a few excellent cafes allow you to sit and get some serious mojito and pina coladas, some annoying street vendors, but overall a good place top rest and plan your excursion into the old city,

Beautiful statue . People sit around it and sell items and street dancers . Santo Domingo loves their culture and history.

The old cathedral, old municipal center and loads of historical buildings surround this square. There is decent shopping, good food and great history here. It's a great place to spend some time.

Very shaded, with lots of people. Please, please, please stop asking me if I want a guided tour. Yes, I know that you are "licensed" by the "official" tourism department of Santo Domingo and that your tour is undoubtedly the best. I just don't care.
