This is a good museum with a great audio guide and interesting exhibits that help you learn about history of the country. The building has two parts with its is living quarters and government administrative offices in the two wings and good and interesting explanations. I much ordered this museum to the colon house across the plaza.

It is a great place to get a refresher of Colon's trips and his arrival to these lands. They have a nice collection of colonial stuff. I recommend visiting it.

The museum is located in a beautiful building and is organized in a very clear and informative manner. It had been a long time since I had studied Latin American history in school. This museum was a great source of information on Queen Isabella's and King Ferdinand's quest to expand their power and influence in new lands....not to mention the... More

This is my favorite museum in the colonial zone. It is just architecturally interesting. You are even greeted by a peacock in the courtyard. I first went during a quarterly free museum night out put on by the government when you can visit several local museums for free, La Noche Larga de los Museos. I returned the other day. The... More

This place is beautiful. Very Louis the 16th esque. But I came to see Trujillo's office and it was not there. :-(. Still enjoyed touring the museum. Also, I read somewhere that it cost 50 pesos to get it in… WRONG. It costs 100 pesos per person.

A lovely, well kept museum. Our tour guide provided an informative, friendly and well humoured experience for us; reading the group well. The visit was well paced, we weren't rushed and I didn't feel that we were hanging around unnecessarily either. Questions were quickly and appropriately answered. I'd certainly visit again.

This is a well done museum about the early settlement and discovery of Hispaniola. There are models of many of the ships used in that era. There are original papers in Columbus's writing. The audio guide is well done and fast enough moving that kept even my husband a reluctant museum goer happy.
