A unique site, the attached museum had many interesting artifacts from the history of the synagogue and the Jewish community in Curacao. There are few cultural sites such as this in Curacao, so I highly recommend if you are interested in learning more about the...More

No matter how many times I have been to this synagogue, I am still overwhelmed by the beauty of the chapel and the museum! This time we werefirunateenough to attend a wedding of our close friends son. Words cannot describe entering the shul, the brass...More

This Jewish synagogue is the oldest in the western hemisphere. Still used for services today, it has a rich history, beautiful, serene interior, and imported sand floors! Why imported sand floors? While in Curacao, come find out, it's worth the time.

The oldest synagogue in the Western Hemisphere, you can't miss it if you go to Curacao. The interior is jaw-dropping, with original candelabra and the floor covered with sand. The members of the community are very friendly and helpful, too. A highlight of our trip.

We spent a fascinating morning touring Curacao's historic Jewish temple and museum, the Jewish cemetery, and an old plantation home and museum, all with Gigi Scheper. (GigiScheper@hotmail.com) She was both energetic and very interesting, adding perspective to the early history of Curacao's Jewish settlers. I'm...More

The synagogue is gorgeous and very spiritual. The museum is awesome. It tell a tale of Jewish religious and family life in Curacao for over one hundred years. Well worth several hours.
