Overall, this excursion was a great experience. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and it was a great adventure! We got plenty muddy and had a blast. The sugar cane field was interesting, we had never been to one before and got to try raw sugar cane for the first time ever!
We did the horseback riding as well. I would not recommend this. The horses looked malnourished and you just go down a big hill and back up the same hill after some time down at the river.
The transportation was a bit questionable at times. Dominicans drive fast and crazy in the first place but there was only a chain at the back by the stairs into the vehicle. There were no seatbelts that we could see that worked. We stayed at the Iberostar in Bayahibe and had to stop at Dreams in La Romana and were there for 30 minutes for something that didn't end up being anything. We thought maybe they were picking up other people for the next trip or something...not the case.
The biggest disappointment were the pictures. They were absolutely HORRIBLE. It looked like the photographer had no idea how to focus in on what he was taking a picture of. 80% of our pictures were blurry and not printable. I was looking forward to the ones that they took when we were going straight through the mud and those were a huge let down. They were going to charge us $30 for them and then they gave in to $20, which was a big mistake on our part to even pay that much. I would NOT recommend buying the pictures. They are a rip off. Stand your ground and be extremely firm if you choose to not buy them. They were pretty aggressive with their tactics to get you to buy their picture/video packages.
Suggestions:
-Bring something to hold your belongings that is waterproof!
-Wear your swimsuits. We were not informed to wear our swimsuit but there was a river that we stopped at that you could swim in.
-Bring your own bandanas. They are pretty useful because the trails are pretty dry and have dirt flying everywhere. But they charge you $5 for each bandana.
-Wear something that you're not afraid to get dirty.

keep in mind this is a DIFFERENT country different standards of life,....me and granddaughter had the most fun of all our excursions. we got dirty, don't wear anything cute. LOL i tried the zipline not for me, but the country was scenic my granddaughter had fun and she's the shy type she even drove a dune buggy lots of selection of stuff to do,....instead of horses we went down the rio chaven (i think that's its name) also bring extra cash for the dvd of excursion i didn't buy one but now i kinda regret but i don't know what quality they are either all of the excursions down there offer the dvds good meal at the end i would recommend it they even re arranged our trip because we had over extended ourselves and got tuckered out from 3 straight days of excursions we tried to beg off on this one just wanted to lay around the resort but they offered to change the date and take us out the next day it was fun junior was a great host he spoke perfect english

I booked my tour with Alphi Tours in Dreams LaRomana. We paid for a buggy/atv/ zipline tour. The ride over there at first was very realistic in terms of how the native of how that country live. I a bit scared at first but then started relaxing. The children will run up to the vehicle and ask for candy etc. When we arrived to their site to get the buggy and atv I was a lil on edge because I have a fear of dogs and they seemed to be all over there. They didnt bother you I believed they were just hungry. All the animals out there seemed malnourished. We began the tour and boy did we get DIRTY... we drove through a mud pit and all.I have never done that before but it was well worth it. Then we stopped for a break and got into the next truck that took us up the rocky hill/mountain to where we would do our zip lining. The guys there we very professional and friendly. If your not someone who has ever done this you would be a lil on edge plus im not on the skinny side so I was worried about weight requirements but they assured us of the safety. Myself along with fiance was nervous but more or so him because he afraid of heights. All I can say was WOW & EXHILARATING! To at the beauty and greenery of thjs country from above is nothing compared to driving through various locations. We were zip lining through the Chavon River how amazing is that the same place where they filmed anaconda I learned. After we did our 3 lines we walked back down took pictures and headed back for the rest of our excursion. Met with our first tour guys that took us back to our ATVs that were waiting for us we rode to the sugarcane field, and had some there then went to this shop that sold souvenirs and relaxed there for a bit before heading back to there site to return the rides and board the bus to take us back to our resort. The main down fall I will say is the video and pictures we paid so much for. They were filled pictures of others, the country and just a few of us driving not even so much zip lining which I feel would have been the best. So I wouldn't waste my money on that. Ohhh and also bring your own bandanas that is a rip off in NYC they are only $1.00. Overall is was good, but dont let them swindle you out of money. I met another couple who said they did the same excursion for about 100 dollars cheaper. So stand your ground but enjoy your tour you will for the most part enjoy your excursion.

Zip lining! Kayaking! Oh my! I thoroughly enjoyed my Alphi Tours package in La Romana. It was tons of fun and everyone, from the sales rep to the staff at the reservation were awesome. I would highly recommend anyone staying in La Romana to use them as a tour guide for their activities.

My husband selected this excursion for us to do during our cruise. I was a little scared at first because I wasn't sure what to expect but I have to say it was awesome. The guides were very good and nice. You do get pretty dirty and dust everyone but you will have a great time.

My husband and I went to Alphi Tours and we requested the Zipline. It was a fascinating experience, they had excellent tour guides, the training was very accurate, they had patience with us and overall we had a lot of fun!!!! Is not over-exhausting but we had to walk and climb several steps. Very good exercise for the body and for the soul!!! Views....simply amazing!

This was a mistake we did going with Alphi Tour, Quad & buggy in very bad condition, our friends were unable to drive the buggy while my son was going to fall from Quad. at the end the guide exchanged his quad with ours
They are good and efficient to collect money but when it comes to the service they don't provide what they promise.
I am surprised how an Hotel like Dreams La Romana is hosting a similar dodgy company to sell their services in the hotel especially that we heard we are not the only ones who had bad experience with them.

Booked it a day after our arrival at Dreams La Romana resort and spa. They have their own staff at the beach here selling you the adventure. And surely, an adventure it was! They charge you 65$ per person which needs to be paid with hard cash, no credit cards accepted! They give you a pick-up time but they do leave with a massive delay. In our case more than 45 minutes, which they consider as 5 Dominican minutes :-)
Anyway, from our hotel, it was only a 20 minutes drive to the starting point. Once there, they give you a paper stating that the organisation can not be held responsable for any accidents, incidents, etc. Everything is at your own risk! One should not accept this! You pay 65$ which should include the insurance.
The trip with these buggies and quads is quite fun, but they should not allow teenagers without the neccesary credentials to drive them! We had a bunch of testoron loaded teenagers (surely under 16) with us, thinking they were driving on a race track. Bumping into other participants most of the time, thinking it was fun, I don't think so!
On top of that, the state of the equipment is quite bad! Me and my 12-year old son could keep up with everyone, but lacked some power (quite necessary to overcome certain parts during the drive). Another couple's buggy did not have any breaks! I recommended the organizer to check their equipment every single time before they allow people to drive with it. No wonder they give you a paper to sign that you accept not to hold them responsible for any accidents, etc.
However, if you love some adventure, just go for it! The staff was quite nice and helpfull.
At the end, if you do not want the video or/ and pictures they take during the trip itself, than don't! I had not the impression that one was obliged to. We've negotiated a lot and paid in the end 40$ for all the pictures they took from us during the trip. Overall rating for me: acceptable Dominican standard. ;-)

We did buggies down to a sugar cane field and then drove down to a ranch to do 3 inspiring zip lines and rideon horses, and drove back on the buggies. Great for the whole family...

I visited this place in December of 1980, with some classmates who had heard about it, I found enlightening, some what educational, and over all enjoyable.

I honestly have forgotten the price. I guess around 50USD. Nevertheless it was worth the price. I don’t know if it would be the same fun if all is dry and therefore not muddy.
