Ok I seldom write reviews but this place truly deserves a review.
Booking. I sent a email asking for prices for a private charter for 4 hrs for a group of 1 to 3 I got a response very quickly with a detailed prices and it was personal. I didn't book right away because like always trying to get everyone to agree on something is always impossible. A week or so later I got a follow up email with a detailed report on what's biting at the moment and weather conditions. I decided to book cause I wanted to fish while I was there so I booked and left it up in the air about how many people would be there. I put a small deposit down and immediately got a response and a invoice.
As usual, once there, the whole group decides they want to fish more people than originally asked for. So I immediately sent a message and got a response back saying not a problem and rearrange transportation for the whole group.
Pick up at hotel
To my astonishment pick up was perfectly on time with friendly driver and an actual company van not hired out to a third party.
Once we were at the beach we were greeted by our first mate (totally embarrassed I can't remember his name ) and was briefed on the current weather and safety measures. After filling out our liability forms we were immediately taken to our boat where Captain Tito was waiting for us. ( I remember his name cause of vodka).
The boat
Was a 42 incher. clean. Very nice. Spacious and well equipped. Lots of beers and non-alcoholic drinks.
Fishing.
Well we saw a Mama humpback and her baby 10 mins in and then 2 dolphins so that was awesome
Well it's fishing. There's no guarantees. There's no nothing but we tried and eventually was rewarded with a 35 lb yellowfin tuna right at the end.
Now it's easy to write a good review cause I caught a fish but even if I didn't catch anything I still would've given a 5star rating cause from beginning to end that's the service I received.
I honestly like to thank Jack and his whole crew for a great time and I can now say I found excursion that I will repeatedly do with the same company for years to come.

I am sorry to respond just now, one of drivers was absent so I was helping with pickups and drop-offs, it was hectic a bit but here I am, stronger than than ever :)
I really hope next time we get you on some sea monster worth fighting for, fishing luck is not so luck sometimes but we are trying.

We had an incredible trip out for the 4 hour group tour. The email communication was very responsive, and helped us understand what to expect.
It started with Jack, the owner, picking us up right on time in a very nice van. He was very informative about the area and life in the DR.
When we arrived at the marina, we were warned that the seas would be 5-6 ft that day, and they weren’t kidding. It was a rough ride, but well worth it.
Dustin was our First Mate and I can’t say enough about how hard he worked. He was rigging and working lines from the time the boat left the marina, until we returned. He was incredible. He even got us onto a few fish and even a big one!
This was very affordable, and I would absolutely recommend this to anyone going on vacation in the DR!
Oh, and our return shuttle whisked us away immediately after we returned to the marina, so I didn’t have a chance to buy shirts. I emailed Jack, and he had one of his drivers drop them off at our resort later in the week. Truly a first-class operation that really treated us well!

We booked a private 5 hour fishing trip for Monday October 18th 2021. I booked the trip two months in advance of our trip. Jack the owner was very responsive from the start. He arrived at our hotel right. The morning of trip to pick us up right on time. He answered all of our questions on the ride to the boat. He gave us great recommendations of other things to do while on vacation. We go to the beach where our first mate Wander meet us to take us to the boat. Wander was extremely knowledgeable and went over safety with us. Once we got to the boat we met our Captain Franklin, who was also extremely friendly. Once boarded they were all set up and ready to go. Both Franklin and Wander extremely professional and organized and we set out. WIthin 15 mins of lines in we landed a nice sailfish, which we got mounted, and no pressure from the crew which was nice. The boat and equipment was in great condition. They were definitely the nicer of all the boats in port. I crew was very accommodating and just a joy to be around! We ended up catching a 10 nice Mahi Mahi, a sail fish and a barracuda. I have done multiple deep sea fishing trips around the Caribbean. this was by far the best. We had non stop action except for about an hour. I know this isn't always the case, because it is fishing after all. But my group had a blast. at one point we hooked up on all the lines with Mahi Mahi, what a blast! Two of the people in my group never been deep sea fishing, and are now hooked. Wander even went below and made the best Mahi Mahi ceviche we ever had. They also provided us with drinks and sandwiches which was a first on all the deep sea fishing trips I have been on. At the end we brought back some of the catch to get cooked on the beach which was amazing. We let the crew have the rest of the catch. I highly recommend this company and crew, you won't be disappointed. I am so impressed with Gone Fishing from the start of the process all the way to the end!!!!! This was extremely affordable and by far the best deep sea fishing experience we ever had!!!! Thank you Jack, Franklin, and Wander you will be the first we call for our next Trip to Punta Cana. You have a great operation and staff, cannot wait for our next trip with you!!!!!!!!!!

This guide service was top-notch! 3 of us did a shared charter in May and Jack and his crew were nothing short of professional. Jack was fast to answer e-mails that were filled with questions, the boat crew was great to work with and had one goal...to catch fish and make your experience the best that it could be! They did just that. After catching my Mahi, we had a great lunch on the beach and a few days later, Jack brought my fish to my resort, frozen and packaged for the flight home. I would recommend the Gone Fishing crew for your sport fishing excursion.

We had an amazing time fishing with Franklin and Wander! Truly an amazing team that are very professional and really know their fishing. They are very much on the same page with everything. We had an amazing day fishing, catching several Mahi-Mahi's including 1 trophy Mahi- Mahi! Cannot say enough good things about the company. Would definitely recommend anybody considering a fishing trip to consider using Gone Fishing!

Gone fishing was an excellent fishing trip.the crew were very professional and did a great job at keeping the lines baited and in the water. Both the captain and first mate spoke very good English so communication was no problem. Captain Jack the owner of the company went out of his way to make the trip very enjoyable he even provided a ride for our wife’s to join us afterwards to enjoy the fish that we caught would highly recommend captain Jack and his crew

Our captain Tito and first mate Wonder were very friendly and accommodating. We opted for a 6-hour trip due to the seas (8' average). The boat was an older one than what we were expecting and didn't use any down riggers, only outriggers so it was going to be top side fishing only, which would have been good to know but didn't change our overall experience. The tackle was all relatively well maintained and the bait looked pretty fresh. We trolled about 2 hours before the first hit and then it was game time, they were biting the day we went out and bagged 19 mahi and 1 'cuda. The largest being about a 65lbs mahi measuring in around 63". While that was definitely not the norm the rest were coming in around the 10-20lbs size. We stayed in the area about 2 hours before trolling our way back in. They use Gray's in case you wanted a replica made of the fish. Overall, would definitely recommend them as the communications before and during the entire process were accurate.

I have so many wonderful things to say, I don't even know where to start.
I am in the DR alone for my birthday, and the ONLY thing I wanted to do was deep sea fish. The company emailed me a couple nights prior, informing me that no one else has signed up, and they may have to cancel. The next morning they offered me a discount to go private, which I immediately jumped on!
Rosina has been so kind and very quick with her responses during all of this! My driver was on time, and informed me that there were 7-9 foot waves, asking if I would be ok with that 😱 Yes, it was frightening a couple times, even though I've been on boats all over the world. BUT, Captain Tito was amazing when it came to handling those waves, and I felt very safe. He was perfect!
Wander and JJ were so kind helping me with the fish, and caught 8 barracuda and 1 wahoo! It was truly a wonderful morning!
I am planning my 40th here in 1 year, and will definitely be using them again! I HIGHLY recommend this company.

2nd time with them, once in 2019 and again last week. Both times Jack was quick to respond, booking was a snap and he was so thorough in explaining the process. The driver arrived right on time to the hotel and fishing was great, even when 1 of our party got seasick the crew brought him water, cold towels, etc. Would book again with Jack and his crew in a heartbeat!

This was an amazing trip. I booked two shared charters for myself while my wife had a spa day.
I was picked up on time at my resort. After a short information briefing we were ferried to our boats.
In the DR you dont have to go very far to catch fish. In the am we had a few barracuda bites. The fun really started when we got two sailfish on at the same time. They really gave us a show and we landed one of them. A real sea monster. In the afternoon. It was a great afternoon with 3 beautiful Mahi Mahi and 2 barracuda.
Miguel and his first mate were great. It was really rough water 6 to 9 foot waves but the skill of boating showed. The first mate and I talked about the island and also shared our stories about our chihuahuas. It added a personal touch to the trip.
As a side note the seas van get faily choppy so if you tend to get motion sickness be proactive and take some medicine.
All in all an amazing day.

I will be in Punta Cana starting June 20th to 26th and would like to know how the fishing is for Marlin this time of year. I'm an experienced Anglers who has taken people tuna and shark fishing. But would like to hook up to a nice blue marlin and possibly have my girlfriend real in a few mahi.

I haven’t gone that time of year...however the first time I went with gone fishing was early July.
I think the chance to catch Marlin is slim but we caught a good number of mahi mahi which was awesome!

Looking to do some sea fishing in May when we stay at the Rui Macao, don't fancy just trawling lures as a lot of fish are seasonal, do people have any recommedations and approx costs per person for 4-5hrs

Hi there, when I did the private charter we had 8 people and it was $85us per person.
If you do the public charter you will be around $135us per person.
I been on two trips with Captain Jack/gone fishing and loved both!

If you’re scheduled for a 4 hour private charter and intend to indulge in the catch and eat, how do you get back to your hotel? Will your shuttle wait? Do you have to take a cab? Visiting in November, any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks so much for your interest in our outfit.
October is one of my favorites months for the vast variety of fish that will start coming into our area.
October normally brings in our first Northern currents and with them loads of fish. Especially Mahis and also Wahoos and even sail fish but usually towards the end of the month.
And don't forget the big boys " Blue marlins" are still around and strong. As for spinning gear we have some on all of our boats especially for the times we run into schools of mahis.
Makes it for a more entertaining time when you fight these fish with a 20lbs test line instead of an 80lbs test line :)

We are a group that will be looking to book a private fishing charter in January 2019. We would love to be able to bring our catch back home with us. Does Gone Fishing offer to hold and freeze any fish caught during a charter so that we could pick it up on our departure date?

Hello Jenny,
the easiest quickest and cheapest way is to bring it back yourselves.
Just bring a portable cooler, you know the ones that fold up and some re-usable ice packs.
After you're done fishing crew can filet your fish and we can seal and freeze them for you.
So on the day of your departure you either drop by to pick your fish up on your way to the airport or we can bring them to your resort for a small fee to cover transport fees and off you go.
I’ve had guys from Vancouver do this and even switch flight and the catch stayed frozen the whole time. Hope this helps.
