    Vacation at Dreams
My mother and I visited Dreams Macao Beach for her 60th birthday trip. The room was spacious, clean, and I we had a beautiful beach/pool view. Our favorite restaurant was Oceana. Very fresh tuna and amazing service from the wait staff. The staff made sure to make her feel special on her birthday and even brought out a cake to sing happy birthday. The entertainment staff, in particular Michael Jordan was very energetic and fun and made sure we had a fun time.

popular surfing spot and was listed by UNESCO
Macao Beach is something of a hidden gem of Punta Cana beaches, being relatively untouched with clean sands, watersports opportunities, and an escape from the city crowds. It’s a popular surfing spot and was listed by UNESCO as one of the Caribbean’s best beaches, mostly down to the clear waters and lovely white sand fringed by tall palm trees. waves are not as smooth as the main beaches of Bavaro, but it’s for those who desire a day at the beach free of crowds. also, sands particles- It’s huge, and not as fine as Bavaro's beaches. It's also highly popular with surfers due to the great pipes that form here. It's a favorite among locals, and a nearby all-inclusive resort lets you be pampered between beach excursions. It is much quieter than Playa Bavaro, and it is worth visiting, especially if you want to try awesome freshly caught fish at affordable prices Entrance: Google search for Restaurant El Fogón de Doña Mery, that’s your entrance. Parking: some guy will stop you at the entrance, and he will guide you. Parking Fee: As per guard wish ;) try 50 or 100 Pesos.

One of the most beautiful beaches in Punta Cana
One of the most beautiful beaches that I have ever visited in the Carribean. Water is so nice and calm. Colors were fantastic. The view of the beach and the hill at the end is one of the best views. We went there for a full day after a previous visit with the boogie excursion trip.

We went on a buggy excursion which was AMAZING! Only downside to it was when we visited this beach and had the locals swarm us. The man w/ the monkey was VERY aggressive. After we said no - he put his monkey on us and took our phones and started taking photos, which we insisted we didn’t want and then he told us we owed him twenty dollars US. We told him no and tried to tip him several US dollars instead, in which he denied and told us that gets us nowhere. Then he went to a young girl on our excursion and took money from her fanny pack and when her parents asked for the money back, he gave them the finger instead. Afterwards he came back to us and demanded more money. Again we tried to just give him a couple bucks to get him away from us and he took it this time, but not without giving us a mouthful of how it wasn’t enough. Absolutely ridiculous. Travelled many places and this place was the worst for aggressive locals. Refused to leave the resort afterwards. Stay away from the locals if you travel here. They apparently do not understand NO. The beach looked amazing but didn’t get a chance to enjoy it unfortunately.

Nice beach but watch out for locals trying to scam you.
On the way to the beach, we were stopped by locals trying to charge us 200 DOP to enter the beach, there is NO entrance fee to this beach, so don't fall for this.

Also, at the beach there are many locals trying to get you to their food place, they have huge prices, so make sure to bargain.
We even paid too much after bargaining since we just arrived, we paid 1000 DOP for 2 meals of fried chicken with rice. Normal price for this is lower than 500 DOP, this is the price we paid day after at a local restaurant beside our accommodation.

1 USD = 54.916075 DOP Mar 25, 2023 16:34 UTC.

We made it to this beautiful beach from a Buggy excursion. The beach itself is clean, calm and beautiful. I would not go there alone because I would be afraid for my life. Many Haitian vendors in your face tryin to sell you everything falsified in dollars. They kept telling us to leave our stuff while we bathed....mnmm first sign not to leave your stuff. Many kids asking for your stuff and your shoes. They are not even Dominicans. There is a full blown scam happening here. They will try to give you flowers, birds and iguanas for pics and of course charge your dollars. $10 Pina Coladas....its ridiculous how money hungry these people have become to the point you cant even enjoy this beach....you are more afraid for yourself and your stuff.

Beautiful beach, great waves to play around it. Be wary of the main beach chair service restaurant there. They WILL try to take advantage of tourists. We HAD 1 very mediocre of order fries and and and the restaurant tried to charge us $90 USD. Even though the prices were clearly marked on the menu and it should have been $25. If you don’t speak the language they will use that against you to take advantage.

We went there at the end of a tour. Frankly, it was a poor end to a wonderful day! if you are a surfer, it is worth going to . WIth the local construction of a new resort the access is poor and presentation nothing to compare to other beaches. Waves are bigger for surfer.

This beach was beautiful despite it being heavy seaweed season. They have done a good job clearing it off of the beach. The water is still very murky due to the seaweed but we had a wonderful time.
If you choose to use Uber be aware that they are not always around this area. The taxi wanted to charge us $35 compared to Uber which was $12 but we did have to wait for about 25-30 min for an Uber to be in the area.
There are chairs/loungers and umbrellas to hire but if you don’t mind sitting on a towel I would save yourself to money and find a palm tree to sit under. We left our belongings on the beach while swimming and we kept an eye on them without any issue.

My review of my stay at the Rui Macao would have been fantastic but instead I must write of my dissatisfaction with the experience my husband and I recently had at this Resort in Punta Cana.

Upon our arrival, we discovered that our booking did not include my husband as a secondary person, not sure how this happened. We booked on booking.com, despite having my filters set to two people. I believe this was a technical problem on booking.com's end, but of course they will not take any accountability for any technical concerns, and good luck trying to prove otherwise.

As a result of this oversight, the hotel charged $5,978.23 USD to add my husband. The original booking purchase was $2600 USD for the room. The new booking price ended up being $5,978.23 USD, costing us $8,357.20 CDN out of pocket. The RUI should have charged an additional $100 per person, which is what they did for others who were booked at the hotel. As I overheard a conversation at the front desk, of someone who was added at $100 dollars. The fee should have been what we originally purchased $2600 USD x 100 x 8 day equaling $3400 USD. A difference in payment of $2,578.23. The room was booked, why the exorbitant fee for another person. My husband should have only paid for food and amenities. Very crooked and underhanded to charge the additional rate they did. When I tried to speak to the hotel over this problem, the Manager would not even come to the front desk to take any of my concerns. He had the front desk worker speak to me, while he sat at a desk behind the front counter, to dismiss me. The customer service provided was terrible. Trying to receive a refund has been painful. We traveled to your resort with the expectation of a seamless and enjoyable experience, but instead, we encountered what can only be described as a terrible ordeal.

Do not trust this establishment, this experience has left us feeling cheated and extremely dissatisfied. There are many other resorts you can go to in the Dominican, choose a reputable one if you go. Learn from my experience from the Rui and choose another establishment.

We saw this beach on our dune buggy tour. The beach, although beautiful sand is full of the local’s garbage. What a shame for a government to allow a tourist spot like this to be littered with garbage. Water is beautiful but very rough and dangerous currents.

Absolute must see!! Best beach we’ve seen yet. Amazing for surfing. We seen some guys catching 2 waves at a time. Fun to play in the large waves. Not recommend for children, not a place for snorkeling. Will need water shoes as there are some rocks. The main access is located by a few restaurants and some small shopping boutiques set up on the sand, so bring some cash. There were horseback riding options on the day we went as well. Perfect place for adults to take pictures and relaxing on the beach.
