Papillote Gardens is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. It's lush green rainforest, brilliant tropical flowers, hot pools and cold waterfall are magical. There are wonderful hot pools to soak in with the sounds of the birds and the rainforest around you. Great for friends, family or just some time on your own.
I was there in February 2020 and it is indeed open! Owner Anne Jno-Baptiste is a delight! Thank you for sharing this eden-on-earth with us :-)

The Papillote gardens are open and magical. The area by the lower falls still in cleanup stage, but a federal walk is well worth the visit. A mixture of the taller waterfall —now more visible — whimsical sculptures and gorgeous plantings is unique and beautiful. A guided tour includes information about traditional uses of plants, as well as rare specimens.

I wandered the gardens, bathed in the hot pools and had a chance to chat with Anne, who is the garden’s creator. A magical and inspiring experience for me. I can’t wait to come back!

We got off the cruise ship with this destination in mind, after reading the reviews it sounded just what we wanted. This attraction was devastated by the hurricane, and is CLOSED. Under construction. We only stayed off the ship for 1 hour. Very poor and delapedated.

I highly recommend this privately-owned tropical garden deep in the Dominica rain forest. We arrived at Dominica by cruise ship and entered the Visitor Center to ask for them to arrange a private taxi. The cost was US$80 for the two of us. It would cost less per person if we had more people. The drive into the rainforest takes about 20 minutes from downtown Roseau. Although the gardens have suffered by recent hurricane damage, there is still plenty of beauty to see. Breathtaking flora of great varieties, natural hot pools to soak in (bring a bathing suit and a towel). There are bathrooms and changing rooms. There’s also a little restaurant where they will bake you a fresh-made pizza and serve you local rum punch. All for a reasonable price. We were the only two people there for most of our 3 hour visit. Go. You won’t be disappointed.
