If you are in the colonial city this is a good place to visit, they have a lot of larimar and amber jewerly pieces to admire and to buy.

The exhibit was interesting, but very small and basically just a ploy to get tourists in to the shop. The jewelry is WAAY overpriced - we bought similar jewelry a few blocks over for less than 1/4th of the price.

The upstairs rooms have information on Larimar and a few really cool pieces, but that is just an excuse to have a good store. But is a really good store. The top floor is also interesting because you are able to see what a very grand house looked like and how it was built in the sixteenth century. Beautiful, cool... More

My wife & I were looking for some larimar jewellery & visited the museum for information & to compare prices. We ended up buying from a larimar (& amber) manufacturing jeweller in Celle El Conde where we had ween some items we liked. The museum is informative & worth a visit (but not air conditioned & very hot)

We were given a tour of the beginning to end process from stone selection to how they are cut. This stone exclusive to the D.R. has beautiful variations in colour and the options to customize jewelry on site seemed endless. A great one of a kind experience that will allow my children to have a unique keepsake.

Museum was informative, but the shop downstairs could use a larger collection of jewelry. Do not expect a first rate attraction, expect a fifteen minute diversion. It is free, however.

Interesting visit. The museum was closed for holiday but the shop was open. Beautiful pieces of Larimar stones in silver. This stone in the blue colour only found in the Dominican Republic. Reasonable prices. They take credit cards.
