Caves were nice. learning the about the history was cool -- beware no bathrooms. The bus came late - then it broke down, we were delayed by 2.5 hours. We had 20 minutes to walk around the city Manthas.

We explored the caves with a guide, and it was amazing!!! The history in the caves is amazing, it was about 23-24 degrees but the humidity was about 98%. Hot for walking around, but worth the visit. The tour takes you in 750 Meters, then 750 meters back. Stalactites, stalagmites and crystals all over the walls.

There are a series of stair cases to walk down into the cave. There are two ladders off the dock to get in and out (one easier than the other). The water is crystal clear and refreshingly cold - think spring fed- There are shallow areas where you can touch bottom and there is also a stalagmite you can swim around. It is a very unique and fun experience.

We visited this cave as part of the jeep, safari.
There’s not necessarily changing facilities as such.
The cave is a steep walk down to the water area where everyone just dumps there bags and jumps in, its a refreshing 24 degrees. Nice little swim after a hot day.
You can visit here independently without being on a tour.

Wonderful experience!
deep, cool, clear water; you can go to the shallower, warmer end, and sit or swim; or swim around the deeper end through a tunnel to a little island area where you can jump offif you so choose!
There’s a newer, safe stairwell down into the cave with a deck for viewing or resting.
You probably wouldn’t spend much more than an hour, but will enjoy every minute.
We’ve been twice, I’d go again:)

Located not far from the hotels this is a great attraction . Not only can you see the cave but also swim in the natural fresh water pool. There is a small bar/ restaurant on site.

This gem is often missed by tourists, but thankfully they include it in the jeep safari. After you walk down the steps you get to swim in the cave where the water is quite warm in the shallow end but gets colder as it gets deeper. It's okay if you don't want to swim you can enjoy the view from above. Neat experience, although not my favorite experience. If I had to take something off my list it would probably be this because without doing the swimming it's not that great.

We went to Saturno Caves as the last stop on our Jeep tour. Very scenic and pretty with a clear blue pool at the bottom of the cave surrounded by stalagmite and stalactite formations. No changing facilities just a washroom so it’s better to go in your swimsuit if you are planning to swim in the pool. Steep stairs down so be aware if you have mobility issues.

I was here twice Wednesday Jan 4 2012 and Saturday Jan 7 2012 i came here on The Cubatur Jeep Safari and on the snorkelling excursion.I didn't go swimming either time but from the people that i spoke to that had taken a dip in it were surprised how warm the water was..It was cool to just to have been able to visit this very steep cave(watch your step while climbing around it) with very red dirt.I had a painful calf muscle pull on the Wednesday so the last thing i wanted to do that day was swim and on the Saturday i was exhausted after my first time snorkelling.I would say to anyone that they should maybe consider booking an excursion through their hotel that takes you there i think it's definetely an interesting place to check out if you're in Vardero.

If you don't bring your swimsuit to the Saturno Cave's, you're really missing out.
Although the cave itself isn't huge, it's the ability to swim in the freshwater cavern that's the real attraction. Crystal clear water and a safe exit/entry way into the water is great... Just remember to get your swimsuit on before you decend into the cave!
PS - bring your camera!

How do you get here? Tour? And cost for a family to go swimming in the cave?
Thanks

I would say yes. There is a shallow area that would be great although the rocks do have some cracks and small gaps that go quite deep. There is also a viewing deck that is pretty nice. You may need to keep a close eye on them depending on how small.
Hola que tal? quisiera saber cuanto tiempo dura la excursion?

If you book as a group and do the excursion it is roughly 4-6 hours. I believe it is 1 hour for every stop. You could rent a jeep, if you can drive standard and go yourself. You can stay all day. they have a restaruant and it cosdts 5cuc per person to enter the cave.

Hi there,
Just wondering if you have to do this as a tour or if you can do it on your own? Sounds like a cool place and would love to see it but not fond of the private tours.

Sorry for the late response, I just saw your note. Yes, you can definitely go on your own. It's not a big trip and the most you can do is swim, have a few drinks and relax.
