The sandy beach line is about 80m (250ft) long, white sand. Therefore it gets busy with swimmers, the water is shallow enough for kids to swim in.
Our biggest concern was that Jan Thiel Beach management regularly allows jet ski renters to park their jet ski in the prime beach spot (with beach being small as it is). This didn’t seem very respectful to beach guests, nor safe, as there are swimmers and snorklers in the water. There are no demarkation lines in water or on the beach. Aside from taking beach water space, the jet ski owners fuel it with petrol in the water where everyone swims.

Jan Thiel security guard seemed to be friends with the jet ski renters, and didn’t hesitate to make a bigger deal over guests bringing own water to the beach, than ensuring swimmers’ safety, or wearing his own mask.

If not for the jet skis in swimming waters, this would have seemed like a well-managed beach.ee

We spent the entire day here on Jan 1st, which we needed to recharge after the celebrations from the night prior. There was a DJ who played a great world music selection throughout.

The beach was great, although swim shoes are recommended because of the rocks on the ocean floor in shallow waters. The water temp was perfection to couple with its clarity. Absolutely beautiful views from this beach.

We prefer the quiet more natural beaches, but wanted to see this. We stayed all day. There is a good restaurant, great bar, clean restrooms and the water was amazing! We unfortunately visited when it was rather windy, so the waves were up. We couldn’t swim out to the reef in the middle of the bay. We read that this is definitely something to see. We still enjoyed snorkeling both the left and right sides on the bay. The waves were quite rough on the right side though. We still viewed quite a lot of fish, and many varieties. Most of the coral was dead and bleached though. I would recommend this beach to anyone who loves to snorkel and to families as well. Water entry is very easy, especially on the left-hand side.

Wednesday 20th April and we drove to visit this much talked about beach which is located on the southwestern area of the Island.

There is a charge of $3 entrance to the beach. Car parking here was a bit of a nightmare, so we parked up on the roadside and walked in and avoided being charged, just as well as we were only here for a look.

Although the beach is not very big, can only be about 300 metres long, it is definitely a mass tourism location. So many sunloungers squeezed it, almost on top of each other along the beach with some static umbrellas. It did not look very inviting or comfortable. There was a charge to use the loungers.

The beach is a mixture of white sand, coral, grit, stones with some rocks. It is a manufactured beach which is washed by the turquoise waters of the Southern Caribbean sea

There were a number of rather trendy bars and restaurants around.

Nice beach, plenty of space, beautiful area. Lot's of places to grab a drink of food. Many of the beaches you pay a small fee to use for the day. They often also charge for a chair rental. Good beach for families with kids. Easy to find when driving.

Jan Thiel is my least favourite beach of Curaçao. The beach is very, very small. Stoney and some strong currents. So not ideal if you're with small children. Furthermore, I don't like the atmosphere and crowd. Let's say it's a mass tourism spot that's frequented by a lot of Dutch package deal people. Although it wasn't that busy when we where there due to tourism taking a Covid-19 hit. We left the beach quickly for a spot at Zest, which was better (but still not as good as Blue Bay).

I thought the beach was beautiful. It wasn’t terribly busy on a Friday afternoon. Admission price and beach chair rental prices were very inexpensive. The beach itself was clean and well-kept, the water was warm and beautiful, the bottom of the beach was also very sandy with not too too many rocks. The water does get deep but the beach seems to be in a bay, so we didn’t have any waves. There were also a few cute little beach restaurants with great frozen mixed drinks, tons of seating, and the beach overall was pretty quiet. We had a great day here!

I spent a couple of days enjoying the facilities at this beach and after visiting the other beaches on the island of Curacao, I found this to be the best because it offers three restaurants, it's very clean, the staff is very friendly, and I enjoyed the overall convenience of being able to get there by bus from the city of Willemstad. If you are on a budget and must stay in Willemstad, use the inexpensive ($1) transportation and come out to Jan Theil Beach via the 6A Caracabaai bus from the Punda Bus Terminal located next the market. It takes about half an hour to get there from the city and the buses run every hour from the city. The seawater here is so refreshing, you can enjoy a nice snack at Zanzibar's or a gourmet meal at Zest Beach Cafe, or after 5pm enjoy a steak dinner at Tinto's. I also enjoyed the Spanish Water Cocktail at Zanzibar's and Blue Zest at Zest Beach Cafe. Hope this helps or you may message me here for more questions.
