I booked an excursion to Saona Island through Colonial Tour and Travel at the Arzobispo Meriño branch. There was a minor earthquake in the early hours of the morning of the excursion. The driver arrived on time and was very courteous. On our way, the driver was informed that the authorities closed the shores for safety concerns. I went back to the Colonial Tour and Travel office and they said that they were going to issue me a refund. I provided my bank account. I also informed them that was leaving the country within the next few days They did deposit the full amount. For that reason, I will consider this company in the future. Lady behind the counter not friendly or particularly helpful. When the time to board the bus came, the person who came to pick us up didn't even ask our names, nor did he check whether everyone was present. He just proceeded to walk towards the bus and we had to guess we were supposed to follow him. The tour itself was expensive, considering what it included, and involved travelling in a freezing cold bus/catamaran for 90% of the time, to be at Saona Island for only 2h. The guide himself was okay, but not making much effort beyond the basic stuff.

Inquired details on excursions from Punta Cana. No replies from persons in charge of tour operators and online bookings. The email address for the Punta Cana representative is invalid. The website is still up but the company may have closed its doors. Proceed with CAUTION, do not pay for anything unless they contact you first.

Went on Colonial Tours and Travel from Santo Domingo to Soana Island. Was like cattle being led to slaughter. Hustled on to boat, then to island. Lunch is marginal and there are hundreds of other tourists waiting in line for food. Then hustled on to catamaran, then speed boat.
My wallet and iphone was stolen somewhere between catamaran and speed boat. The guide said he would look for it and to call him the next day. Which my hotel did for me. He told them he would call right back. He never did. My hotel called him many times and never heard back from him.
I sent an email to Colonial Tours regarding the lack of customer service. I never heard back from them either. Save your money and DO NOT BOOK with this rip-off company.

If you booked an air ticket on our online platform and you haven't received an automatic confirmation of your reservation, it means that there was an error in the system at that time or you didn't complete all the information required. Please try again. On the other hand, our company was founded in 1994 and is one of the most prestigious travel companies in the Dominican Republic, with 8 branch offices all over the country and in Havana, Cuba. Hands off! The worst excursion agency ever! They lie to you, make false promises and try to get all your money.
In our case, we booked a tour to the damajagua waterfalls near puerto plata for 55USD/pers. We made the booking through our hotel (we speak fluent Spanish) our deal was an excursion from 8am to 5pm including all 27 pools of the damajagua waterfalls, including transport, drinks, lunch, safety equipment, guide.
What happened was: they arrived 20 minutes late to our hotel, to pick us up at 8.20. Which is, when u are on holiday, 20 minutes more sleep. Then, the guide told us we are about to do a "safari tour", which means: coffee plantation, handcrafted work and at the end waterfalls, with just 7 pools! We were saying "no" to that, since we booked for something else. The guy was looking at us as if we were joking and not respecting us, even though we spoke Spanish and told him we didn't book any tourist excursion where we visit places where they sell stuff to us, but only booked the 27 waterfalls. It took like 20 minutes to argue with him till he was agreeing to just bring us to the waterfalls without going to the other places. In the car, we asked him him again that we would like to visit all the waterfalls and not just the 7. He was saying no, we would just visit 7 pools. Then he called his boss and gave me the phone to talk to her. She was arguing that we just booked for the 7 waterfalls and not more. Then suddenly she said, it would not be possible to visit more pools, since the rest of the pools are closed to public because of heavy rain the week before. I hardly understood her on the phone, the quality of connection was very poor and her english bad. So we ended the call. Later the guide collected the money in our minibus and when I asked him about the lunch he said there would be no lunch, which was the next disappointment. Arriving at the falls, there were many people and we had to wait like 20 minutes to start the hike up to the pools. We asked another guide if there is only 7 Pools open, and he said no, all the pools are open to public... So the boss lied to us on the phone! The pools and everything was really nice and a lot of fun! Bring your own watershoes! Not for small kids or elderly! Finally after the pools , the guide agreed that we can have free lunch, which we enjoyed. Then at around 2pm they brought us back to the hotel by minibus. Overall I must say, don't book with them, they lie to you and just want the maximum of money and to cheat you

I contacted Colonial Tour and Travel for a transfer between my resort in Punta Cana and AirBnB in Santo Domingo. It was fairly last minute and the sales rep was extremely prompt in replying to emails and queries. It cost $42 per person each way and it was effectively a private transfer since there were only my friend and I.
Our driver, Elias, was punctual in picking us up in Punta Cana. The 2.5hr drive was really smooth.
What really impressed me was what happened when we got to Zona Colonial in Santo Domingo. The address on Google Maps did not quite match the description given by my AirBnB host. Knowing that my friends and I were not fluent in Spanish, he stayed with us and helped us contact locals who knew the AirBnB host. He went on to stay with us until he made sure we were in our host’s apartment. He definitely went above and beyond and kudos to him.

Yesterday, I went on a group tour to visit La Zona Colonial with Colonial Tours & Travel.
During the tour, from time to time, the tour guide felt the need to mention that Dominican people are of mixed skin tones which was obvious thus irrelevant, off-topic, unnecessary, low class and simply ridiculous.
(Focus on actual HISTORY not color.)
To make matters worse, during lunchtime, there was a table reserved only for 8 people but we were 9.
Instead of quickly finding a smooth solution to fix the situation, the tour guy singles me out, pulls me to the side and tries to have me sit on a table apart from the group. I felt isolated, uncomfortable, EXcluded and unwanted.
I left furiously and complained to the company. They keep saying that the situation occurred due to me making the reservation at the last minute but the reality is that the tour guide failed and I repeat failed and refused to easily accommodate me.
He instead preferred to isolate me.
I know that the tour guy behaved in such a LOW life manner because he knows that I'm from Haiti.
What he doesn't know is that I hold Master of Laws degree in Human Rights and I do not tolerate injustice, racism and discrimination.
The company reimbursed me my money but that is not sufficient. This tour guy needs to face consequences for his rude and ugly behavior towards a tourist who did not deserve such a nasty treatment.

My friend and I did 2 tours with Colonial Tour and Travel.
First, Victor took us on a private tour to 27 Charcos and Santiago. We really enjoyed the trip and Victor made stops along the way, so we saw sites we weren't expecting to see.
Next, we did a group tour to Sanoa Island. It took awhile to get there from Santo Domingo because we stopped along the way to pick up guests at various resorts. The group tour was half of the price as a private tour, so this didn't bother us. The bus was very comfortable and we got to see the terrain along the drive. Sanoa Island was beautiful, except that this was not a snorkeling tour like we thought (company should remove pictures of snorkeling from their website). There were quite a few live starfish in the water that were neat. We took a speed boat to the island and a catamaran back. It was a very fun experience!

The Colonial Tour and Travel to Saona Island internet add is wrong. The Catamaran ride to the island was the best part of the trip. The buffet line with Spaghetti Lobsters was wrong (there were none). If you want to purchase a lobster it cost you $22 for a small one $32 for large one. The natural pool has no live star fish. The tour guide brings an old dried star fish up and takes your picture with that. There was not stop as advised to the Mediterranean Village or stop to Altos de Chavo. The only thing really good about this tour is the Catamaran ride over to the island and the island itself. They even bring you back on a speed boat that is a rough ride. There really push you to buy a picture cd and a trip video. $45 $ 40 each.

Here their website: Looks a lot better on-line then it really is. Not worth $75 a person!

Nous aimerions réserver nos vacances en RD par ce tour opérateur, Est-ce que quelqu'un à un avis sur la question. e parle ici de réservation d'hôtel et non une excursion?
Merci
