It is hard to believe this beach is real...so beautiful. It goes on and on and on. The sand is so fine and the Cubans staff work hard to keep it clean for tourists. Not everyone is respectful of course and there could be more re-cycling and trash bins easily accessible for those who are.

It is not a great place for long swimming as the undertow and sand banks impede this.

There is snorkeling and scuba in some spots but you have to take a tour or a boat to get to the reefs.

Some bird watching like pelicans but not a lot.

Kayaks and catamaran available for rent. I saw windsailing at some spots too. Waves not big enough for surfing. Paddle boards would be fun

Lifeguards watch constantly and enforce rules if someone goes out too far or tries to go in the water when it's too rough. Warning flags are posted daily. Not many locals on the beach except on the weekends when families picnic and bathe. Hotel security guards stop non-guests from trying to venture into a hotel off the beach.

There are some vendors selling drinks and trinkets on the beach but not many.

Lots of shells and bits of coral to be found for beachcombers but thankfully very little flotsam.

Some local fishermen with casting rods and lead weighted nets. I only saw very small fish when swimming.

Did not see any piers or wharves for boats, just the remains of a few old posts from 100 years ago.

The water is pristine. Every colour blue. Very few weeds or jelly fish. Just relaxing, peaceful, clean, and warm. What a gem!

BEST beach and water I have ever experienced. soft white sand and clear blue warm water. It's hypnotic. Watch out if a storm rises up though, after a windy day, there were a lot of jelly fish on the shore and one lady at our resort got stung pretty badly on her leg. One local told us that once March comes the waters are very smooth and that the locals don't even go in until their summer starts, lol!

Varadero is very much a tourist destination, the beaches are beautiful and the weather is lovely. There's the Cuban charm where even taking a taxi is an experience, being driven around in a 1958 Pontiac convertible just to go down to the store. Some people are quite nice but honestly a lot of them are pretty grumpy, don't smile much and sometimes they don't even talk to you even at the hotels. The market is awesome with lots of cool trinkets (I suggest the market on 15th street) but it does get annoying when you're trying to look around and the vendors will not stop talking about what kind of deals they can give you. Moving around is easy if you buy the 5 peso bus ticket which takes you around the peninsula, they come around every 10-15 minutes and you can get on/off as many times as you want until 9PM. DO NOT accept rides from the horse carriages, they will scam you on prices and get pretty aggressive trying to get you to hop on.
I've been to Varadero twice and I could keep coming back there as much as I could. Highly recommended!

We were able to take the hop on and off bus for 5 cuc per person . It was a very cheap way to travel from the resort to the town . We enjoyed the view . You can hop on and off all day long. If you get a chance stop at the small market we liked shopping there more then the big market . The big market we found the sales people a little pushy. However there is a street vendor selling awsome coconut runs and piña Clauda . If you get a chance stop at the all Capone mansion . It was cool to see and free . The beach outside there was amazing with a guy feeding pelicans . So cool . Just be aware of the horse and buggy ride. We were cautious of this because we heard the stories of people getting screwed but we talked about how much before we got on but when we got off omg the price was different . 80 cuc for the four of us holy cow we were originally told 10 . So be warned

Varadero beach. Stayed at an Airbnb right on the beach. Couldn’t have been any nicer. Right around 62nd Beatles club 1.5 blocks away with live bands 7x a week Calle 62 for salsa dancing and live shows. They shut down the road to all car traffic. This place is great. Been 3 times - 4th coming up in 3 weeks.

Amazing beach, clear calm sea and golden sand with stunning sunsets. Just choose your hotel wisely. Some are great and some of the all inclusive are way below the standard of the others. Check independent reviews and don’t trust the reviews on the usual ‘booking’ or ‘Hotel’ third party websites - you get what you pay for I suppose!

Varadero's beach is absolutely beautiful and I don't think you could ever get tired of it. We saw it at sunrise, sunset, during calm and during stormy times, and it was awesome every time. Water is crystal clear. The sand right at the shore is on an angle, so walking along the shore is a bit awkward. The sand in general is deep, so it's a workout to walk for a long stretch, but still worth every second.

If you want to swim with fish this a perfect beach. Great water, sand, and weather. I do prefer Playa Ancon in Trinidad though, less crowded and shaded chairs everywhere for $2 CUC

The beach is fantastic. It is huge. No crowds, warm water, nice sand. We love it. We stayed in casa particular, 3 minutes from the beach. Room with private bathroom was great. Price was very affordable. Breakfast was not included but it is easy to find places to eat, again for very good price. It is very important to exchange your money for pesos on the steeet market and not in the banks, hotels, airport. The rate is much, much better. We exchanged some money with our landlord. The rate was 50 pesos for 1 CAN$. But later we found even better rates in other cities where there are less tourists.

One of the prettiest beaches. Clear water, not too much waves in february. Just walk by the beach and sunbeds or umbrellas are available for about 2 CUC each either for rent from some of the hotels or other private companies. Some of the guys who offer sunbeds will also offer the possibility to buy drinks and food, I think they bring it from the hotels. It's possible to use the toilets at some of the hotels.
