As the sign (below) explains, this formerly was the location of guns defending the city. Now it offers stunning views of the city and sea. Part of that is a new stadium that China provided major funding for (something we heard on several islands)

Originally we thought we would drive here but after visiting Botanic Gardens we discovered there is a trail up to the first vista point (the one with the cross/cannon) and then up there we discovered the other "for cars" vista point with the expanded map/info and beautifully benches set up for some sun soaking and sea breeze exposure - very rewarding after a difficult hike (it's steep, narrow and slippery at times, even in dry conditions). Views are 3-4 stars, but with the hike and the fact you get 2 vista points it's 5 in my book :)
For hike shoes are an absolute must; though I did see some people in flip flops... it's up to you. Take some water with you as you will "burn some calories" and at the actual vista point there are restrooms but no vendors/shops to get water from.
Definitely worth a stop and your time while in Roseau area - we actually spent good 30 minutes just sitting on the benches after the hike, it's super relaxing and peaceful and there is barely anybody there as most people get dropped off downhill at the Botanic Gardens and from there they go somewhere else
TIP: the "official vista point" is much better in my opinion and you can always walk from there to the one where you would hike to, thus you can hit both if difficult hike/walk up is not your thing

This is a scenic overlook......good views of Roseau, and if your cruise ship had docked there, a good view of the ship.
This stop is will take just a few minutes of your time. So if you are in the area, make a stop, however don't go way out of your way to go here.
All in all, it is still a lovely view.

For the best views of the town of Roseau visit Morne Bruce.
We did it the hard way following the path known as "Jack's Walk" from the Botanical Gardens. It's quite a climb (264 steps says my wife) in the heat of the day but the reward is worth it. It is also possible to drive to the top but the view is all the better for having earned it.

Would not go out of the way to go here, but a nice panoramic view if you are on a tour. Cruise ship pictures are very good from this vantage point.

Beautiful view from here, including the cruise ship pier. Take lots of pictures. There are a couple souvenir stands up here as well, but the people aren't pushy or bothersome. Their items are inexpensive as well.

I was taken by bus to this lookout. Great view of the city of Roseau. Next time I would like to walk up the hill from the botanical gardens to here.

Good view of Roseau and the Botanic gardens underneath. Information boards to read a bit about the history. Good photo opportunity.

We walked up Jaco's Walk from the Botanic Gardens to Morne Bruce, It was hot even though it's shaded by the trees and steep in places but rewarding with the views over Roseau and the ocean at the top. We were the only ones there which made it peaceful
(no vendors or other visitors). There's an information board up there which gives a bit of the history to put it all in context and they were redoing parts of the trail, presumably ready for high season next year.

This is a nice place to drop by and take in the amazing view of Roseau. A great place to watch the sunset.
Take a walk around...there's a botanical garden and interestingly, there's a site where a large tree was knocked down during Hurricane David of 1979 (David the Goliath) crushing a school bus. It's been left there ever since. Very interesting and eerie.

Hi going there on a cruise. Would like to hire driver for the six of us to see sights. Wat would you recommend and about how much should I expect to pay? Did you see the Emerald Pool?
Thanks, Bob

We didn't book our excursion through the boat. We just went right off the dock and found a driver who was awesome! His name is Patrick Wallace, he's a native of the island and a wonderful tour guide and now friend. You can usually find Patrick at the end of the pier when you are at the Roseau cruise port and he will give you a personal tour that is incredibly special. He has an ID and usually wears something with USA (red, white & blue) on it. Patrick personally took us to see some of the finest and most popular scenic sites ranging from beautiful views of the city, botanical gardens, and even drove us to the top of the mountain to see breathtaking Trafalgar Falls.
Patrick knew every little detail about the island's culture, plant life, and historical sites. We finished off our 3 hour tour with an amazing lunch in the tropical rain forest. We felt so comfortable that we asked him to join us for lunch and found a friend for life. If you are looking for a unique personal tour, then please call Patrick Wallace at 1-646-340-2773 ahead of time to book your special day and a life changing experience!
