The reef still looks healthy and full of life. Some visible bleaching but this has been happening everywhere in Atlantic.
It is a very nice dive.
I went with Go West Diving. They have a good boat and professional staff. I wish divers in our group would slow down and enjoy the reef instead of rushing forward all the time. I manage to snap a few photos from this dive.

Dove this site in late May of 2018. The reef is beautiful with lots of life. I recommend ending your dive in the blue room for some cool photos.

Accessible only by boat (we're told), Mushroom Forest is quite unusual compared to most of the island and the rest of the Caribbean. Large coral heads suffered some type of infection which "ate away" at their bases, leaving hundreds of mushroom shaped coral heads throughout the site.
A mostly shallower dive site, our dive maxed at 40'. The formations form a bit of a maze if you opt to swim through/around them rather than across their tops, so take a compass reading or follow your guide. While there are other sites with healthier growth and more fish, this is a fairly unique experience.
After traversing the site, we headed toward the island and surfaced in a cavern called The Blue Room. With a water depth about 15-16' and maybe 6-10' overhead, this comfortably fit the 8 folks on our dive (including the dive master). While there isn't a ton to look at in here, it was pretty cool surfacing inside the cavern and looking back out through the narrow water line opening.
From our resort, this was a pretty long boat trip, and a bit bouncy. There are a few operators that are a bit closer - it might be worth getting up early and driving up to one of them.

we have been visiting mushroom forest since 1999. Last time before this visit was 3 years ago. We were shocked to see that especially over the last five years, the reef has lost most, if not all, of its special qualities. Most of the mushroom towers are no longer covered with healty shield corals. Lots of algea all over the place.

Mushroom Forest is a beautiful site for Diving if you have any chance you could also be diving with dolphins on this dive site we did an hour dive in November special formations of corals shaped like giant Mushrooms packed with all kinds of fishes watch out for lion fish (even if they are working very hard at fishing them out of the waters) they are still some left (beautiful creatures) but very destructive for the corals (reason why they are fishing them out) also temperature of the water is very nice 86 degrees Its like being in your bathub it is an hour and a half boat ride from lion dive resort $110.00 for a 2 tank dive with ocean encounters (great people) to dive with

Relatively easy dive and would have love to have seen it 20 year ago when it was probably more vibrant.

Nice easy dive of about 12 meters or 35', lots of coral and tropicals, very slight current. Start the dive at Mushroom by boat and then work your way to Blue Cave for end of dive. First amateur dive video attempt so be nice with comments!

Hi!
I am very interested in diving at the Mushroom Forest along with the Blue Room.
Do you have any recommendations for dive shops who organize such trips?
I would appreciate your reply.
Thanks,
Clairie
