Being moderately experienced with cigars (some years here and there, visited cuba, hispañola), I was very surprised to find hight quality cigars for little money in the DR. In my opinion cigars from the the DR are as good as cubans but cheaper (speaking about the basic at store made cigars).

So, the puros from La Leyenda I would count in quality wise. However, in my opinion those are overpriced. They range from 100-250peso Corona to Churchill size. In Las Terrenas you can find the same quality for 70-180peso. Even Churchill for down to 70peso of very good quality. So, yes worth a smoke. To take home a stock of puros caseros, I'd rather save the money for Las Terrenas, Puerto Plata or possibly Santiago. My 50centavos.

This place is the heaven for cigars! More than 100 types all made by hand, from all around the world. You can buy them by unit or in nice packages which is very great when you have a gift to offer. The price vs quality is the best one, we found in the country (we travelled from south to north). We appreciate that the shop doesn't look like a tourist place. And above all the staff is super nice, honest (we forgot our camera in the shop and they kept it in a safe place for us) and helpful. The seller speaks Spanish, English, French...and many other languages fluently. She was not trying to sell us the most expensive one but the best option for our budget and tastes.
So if you are an amateur of cigars, you have to go there! Thanks again for your advices, time and of course...the camera!

Stepped in to see the store on a walk in the Colonial Zone. Met Julio Vilchex Rosso the president of the store who showed us around. They demonstrated how the Cigarro was final made.

Had many other Cigarro's in the store to include tools to use. Sorry did not try be cause we do not smoke.

I have requested an update on the current listing to include website and address. Very nice store and owner.

Fake Cohiba cigars, they sell them for 1200 pesos (18 euros) when they are really worth 75 euros, the black inspired macanudo they sell them for 1200 pesos when they cost half the price, it is a place where they take advantage of deceiving tourists.
