Booked a family tour during our cruise (Carnival Magic) on May 22. Our guide Jose` was amazing! He gave us so much information about the Dominican culture and landmarks. Toured the Brugal Rum factory, Del Oro Chocolate factory and the cable car. The tour of the downtown area and the cathedral was so special- the shops and souvenirs were great. He even took our 10 year old granddaughter to a ball field so she could pitch on Dominican soil- as many MLB players have!!! I'd use this tour company again and ask for Jose`!!!…

Our cruise stop in Amber Cove was pretty exciting. We pre-booked this excursion and met our tour guide, Martin, outside the cruise terminal as planned. He was great!! He explained about the history of Purero Plata and the Dominican Republic. Our first stop was the cable cars that went up a mountain Isabel de Torres into the clouds. We walked around in the forest and saw the "Christ the Redeemer" statue on top of the fortress. We saw a set-up of a primitive Dominican cosita (tiny house). We toured around the city and stopped at the Amber Museum, but it was closed. We toured a Catholic Church in the square and stopped at a chocolate factory (Del Oro) where we were able to see the way they process chocolate and sample different varieties. Of course we had to bring home some bars and cocoa powder. Wonderful trip with a wonderful guide! Thank you, Martin!…

We had an excellent tour with Isaira Tours. We requested a tour based on the history of the area. We toured 2 museums, the fort and a church. We also visited the chocolate factory. The cocoa and chocolate are wonderful. The company was great to works with - followed up in a timely manner. The guide did an excellent job. Anyone booking with Isaira Tours be aware if you are coming into Amber Cove you will have about a 15 -20 minute walk to get to the meeting point outside the port. Make sure you have clear directions to the meeting point.…

So much fun, I couldn't stop laughing. Lot's of mud puddles! Had a swim at the beach and the water was warm. Mud on the way back, but we could be sprayed off by a young man. There's a video available at the end too.
