Visiting the Trafalgar Falls does not take much time because it's a short easy walk from the parking lot, plus the fact that it's only a 20-minute drive from Roseau. It's a much better alternative for people short on time than some other waterfalls in Dominica which are very nice but hours away. Also it is worth noting that there were no mosquitoes in the jungle when walking towards the falls! The one disadvantage is that there is no easy access to a "pool" of water to swim in at the bottom of the falls.

My wife and I paid a short visit to the falls when stopping off in the area from our cruise of the West Indies and really enjoyed the time there. Truly amazing waterfall with huge black rocks underneath and all round fantastic views. Well worth the effort to get there.

Was on a bus tour and Trafalgar Falls was one of the stops. Turned out to be one of the best stops we made. Not a bad hike with steps, some were s little taller than others. Maybe a little over 1/4 mile hike but the walk though the rain forest was one of the best parts! Lush green leaves almost blocking out the sun, then you get to the falls. There is a platform you can rest on and take photos. The falls were spectacular with the scope of how tall they are. It was definitely worth the hike up and back!

The Father Falls, with a drop of around 85 meters, and the Mother Falls, with a drop of around 40 meters, make up the Trafalgar Falls. There is easy access to these falls. We came here as part of a Regent Cruise excursion. Unfortunately my photos did not turn out right. Go to the Internet for photos.

Visit Trafalgar Falls. Hire a car to take you there. Bring your swimming suit. You will never forget the beauty of the place for the rest of your life. You will climb over a field of boulders as big as a car to reach the pool at the base of the falls. The rain forest rises on 3 sides and you can look down into the valley below. An easy day's sail from either Martinique or Guadeloupe, Dominica is unspoiled by tourism. The residents are friendly, the food is good, and the interior is extremely beautiful. Don't miss it.

Park entry is $2. If you are in Dominica for more than a couple of days, get the $10 week pass for all the forest parks. You may even want to repeat Trafalgar a few times!
The walk way to the Fall viewing area is fairly easy for the generally fit.
Past the viewing platform, the pathway is well worn but tricky with rocks.
Ahh, the warm water pools! The beauty, the warmth. There is a wonderful place in Costa Rica called Tabacon Hot Springs. This Trafalgar falls is a pre-commercialized Tabacon! Either spend the day soaking in the warm spring pools, or hike carefully around the pools and falls. Be so careful. The rocks and boulders and water pose a danger. You can hike up to the pools at the base of the falls, they are wonderful and exhilarating.

We booked a tour with Bumpiing Tours with Levi Baron. Our first stop was Trafalgar Falls. If you are going to Dominica, thisis a place not to be missed. The place can get a little crowded especially when there are many cruise ships in port, so go early. If you take a taxi, make sure you get dropped of at the top. You have a long walk ahead of you if you get dropped of at the bottom. Our tour operator was awesome, he knew how to do it right. You can also get in the water at the falls, so bring a swimsuit and towel if you want to get wet. Our tour included admission, so I'm not sure how much it costs to get in.
Also, please be aware that this is a little bit of a hike, not much, but you do have to do some walking on trails, both down and uphill. On our way back we passed an older lady that was a bit winded and had to rush to go sit down. So please be careful

we did trafalgar falls with peppers tours (see other listing). it is a short very easy walk to the viewing platform. a great place to get some nice photos BUT do yourself a favour and keep going beyond the viewing platform.
take water shoes and your swimmers and scramble and climb over the boulders and rocks.
first you come to the hot water baths. but keep going.
after about 15 mins of climbing you reach the basin at the bottom of mama falls. the water is crystal clear and perfect to swim in. the spray is like being in a shower but it creates a horse shoe rainbow all around. we climbed to the side of the falls which was very slippery.
we then made our way back to the hot springs which are a perfect temperature , like a hot bath. there are several levels of pools and the water feels beautiful and after just a couple of minutes your skin feels totally different. i could have stayed all day.
do this trip with pepper who helps you find your way , carries the camera etc but much more he energises you with his infectious nature.
we had the best day of our cruise on dominica and the best of dominica is trafalgar falls

The person from Des Moines hit the description on the head. I couldn;t of said it better. Remember it is a rainforest and you will probably get rained on. There is also a small pool of natural hot springs on the way to the falls. It is like a hottub, get in and enjoy.

a brief visit to trafalgar falls was a component of the tour i took my second full day in dominica. it was not actually high on my "to do" list. the friends of mine who'd already been to the island had stopped in the port in roseau for a few hours during caribbean cruises, and i figured that trafalgar falls would just be some sort of cliched tourist trap.
don't get me wrong- the souvenir peddlers at the entrance to the park are certainly keeping an eye out for tourists- but the twin waterfalls are truly breathtaking, and worth a quick visit, if for no other reason than to say you've seen them. (if you have more time to spare, you can go beyond the observation platform and get closer to the cascades, passing some lovely hot springs along the way.)
helpful hint: if you plan on climbing around on the rocks near the cascades, particularly at the shorter waterfall (on the left as you're facing them), it's probably best to remove your shoes, as they are very slick.

Hi, hartskys2. What would you like to know about this attraction?
Did you take a tour? We are coming in on a ship and wondered if there are operators at the pier and about how much it is for a tour.

you can take a short walk to the supermarket, and catch the local van right up to the falls. takes about 20 mins and costs about $5. I'm sure with a ship coming in there will be plenty of people at the wharf offering to take you

Yes. I didn't swim there so I don't recall if there a really deep pools, but you can definitely get in the water.

How easy is the wal from the car park to the viewpoint? I am 60 and have arthritic knees but I would really like to see the Falls if I can.

It is a relatively easy walk to the platform. A few stairs which are not steep with the exception of one or two. It goes uphill and downhill. The steps are not high so small kids can climb with ease. I would say it's just a few minutes walk to the lookout which is sheltered and has about two wooden benches. You can get some great photos from there.
Lost camera?
My friend and I rescued a camera off a hard to reach rock at trafalgar falls on 28/06/15. It's a black Olympus camera with a red strap.
It has lots of holiday photos on it so we would love to return it!
Message me if it's yours or you know the owners!
Thanks

May I ask how much you paid for the taxi. We will be 4 people, and I always prefer to take a taxi, but an idea of how much to pay would be helpful.

The cost when I went Dec. 2019 was $25.00 USD per person. There were about 20 people on the open-air shuttle. Guide was fantastic!

How many steps to the platform to photograph the falls?
Sher N
Lowestoft, UK113 contributions
I can't remember exactly how many but the steps went up and down and they were not high so small children can climb with ease. Most of the path is sheltered with trees so it's a pretty shady walk. It you get tired along the way you can also just take a break and stand to the side in the shade. Make sure to take some water and bug spray and a camera if you decide to go. Try if you can as the view is amazing!! Although from the lookout it's just about 5 mins or less to the sulphur pool which might be good for your knees. There is one spot along the way which might give a little trouble as you have to cross a little water and climb over a small rock. Just remember that you'd have to climb this on the way back. It's not difficult but try to if you can!! Good luck!!
