Nothing to do

The fort is tiny, the area is poorly maintained and there is nothing to do here. It is a five-minute visit to take in the moderate views before leaving again.

Breathtaking View!

What an easy and breathtaking adventure to take!!! This is a free easy excursion to self-guide, with an easy walk to the fort and up to the top. There is a staircase and a small ladder to climb to the top of the fort. The top of the fort has an absolutely breathtaking view. Well worth the visit and it is completely free and basically abandoned at all times!

Car thefts happen here
Nov 2020 • Couples
Fort is cool.

Believe the stories of people breaking into cars here, happened to me. They wait for you to enter the fort, then break the drivers side window, pop the trunk, open the glove box and take everything.

Be very careful here.

Interesting to walk among the ruins of this former fort. You can see how the fort was armed and view the cannons. Great view of the water on top.

stopped here on our way to snorkel tug boat.
view was good, nice paths around there to check out. But the bast was going by tug boat bar and snorkeling and hanging on those giant ropes from the ship as they lifted out of the water as the ship swayed with the wind!!!

Do not leave valuables in your car!!!

This Fort has to be the coolest one to visit on the entire island BUT it's in a very secluded area that is extremely prone to car break-ins. We unfortunately learned about this the hard way, and spent the rest of our time in Curacao hearing from others that it's a very prevalent issue around the fort (too little to late for that advice, hah).

Would completely recommend going to see this fort but either park in a more populated part of the beach and walk to it, or leave absolutely no visible items in the car that would attract unwanted attention. Thankfully we were able to get the damages and deductible covered by the credit card we used to book the rental; but it was a hassle none the less and took nearly a full day to meet with the police, file a report, swap rental cars, etc.

The views at the forst itself are stunning and I'd suggest climbing it all the way to the top (the last portion requires climbing a short ladder). It's worth the trip out, just be aware of your surroundings.

Truly historic!

The oldest fort on the island of curaçao and still in great condition and worth a visit. It’s free to get in and explore but the parking area is quite small and right off the road. Make sure to lock your car and leave nothing. The fort itself can be seen from a few miles sitting perched atop a hillside. There is a ladder inside so you are able to climb right to the top and have a breathtaking view of the ocean below. The original cannons are still sitting atop the tower and are quite amazing to look at. Just a short drive from Willemstad but so worth it.

We stopped here while on a mountain bike tour. It's great to see that Curacao is sharing some history with us. The views from the fort are awesome.
