This is a very nice place to visit with your family or groups if you like gardens and plants or if you like to know more about dominican or caribbean plant Species. You can walk around the well mantained areas or pavillions or take the train and stop in the japanese garden, wich is more than worth the visit. This... More

This place looks impressive when you walk in you see this beautifully designed cobblestone park. The masory work was beautiful but not stroller friendly. There is a train that takes you around the park highlighting the impotant plants etc. My tour was in Spanish however I assume they also give the tour in English. I believe there was 4 gardens... Train tour inside the botanic garden with train was interesting. It is too big territory to walk. We got some really good photos from the Japanese garden.

Yes, this is one of my favorite places. Even it the warmest weather you go in and you feel the coolness of the different ecosystems. Take the train with younger children or a slow stroll with your loved one. Go for a run, go for a walk or enjoy a picnic. Don't miss el Jardín Japonés Take tons of pictures

I am very proud of our Botanical Gardens. With very limited resources a vast extension of gardens lie in the middle of a busy city. Its paths are always clean and the different areas of vegetation are beautiful indeed. The Japanese garden is a jewel created by a japanese who lived most os his life in Dominican Republic. The humid... More

Very well laid out gardens with plenty of interest, There is a small train with a guide which will take you round the garden with a walking tour of the Japanese garden included. It was very hot when we visited so the train was a must. Free entry for senior citizens

This is a perfect place to spend an afternoon. There are several sections including a Japanese garden and a Taino walking trail. The only available maps are posted, so you need to snap a picture with your phone. It's $5 per person to get in which includes the 35 minute train ride. Most of the signage is in Spanish only,... The National Botanical Garden is more like a nice park and not much of a botanical garden. The paths are wide and well kept. You feel like you're out in the jungle. The Japanese Garden is nice but a little tired. The rest of the garden is bad need of repair. Some plants are in cages Yes cages like at... More

We like going to the botanical gardens every few years. Taking the train is the only way to go around since walking is very extensive and tiring. The garden has many different displays.

There is much written about this place in birding guides. So if you love bird watching (as we do) go there! It is a bit stressy to drive there - Santo Domingo is not for the fainthearted driver. So you might get a taxi. Once there pay your entrance fee and start walking straight from the entrance and left of... More
