It's deliriously difficult to find a scuba shop in Punta Cana - there's so many, of dubious quality, some with crappy equipment. Having had to find a shop in a similar situation in Thailand previously, I did my research on the PADI website as I trust dive shops with schools

We took the day-long excursion with Pelicano Sports to Isla Catalina on 1/30/2020. Left our hotel (Westin Puntacana) about 7:00 am to get to the company's location near Bavaro beach. Once we arrived, we took a shuttle with 2 other passengers to La Romana - a little over 1 hour

The snorkeling portion of this trip was wonderful as were our guides. However, swimming with the sharks and rays was not as expected. Instead of seeing them in their natural environment, they were caged in netted pens with the nurse sharks all huddled in 1 corner of the netting
