This was a wonderful day to spend experiencing something "real" during our vacation. The school is doing a wonderful thing for their students and the community. Meeting and having fun and a chance to talk with the teachers and students was a great experience. Experiencing the neighbourhood that some of the students live in was a good way to see... More

We travel with a social consciousness and give what we can everywhere we go. Cannot thank the schools in Nova Scotia for all their support in the supplies given to the students and staff at Dove Missions. Students and staff-- Theresa, Liz, Martina and Juan--were extremely friendly and kind. We were so pleased to meet the future Doctor Ana. What... More

I volunteered at Dove Missions for one day out of a 7-night all-inclusive vacation, and it was much too short. This truly was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. The children are so eager to learn English, and were equally as eager to teach me Spanish. We laughed, we danced, we smiled, and we hugged. We went... More

In a world driven by social inquality you can find people that have aligned their lives to help those not so fortunate. Outside of hotels walls, they have build missions to lend a hand to communities who struggle to make a living in harsh environments. In the dark area of Puerto Plata, as it's name well describes it, Agua Negra,... More

I've been returning to Dove Missions in the Dominican Republic for several visits during 4 years now, and it's always a feeling of relaxation, love and care. You will enjoy meeting the children and learning/seeing about how they live their daily lives, and importantly how you can help them by being there. You will have the chance to play indoor/outdoor... I knew when I came to the Dominican Republic, I wanted to do something with the locals. I did not want to stay in the "tourist" area. I wanted to see the country through the eyes of its people. I came across DOVE Missions. Working with the children and staff was the best experience of my trip. From my initial... More

This is the third visit that my wife and I have volunteered for a day at the Dove mission. We again brought items for the kids based on the needs and recommendations of Martina. We packed several suitcases with coloring books, hygiene supplies, toys, etc. The Dominican people are very special and these kids are all so appreciative of anything... More

What a loving, caring group of children and instructors. The children are so receptive to learning. It was such a privilege to spend the day watching and teaching the children English. Their word for the month was generously. We were able to teach new words pertaining to their word of the month. We spent time visiting the homes that they... More
