The Emerald Pool is a must visit whether be by a day visitor coming in upon the mega cruise ships, or the longer stay visitors here on business or adventure seeking. In fact for the visitors on business it is an evening outing that must...More
A recent hurricane that essentially flattened the tropic forests of Dominica has seriously affected the visuals for tourist sites in Dominica. The way that nature is recovering is fascinating, in itself. Since the island is mostly National Parks tropical forests, it will recover more quickly...More
Places like this are exhibit A of why Dominica is smart to not open itself up too much to tourism - the pool itself is beautiful, but it is so accessible that bus loads of gawking tour groups come there whenever there is a cruise...More

It's been a while, but I believe it was 45 minutes. It's not beach-like, so there isn't a real comparison. It's a tourist location, so it won't feel secluded, and due to very cold water, you won't swim for extended periods.
