very nice walking and seeing local people

The avenue is very safe. You can see the ocean and local people in this area. We took a lot of pictures there and had one dinner.

Definitely needs to be maintained properly but location is great. Walking at night is not advised. On the 1st night we were immediately approached by locals asking if we were interested in strippers etc

ok, there isn't much to do on "the malecon", as we locals call it. i recommend going to adrian tropical on the av. g. washington, sit down and have a nice cup of fresh juice. (NOT TROPICANA) we don't serve tropicana juice here, kind of ironic, that we are in tropics and we don't serve "tropicana" juice here. jajaja! though,... More

This avenue offers great views of the gorgeous beautiful and baby blue ocean and of course of the city. I highly recommend a walk on the avenue to enjoy the palm trees and the ocean.

The avenida is the central main strip of Santo Domingo which goes the length of the entire town from beach place to beach place... however be mindful that there are no PUBLIC or HOTEL BEACH FRONT ACCESS locations along the main area's. You have to physically travel to the beaches which are about 15-30 minutes away. Moreover, there are great... More

The road can be congested but a decent view of the river opening up into the ocean/bay. The beaches are now closed due to pollution. On the land side, only notable buildings are some hotels and casinos

It's a beautiful highway by the seashore. A couple of restaurants, hotels and parks with near access to the Colonial Zone makes it one of the most attractive areas in the city!

Our hotel was situated right on George Washington Avenue. We wanted to cross the street to take advantage of the park and beaches but traffic was so heavy in front of the hotel we felt it was risky to try and cross the street so we were content with the view from our eighth floor hotel room!

Go by this avenue in car, walking or jogging. You can see a lot of the city in one place. It start from Colonial zone and go up to Haina. A distance of near 20 Km. You go by restaurants, hotels, buildings, parks and many other things. At night is like discoteque. People from the city go to this avenue... More

No visit to Santo Domingo is complete without visiting the Colonial Zone or strolling along the Malecon (Avenida George Washington)! Hire a cart pulled by horses at sunset, and enjoy the view! The sea view all along is beautiful. There are plenty of parks and benches. Lots of restaurants, giftshops, malls, good hotels (Jaragua hotel, Hilton and other), movie theater... More
