The Emerald Pool is a must visit whether be by a day visitor coming in upon the mega cruise ships, or the longer stay visitors here on business or adventure seeking. In fact for the visitors on business it is an evening outing that must...More

A recent hurricane that essentially flattened the tropic forests of Dominica has seriously affected the visuals for tourist sites in Dominica. The way that nature is recovering is fascinating, in itself. Since the island is mostly National Parks tropical forests, it will recover more quickly...More

Beautiful water fall area but surrounding forest is still recovering from hurricane. I chose not to walk down the steps due to bad knees. There were vendors in the parking lot.

Places like this are exhibit A of why Dominica is smart to not open itself up too much to tourism - the pool itself is beautiful, but it is so accessible that bus loads of gawking tour groups come there whenever there is a cruise...More

Decided to go it alone as the cruise ship excursions were fully booked . Shared a taxi with a family from Sheffield and went to see the emerald pool and then went rafting down the river which was a blast.

The 15 minute trail from the visitor centre has lots of steep steps and would not suit anyone with bad hips or knees. The viewing platform is ideal for selfies and observing those having a dip in the pool. It is very atmospheric and the...More

Stopped at the Emerald Pool as part of a cruise ship tour. About a 15 minute hike from the parking lot. Very lovely spot to swim and take pictures. Only one of the trails was open as they were doing maintenance on the others. Small...More

Great and easy little walk to this beautiful waterfall and pool. Went for a swim and it was so refreshing. A must see of the island! Not many signs after the hurricane but make sure to pull it up on a Google map or something...More

getting there can be fun; very few road signs remain after maria, so you need 'homing' skills to get there. A small hike, but worth it.

Short walk down to the pool. There are trails around if you want to hike. If you go into the pool there are a lot of large rocks where you first go into the pool so watch your footing. The water is very cool and...More

I think you must contact a tour operator to be sure. It isn't very far from Rosseau but the drive is quite circuitous. We had hired a car from Courtesy Rentals.

It's been a while, but I believe it was 45 minutes. It's not beach-like, so there isn't a real comparison. It's a tourist location, so it won't feel secluded, and due to very cold water, you won't swim for extended periods.

It would be an hour drive on a windy road. Worth it though!
