We had such a wonderful experience with RV private tours! Working with Rene and his team was awesome. I initially reached out to Rene to inquire about the Puerto Plata city tour for my family and I for our cruise stop in July. Rene was so quick to respond with the information that I requested and his price was very reasonable compared to the other private tours on the island. From the get go, I knew Rene and his team were going to be great to work with. Once we got to the port, it was kind of chaotic so we weren’t sure where to go so I called Rene up right away and he guided us out of the port to meet our tour guide, Francisco and our driver, Melvin. We were greeted with welcoming smiles to get into a clean and cool van. Francisco offered us cold waters right away and pretty much ran through what the day was going to look like which I really liked. He also said to let him know if there are any changes we wanted to make because essentially this was our day and we were the boss he said. They were willing to take us wherever we wanted. We started our tour with the cable car ride up the mountain. Francisco was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of history. The view of the city from the top of the mountain was beautiful. We then went to do a rum tour at the Macorix factory. We enjoyed tasting all the different rums that they made there. The rum tour took a little longer than expected. We had asked Rene prior to the trip if we could taste some good local food for lunch and I was very pleased that he remembered that detail from our email conversations. Francisco had mentioned that the place that he wanted to take us, Como en familia, was closing soon. So we were pretty bummed out to hear that since we are foodies and really wanted to try it. Rene called the place up and they were able to wait for us to eat lunch there. Francisco pretty much ordered for us and just let us relax at the table while the ladies from the back served us with a buffet of rice, beans, plantains, veggies, salad, stewed beef and the best fried chicken we’ve ever tasted. It was a delicious meal that fed 8 people that only cost $30! We were so happy that Rene and Francisco were able to make this happen. After lunch, we continued our city tour to get some souvenirs then to the umbrella street, pink street and downtown Puerto Plata. After downtown, we stopped by the chocolate factory where they served some really yummy hot chocolate and brownies. We took some home with us. We then went to the San Felipe fort and listened to the guided tour. We headed back to the Amber Cove port with enough time to be back on the ship before 6pm. It was such and enjoyable day with Francisco (and Melvin). Francisco made us laugh the whole day. He was very personable yet professional. He never left our side. We felt very secure walking around the town. It was a very well worth it private tour of the city. Francisco took his time showing us around and we never felt like it was rushed at all. It was a very enjoyable trip. I would definitely book with Rene and his team again if we go back to Amber Cove. Thank you for such an awesome and enjoyable day!

Great experience with RV Tours. About a 10 min. walk out the Amber Cove security gate , then out on the main road - local taxis are on your right & private tour buses & vans on the left. Our van driver (Edgar , who did a great job) for our private tour was waiting for us there with a sign (along with Rene, the manager). Good private trip, in and air-conditioned van w/ drinks provided, to the 27-Waterfalls (only had time for 7…), lunch, and a tour of the city of Puerto Plata. Then back to the boat @ Amber Cove ( ~ 7-hour tour ).

My husband and I were on a private tour while visiting from a cruise ship. Rene communicated very well prior to our tour. Independent tour operators cannot enter the port area so there is a little walk. It looks longer on the map. They had a sign with our names on it so it was easy to find them. We started the tour at rum factory. There was tasting and then you could purchase Rum. We then headed to a jewelry shop that explained about Amber and Larimar. We were able to purchase jewelry at a good price. We walked to a cigar shop, where we learned about rolling cigars. My husband enjoyed this stop. We then went to the umbrella street and then to the square to enjoy fresh coconut water. We walked to the church and there were tour guides working for tips to give a 5 minute tour of the church. Our next stop was San Felipe Fort for an audio tour. Next up was the yummy chocolate factory to buy some chocolate. Our tour ended at a restaurant at the beach with some beach time. Rene's minibus was clean and cold. There were cold beverages for us to enjoy during the tour. We were not rushed and Rene took good care of us. We would not hesitate booking with Rene again!!!

Rene is like family now every time we travel to Puerto Plata he is the only one we trust for a safe reliable transportation. He is the owner and he comes for us every time. He communicated with whattapp prior and is waiting for us with our name when we get there. He always has a welcome drink for us and the kids. Safety is key he is a safe driver, gives us a tour while going to hotel. Clean air conditioned vehicle. Punctual transportation. A very kind genuine person. I trust Rene with my family transportation and tour needs.

We would 100% recommend RV Tours. We travelled as a family of 7 and chose 2 tours. The city tour was wonderful, and we were able to customize it to our liking. There were a couple stops on the tour that we weren't interested in doing and they happily added 2 other stops we asked for. Our tour guide was wonderful, kind and funny! Our second tour was the Blue Lagoon tour. Because of a broken bridge, this tour had to be cancelled. René offered to replace it with the paradise island tour, at no extra cost. The bus had issues so we stopped in a small town and they had us on another bus in a matter of minutes. As sad as we were about the cancelled tour, the new one was an incredible experience. Thank-you René for making our trip that much more enjoyable.
