A truly fantastic church, as are all churches in the world. The catholics know how to build historic buildings. This one is more special ,seeing that Christopher Columbus was once buried here. The site is marked inside the Primada, but apparently his remains were removed...More

This is a definite stop if you are visiting Santo Domingo and you're there to see the sights. Some reviews have said that if you have been to cathedrals in Europe, you won't be impressed by this one as it may not be as big,...More

The cathedral is very well kept. But it's important for women to dress appropriately - wearing a skirt or long pants - to be able to enter. If wearing shorts, you should bring a sarong to wear over your shorts or a skirt will be...More

I would strong recommend you visit this beautiful cathedral. It is beautiful inside and out! You can easily spend a good hour checking out the whole thing and definitely use the audio guide.

This was the first cathedral built in the Americas and they still have one of the original windows. You have to take an audio guide and that makes the tour much more interesting. A crowded place.

Worth the time. Audio tour is very informational. Lots of history and interesting to see all the artifacts and stories behind them.

I purchased the audio and enjoyed wlking to each of the side chapels and other stations. At each small side chapel the narrative was accompanied by appropriate music in the background.

Worth stopping by, lots of history, has a pretty good audio tour. For those who come in shorts/with open shoulders they even give scarfs instead of turning down.

Yes this the first Catholic Church in all America, founded in 1512. It's very impressive and interesting, should be in better condition but our government dont take care of our most valuable and historical resources.
