This area is certainly for a younger crowd. It is private but one can enter by paying a fee. There are restaurants and bars. A couple of very small souvenir shops and massage spas were also there. Not overly crowded during the week. Some parking...More

This was a great spot to hang out for the day. Many different areas to sit depending on the scale of restaurant you like. Beer and nachos to upscale dining all on one beach. Cute shops, clean and safe!

Stopped at this beach for snorkeling during a tour. The beach was crammed full brim to brim (sadly) not very easy to find a spot(lounge). It had a number of bars...as well crammed brim to brim. Not the kind of beach I like... prefer not...More

A private beach that attracts big crowds. Admittance fee required. Lounge chairs for rent. Restaurants and bars on site as are several shops. Water is enjoyable as is diving/jumping from the pier.

This is a small private beach with bars, restaurants, parking, and fine Argentinean steakhouse. There are restrooms, a dive school and restrooms located here. The area is walled off by security and a fee is needed during the day. In the evening it is free....More

Got here and paid 18fl for 3 people. Parked looked around and saw a quite small beach. Went to car to get our cooler and security stopped us, no coolers, drinks or food allowed. We got our money back and left.

This was a beautiful beach however watch your kids closely. There are a lot of drop off points close to the shore. The waters can become very deep really quickly.

The whole Jan theil beach area is beautiful- first class hotels, beautiful beaches with soft sand, restaurants. Then drive around this area and see the gorgeous, huge homes which have incredible views of the bays or ocean.

Jan Thiel beach is 13 km from the cruis ship terminal. This will take you 25-45 minutes depending on traffic.

Yes you will need a day pass, not expensive at all. I from a place (BRAZIL) where beaches are free of charge and I delighted paid for it. Not that far, but I advice to rent a car once buses will not reach it. Renting a car... More

Looking for Villa Advice from Curacao Veteran (3 Replies)
We are looking at going to Curacao this fall and are planning on renting a villa. From what I have seen so far, most that interest us seem to be either in Jan Thiel or Coral Estate areas. I know Coral Estate is a longer distance from Willemstad, but we are not really interested in being in the city at night anyway. Mostly what we want to do is go to beaches and beach bars during the day and then typically hang out at villa at night. Reasonable proximity to a grocery store is a plus but being...More

Both Jan Thiel or Coral Estate areas are nice but both are about the same distance from town. I would suggest staying to the west side of the island because thats where most all the beaches are. Thats the Coral estate side. I would also suggest you should investigate the Piscadera bay area, close to town, Blue bay fairly close to town and Coral Estate as well as the lagun area. As far as beach bars go I suggest Pirate bay in piscadera, or the beach bar in blue bay. Public beaches like Cas...More
Here now- mambo or jan theil for dinner? (1 Replies)
Staying at Santa Barbara. Wanted to venture off for dinner. I heard Mambo is more lively on a Sunday night but Jan Thiel appears to be a little closer? And where should we go? I have one recommendation for greenhouse in mambo or the pier or zanzibar in jan thiel? We like fresh fish or good steaks. Thank you!

Go to Mambo. From 6 PM happy hour at Wet and Wild and another one from 10 to 11. It will be full of people. h Also many restaurants to choose from. Green house is good indeed. So is El Grill. They have an indian place as well. or you can go downstairs and sit with your feet in the sand and eat pinchos (skewers) at Grill.

Restaurant/Beach Recommendations near Jan Thiel (2 Replies)
We will be staying in a villa in the Jan Thiel area. I was hoping someone could give me some advice on restaurants in the area we should hit. We will probably do a mix of nice restaurants and local basic fare. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, any beach recommendations? Our optimal beach would have a nice little beach bar, a chair with an umbrella and no huge crowds. We have a car and will gladly do some driving. Thanks, Chris

Jan Thiel beach is the closest to you but is very touristic has all facilities but for sure not the best beach on the island. It is crowded most of the time. About a 15 min drive is mambo beach but that is more or less the same as Jan Thiel Beach. Mambo beach also a beach with lots of facilities just like Jan Thiel only bigger and more comercial and it is a man made beach. But you are close to them check them out you may like it. The best beaches on the island are out west. The beaches out...More
