fun afternoon of learning about how cigars are made, plus is if you are cigar smoker you can puff away while you learn. Be sure to tour the humidor and you will have the opportunity to purchase cigars. It is a bit of a trap you are there till you can get your shuttle back to your resort but we found it fun and we did learn some new things. Be prepared - you are on a bit of a tour but there is no pressure to purchase anything,

This was my second time going to Don Lucas. Picked us up from the resort in a taxi for free. Did the tour, watched cigars being made, sampled a bunch of rum, tried the chocolate.

No pressure to buy anything. I did get cigars again.

Told them we were done and drove us back to the hotel.

This was explained to us as a shopping destination. Little did we know it was much further than promised and a pathetic destination. Shops were less than you’d find in the airport. Poorly run transportation and confusion by all. No where to eat when trying to waste time until the return shuttle showed up.

Offered a free ride to and from hotel. However, ride from hotel was 20 min late. Nothing really open here except the overpriced gift shop. Long long long line to pay with only one cashier and a very slow register system. Waited in line 50 min to pay and left without our stuff because it took so long. Then waited 30 minutes for a ride back to the hotel. Line inside gift shop still long.

Do not recommend.
