So this company has great gear and based on the other review our trip wasn't the luckiest since we only saw 2 sperm whales (so I hadn't seen any before so, still a win!) Obviously part of it is bad luck, but we also had a ship captain that seemed very unfocused on his tasks. The sonar was barely used and he was on his phone most of the time playing games (instead of looking where he was going so the ship kinda went in zigzags). Therefore we feel that a more determined captain might have put more effort into actually finding animals. The whole experience from arrival to returning to shore was 5h which is a bit too long for what we ended up seeing.

Dive Dominica was very easy to communicate with and they were very flexible with us since we came off a cruise for the day. (Thank you!) Excellent dive sites at Soufriere/Scott's Head Reserve....particularly enjoyed The Abyss wall dive with TWO seahorses!! Fun group!

We dove with Imran, Joy, and Kevin with Naomi and the Captain Stinger onboard. We did a wall dive at Soufriere-Scott’s Head Marine Reserve at 75 ft. We then travelled to the Nearby Campagne Reef where gas bubbles up from the bottom. We dove at 50 ft here. Many snorklers at this site, so it was good to be beneath the traffic. Pretty coral and fish. Both dives were easy and crew were very helpful.

We did a morning whale watch with Dive Dominica (booked as an excursion through our cruise). Every aspect of the logistics and safety were top notch. We left and returned on time, we had a full safety brief, we had access to water in a cooler and juice brought around to us. We had some education about the types of whales we might see and the plan for the trip, i.e., using the hydrophones to get a bearing and then heading toward the sounds of the whales. I appreciated that the ship had both shade and storage space, so all we had to do was keep our eyes peeled. And sure enough, everything worked and was AMAZING. We saw dolphins, pilot whales (who rode along with us for a while), and we saw 5 sperm whales, including a mother and calf. We heard them clicking under water using the hydrophones and we were treated to a breach jump in addition to many blows. The crew even predicted the breach, telling us not to put our cameras away! This was a positively amazing experience and we all got off that boat waling on air after these sightings. Well worth the trip and an adventure we would do again.

Brenton, our boat captain, took us to many good dive sites at the southern end of Dominica at Scott's Head. Brenton knows the dive sites and manages his crew well. He is much fun but always put safety first. Most dives were in the Caribbean Sea in a bay formed by a collapsed volcano. A few dives were in the Atlantic when weather and sea conditions permitted. The dives include steep walls, underwater pinnacles with gorges and many reef formations. Many interesting fish, rays, eels and other sea life. The dive boat was a catamaran with plenty of room for divers. We did two morning dives from 8:30am to 12:30pm.
