Passion fruit rum (ron de chinola), where have you been all my life? This may only be a 30 minute tour but very informative and the curators were so nice. They were very patient knowing I was learning Spanish at university. Plus, they sell travel friendly packages of rum to take home and bottles to consume in town. I learned so much!

You get a personal tour through this small museum specializing in rum and sugar cane. The tour is a little light on all tons of information, but what she missed in detail is made up for on the placards and in the quaintness of the location. You get to try a few of the rums during the visit, and each was fantastic. Oh! And while it didn't look open at all, they opened the space for us and took us through!

The museum is small, but very nice and informative. In half hour you can do the tour, taste the rum and learn about these products. The stuff very friendly.

We enjoyed the tour and the history, though it is only a small place. Tip: The rum here is cheaper than in the Supermarket.

This is a little hard to find but well worth the effort. A good history of Rum in the Caribbean in an old Spanish villa with adjacent warehouse. They offered tastings of Rum natural , with coffee and other flavours

You could see all the equipment necessary to make the rum.
They offer a great variety of their own rum. Great prices we loved.

Tuesday16th April we were on a day tour of Santo Domingo, we had completed our trip around the streets in the street train, Chu Chu Colonial Santo Domingo, which conveniently dropped outside this rum museum and factory..
Our Guide described the ancient process of making rum, on display there were a number of old vessels, vats and tools used in the process. One of the implements was the a Trapiche which was used to extract the liquids from the sugar cane.
We sampled pineapple and natural rum in the small courtyard to the rear of the building. From there we were led into the shop where guests could purchase rum and other gifts. There was no hard sell but it was obvious that this was the main reason for visiting here.

Went to the place looking for a unique place with a nice concept and good offerings based on the local rum industry but found nothing but a standard bar with nothing but a regular Cocktail menu and some low quality rums. At 8 pm the so called museum was closed and could not even see it. The upper terrace or Bar was decorated in a cheap manner and did not respected the beautiful old building. The waiters are not well informed of what the place is. A tourist trap !
