The beach is quiet but no restrooms. There is a security guy so your car is safe and the beach is clean. We had hiked to the Blue Room and saw a tour out with "Captain Good Life" and decided to come back the next day to go out with him. It is a lot easier to visit the Blue Room by boat than by climbing up/down the rocks to get to it and his tour was $25 for a two hour tour. He also took us to a sunken ship and to some great snorkeling sites not otherwise accessible. He is a really nice local guy/small business operator and this is a family run operation. It's nice to support the little guy and this was a really enjoyable tour well worth the price.

Captain Goodlife is terrible!
We were interested in diving at Mushroom Forest but the boat trip is much more expensive for divers than for snorkellers which does not make sense as we are fully equipped and both takes 1 hour. We wanted to know why but he just yelled at us and became very aggressive. This is a very disagreable person, just avoid him and go elsewhere.
The prices are way too expensive for such a short distance.
Furthermore, a poor dog is not leading a good life at all as the sad creature is kept at a very short chain.

The beach itself is alright but never go to Captain Goodlife or you will have a bad life!

The blue room (or blue cave) is pretty amazing. However, to get there via Captain "Goodlife" you need to be prepared to be basically neglected and take your well-being into your own hands if you go with this guy. I'm a very seasoned traveler and don't expect to be catered to, however there are fundamentals of the tourism trade that one does expect. I know how to deal with salty folks, but this guy was completely off his mood, so much so it made us uncomfortable. The rate for a 10 min (max) boat trip to the blue room with him is now 22$US per person. At first he said he did not have mask, snorkel, fins for rent. After some negotiation (be prepared for this to be brusque), he does rent a leaky mask and snorkel for 5$ US (we had assumed this was part of the boat fare)... but fins, forget it. TS Matthew knocked out his pier, so you are dealing with a beach entry to a siderail on the boat that has a tendency to come bouncing off. You and your bags will be thoroughly soaked trying to shore enter the vessel, as the captain/crew does nothing to assist (to be fair, he does have to hold the boat in position, but his assistant offered no help with getting bags on, although we had asked if they would be kept dry when we bought our fair and were told it would be fine... it wasn't fine.). Living in the Caribbean myself, I realize weather happens and you do what you need to after a storm to keep you business running. However, rather than discount for the inconvenience of a shore entry, he now is charging MORE because he has to fix his pier. His bad luck is now both your inconvenience, and your greater cash outlay. On our trip there was really no talk, explanation or instruction.

Some scuba divers negotiated their way onto the boat to be dropped at mushroom forest. The captain really couldn't have cared less about them as he dropped them off. One of the divers had not filled his BC or turned on his air, so struggled to get back to the surface and was clearly panicked. Goodlife never even noticed this, which is not the mark of someone who is looking out for your safety. We were dropped a solid 10 minute swim against current below the blue room, with nothing but a wave from him to tell us to leap off the boat.

The blue room is very cool. As others have posted, you need to be prepared for a potentially strong 10 ft underwater swim, guard your head when you come up, and simply don't try it if there is much wave or surge (if you are snorkeling/free swimming). We were there on a day when it was a pretty easy passage, but as a strong swimmer, it still looks a little intimidating from the outside.

If I did it again, I'd choose another strategy for getting there.

After your swim, you re-board via aforementioned falling-off side ladder and are taken to a sunken "wreck" you passed over en route to the cave. It's mildly interesting, at best. At the end of the ride, we were dropped back off on shore, with not a word from the captain. It honestly felt like we had somehow inconvenienced him for wanting to utilize his "tour".

If you want to go, you cannot email him, nor can your concierge secure a reservation. You show up around 12:30 (any earlier and you will be shouted at and told to come back at 1) and hope for the best. It is well signed and easy to find from the road. There is no marine head on the boat, but there is a tarp to cover from sun exposure. If you want a bathroom, you will pay an additional 1$US bathroom tax in his restaurant (even if you do the "tour"). He no longer does SCUBA tours of the mushroom forest (as listed on his website). For what you get, this really should be about $10US for the ride. The boat actually leaves at about 1PM, and you can count on being back by around 3PM (not 1-5 as listed on other reviews or his website). Take your own mask, fins and snorkel. Water shoes are also recommended, as there is a bit of painful coral detritus you have to walk through to get onto the boat at this point.

We went just up the road to Playa Lagun and had a delightful meal up there~ there's a great little breakfast/lunch/dinner spot to enjoy that area 5 min north of Playa Santa Cruz. If you don't have gear, you can rent there as well to equip you for your blue room adventure.

The playa santa cruz beach has basically no amenities other than what you will pay for with mr. "goodlife".

For $22 per person, this is the best bargain on the island! Captain Goodlife takes you to the Blue Room, a ship wreck site and a cave/reef all within 90 minutes. Be sure to bring snorkel gear. Just to clarify, this is not an official “tour”. Captain Goodlife takes you to these spots for you to explore on your own. Thank you Captain Goodlife!

A quite big Curaçao beach! Few people. We saw seaturtles here (please respect them and enjoy them in a dictanse). The plapas was of no use since they had benches build around them though. The «restaurant» was terrible. Abused parots in a small cage and a chained awfull looking dog. Garbage everywhere. Toilets where not to use. You could rent sunbeds.

Great time Kayaking with my husband down to the blue room from Capt Good Life's place. He was quite a character and used a bit too much colorful language for us, but he got us everything we needed and even came to get us on the way back as the wild was working against us. He proceeded to tell us it like a level 4 or 5 kayak experience, but we did pretty well for 1st timers. The blue room was beautiful and the views are irreplaceable. Overall great experience would def go again.

We went to Playa Santa Cruz to go on Kaptain Good Life boat trip to snorkel the blue room and a sunken boat. His boat trip leaves everyday at 1:00 does not take reservations. Be there about 15 minutes before 1:00 as he leaves right at 1:00 and while we were leaving another couple showed up and he told them to come back the next day. Trip cost $20 per person (cash only) and extra $5 each for snorkeling equipment if you do not bring your own. Bring exact change as it makes it easier for his wife that takes the money. Great trip! Blue Room is awesome. Play Santa Cruz beach is not my favorite beach as it is free and there was trash scattered around. Don't know if that is typical or because of hurricane Matthew that did close Knipp Beach due to the debris that washed up.

This is a nice and quiet place, we were there almost alone. The is a small coffee shop "The Captain Goodlife" that is terrible. Bad service, you will have to walk trough some caged parrots and 2 very unhappy and malnourished chained dogs. It's really depressing.

The absolute highlight of this beach is the snorkelling trip you can take from the shack at the extreme left of the beach. Great to go and see the blue room very special. I enjoyed the trip
